Over the past month, fans of Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) have been waiting with bated breath to find out the next additions to the event’s already burgeoning lineup. The wait is now over and the results do not disappoint.

Coming through in support are an eclectic array of DJs from across the globe including Devarra, Marc Maya, Softest Hard, w.W, Yung Bae, Meduza and Calvin Harris‘ fellow Las Vegas residency DJ, Generik.

Now with just over a month to go before the curtain falls, and with yet more acts to be added soon, the countdown to Djakarta Warehouse Project’s 11th edition is well and truly on.

Purple Haze is back with another electronic anthem ‘You & Me’

Purple Haze, the enthralling, darker alter ego of Dutch legend Sander van Doorn, is back with another electronic anthem ‘You & Me’ – out now via Doorn Records.

Layering ethereal chords over simple drums before working in the beat with a driving four-to-the-floor kick with a pulsing deep bass. As the song begins to build, Sander adds in arpeggiating digital synths, introducing a powerful and dark lead line over the top.

After the parts all draw away, the haunting vocals float in with the catchy hook of the track’s title ‘You & Me‘, building back up again this time with all the parts coming together to mix in a thumping crescendo before concluding in true style.

For his latest offering, Sander teams up with Belgium band Goose who supplied the lyrics and vocals, which sit perfectly over his excellent production. As is evident on this song and all of those that have come before, Purple Haze continues his winning streak, releasing electronic originals and remixes that sit comfortably in his glowing live show repertoire.

Having recently taken Amsterdam Dance Event by storm with a very special Purple Haze show at the illustrious Melkweg, in partnership with Dolby Atmos, Sander van Doorn further cemented his position as one of dance music’s most celebrated acts.

Kaos Garden, The first immersive experience of elrow’art makes its U.S. debut

Multidisciplinary artist Okuda San Miguel and renowned DJ and producer, Paco Osuna will represent, through avant-garde art and electronic music, their particular vision of ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ in an experience where the audience will be part of a great piece of interactive art.

elrow and Paco Osuna are curating a very special musical lineup of world renowned artists. The personal universe of an artist turned into a party is the unprecedented collaboration that is elrow’art.

Fashion brand Desigual, global party purveyors elrow, and art collective Ink and Movement come together to develop experiences in which avant-garde art and electronic music become a unique show, and the audience are key players. The collective behind this collaboration are a group of creatives who propose new scenarios to play, feel and participate in music and art.

elrow’art is a traveling initiative that will be calling in major cultural and entertainment capitals. Debuting at Amnesia during Ibiza’s closing week, elrow’art now makes its way to Miami and New York this December before continuing its travels around the world in 2020.

“After our sold out debut in Ibiza, we are very proud to debut in Miami with our first immersive art experience, elrow’art. An initiative brought to life thanks to the collaboration with a great team coming from different art disciplines such as Ink and Movement, Okuda San Miguel, Desigual and Paco Osuna,” says elrow‘s CEO Juan Arnau.

“Introducing elrow’art in Miami during Art Basel is a very special event for me. It means bringing the art enthusiasts to a party where they can experience my universe from an unusual perspective. Moreover, the union of art and music really interests me due to the importance that the latter has in my life”.Okuda San Miguel

Paco Osuna will be the sonic curator and spiritual guide who will select the rhythms that will draw the sound landscape to mark the route from hell to Eden. Okuda‘s unique iconographic language of multicolored geometric structures and patterns that have made him one of the world’s most recognizable street artists of today will be on full display, right down to elrow‘s signature confetti.

He will recreate the surreal, chaotic and multisensory scene of a garden that will unleash emotions and human free will. Skulls of colors that open up at our pace, ships that fly, mountains that take root, birds, unicorns and sirens dancing, are some of the elements that will make up this fantasy in which each attendee will choose their own destiny.

The first edition of this project is sponsored by Desigual. With it the fashion brand fulfills its purpose of supporting the art world and young talents, as well as inspiring to awaken the creativity that we all carry within and become artists.

“I think life is boring if you don’t do things your own way, even if it is not the way or in the order in which everyone expects,” explains Okuda San Miguel about the leitmotiv of Kaos Garden.

“For me, chaos is the freedom to choose your own path and have a good time going through it. Let’s do it our way”, dishes the Spaniard, who proposes all to be funny and irreverent in a magical event like the work of art he represents.

“This experience is a challenge for me, an opportunity to innovate and do something different, because making music that identifies Okuda, elrow and what I represent, is a challenge because they are three very different concepts but at the same time very connected”.

Showtek unveil collaboration with hard-style icon Gammer on ‘EDM Sucks’

Acclaimed Dutch brothers Showtek link up with Gammer on new single ‘EDM Sucks’, out now via Skink Records.

A collaboration with UK hardcore legend Gammer, the track is characterised by maximalist production, unruly drops and Siri vocals explaining “Roses are red, violets are blue, EDM sucks and so do you,” it’s a tongue-in-cheek behemoth that harks back to the early days of US dubstep.

“As Showtek we always try to create a certain shock value in our music, it’s either by collaborating with artists people don’t expect us to work with, using different sounds or trying something completely new.” Showtek explains.

“We had the idea to implement AI as a gimmick in this song. AI is just so interesting since it’s able to mimic the behaviour of the human mind. It knows exactly what we want to hear!

We asked Gammer to work on this project together with us. We played a few of his earlier tunes and liked his style of music, especially for our DJ sets. We spoke about the musical direction for this song and we all agreed that the 2014 festival sound is what we wanted to bring back in a new form.”

Speaking about the collaboration, Gammer reiterates:

“When Showtek came to me to work on music not only was I excited it was a no-brainer. Once we connected we knew he had to create something that was going to make some noise… which is partly why we called the track “EDM Sucks”. EDM definitely doesn’t suck but it’s like a satire play on some of the music that is being released, we needed to take the time to make fun of all the “seriousness” that this industry has lately possessed and just go back to making music that feels right.”

A diverse release traversing hardcore and bass-heavy drops, coupled with a combination Showtek‘s renowned EDM sound and Gammer‘s Hardstyle technique, ‘EDM Sucks‘ perfectly encapsulates their slick talent & style, and Skink Records‘ fresh approach to releasing contemporary music.
