Charlotte de Witte’s label KNTXT teams up with Amsterdam-based fashion brand Filling Pieces

Charlotte de Witte

The exclusive, limited collection is available at the Filling Pieces store for a KNTXT pop-up collaboration from Wednesday October 19 until Sunday October 23, and online from October 20.

Charlotte de Witte‘s label KNTXT teams up with Amsterdam-based fashion brand Filling Pieces to launch an exclusive collection, designed jointly by Charlotte and Filling Pieces founder Guillaume Philibert. The exclusive collection launches during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) at the Filling Pieces flagship store in Amsterdam from October 19-23.

Charlotte de Witte‘s record label KNTXT and high fashion streetwear brand Filling Pieces have co-designed three limited-edition pieces. Merging KNTXT‘s signature underground style and characteristic ‘X‘ with Filling Pieces‘ exclusive designs and expertise, the collection is a perfect representation of both brands. As the dance music community gathers in Amsterdam for ADE, the collection will be available at the Filling Pieces store for an exclusive KNTXT pop-up.

KNTXT x Filling Pieces

The collaboration between KNTXT and Filling Pieces is based around the concept that “No label can hold us.” Music should always be a space where no one can put you in a category by the way you dress, which skin color you have, or your gender/sexual orientation.

The concept makes use of a very simple set while having a strong cast that features a variety of differences. By tapping a mixed cast and using a uniform look (with the same styling used on all) the collaboration seeks to remove the labels some might feel from the outside world, breaking the stigma of external dogmas put upon us.

Featured in this exclusive and limited collection are the KNTXT flannel jacket, the Leather Card Holder CdW, and the Jenn Boot Coal, a custom-branded, sturdy leather boot that borrows inspiration from the classic combat silhouette.

Charlotte de Witte and KNTXT are in for a busy ADE, taking over the Filling Pieces store for four days, collaborating with Loop Earplugs on limited, co-branded editions of Loop’s bestselling Experience earplugs, which will be available for purchase at the pop-up store, speaking on one of the conference’s panels, and selling out the massive Ziggo Dome on Friday October 21st for a true KNTXT triumph, presenting some of the finest artists like Enrico Sangiuliano, FJAAK, I Hate Models, Indira Paganotto, Onyvaa, and of course label head Charlotte de Witte.

In 2015 Charlotte de Witte founded her flagship, KNTXT, which has grown from a live event to a boutique label that organizes events, releases music and curates radio shows. KNTXT has collaborated with brands such as Belgian activewear brand 4254 and Danish audio design company AIAIAI, has its own curated platform on Apple Music and is now thrilled to be making further steps in the fashion world by collaborating with Filling Pieces, an exclusive high-end streetwear brand at the forefront of its industry.

If all of that wasn’t enough, Charlotte just released her brand new ‘Apollo‘ EP on October 14th, a follow-up to her April EP ‘Universal Consciousness‘. Known for her dark, stripped-back brand of techno, acid and anything high energy, the 4-track EP is an uncompromising collection of club tracks.

The exclusive KNTXT x Filling Pieces collection is available at the Filling Pieces Flagship store, from October 19th until October 23rd, and online from October 20th.

Shadow Child (aka Dave Spoon) remixes JODA single “Air”

Legendary UK house producer Shadow Child drops the first-ever remix of Jono Grant and Darren Tate’s JODA project.

Shadow Child, aka Dave Spoon, is one of the UK’s most influential producers, with releases on Defected, Dirtybird, Shall Not Fade, Moda Black, and Hot Creations.

He’s worked with the likes of Disclosure, Mary J Blige, and Hot Since 82, remixed tracks for Xpansions, The Kite String Tangle, and Little Boots, and reworked Jody Wisternoff’s ‘Something Real’ from ‘Nightwhisper’, Jody’s 2020 studio album on Anjunadeep. His remix of JODA’s ‘Air’ showcases his unparalleled production abilities once again, giving the track an ethereal, break-filled twist.

JODA – Air (Shadow Child remix)

It’s been a big year for Jono Grant and Darren Tate, aka JODA. Grant is one-third of Above & Beyond who, throughout a two-decade career, have established themselves as one of the biggest electronic groups in the world. In 2019, Above & Beyond received an offer to score an environmental documentary, ‘The Last Glaciers’. He enlisted classically trained musician, songwriter, producer, hitmaker, and close friend Darren Tate, and the duo got stuck into composing together.

It became a dream project all around – not least because it sparked further ideas. JODA was born. Working in Tate’s studio in suburban north London, and A&B’s south London HQ, the pair were in a creative bubble during the early days of the pandemic. And the partnership proved fruitful. Their self-titled album ‘JODA’, celebrating the musical influences that Jono and Darren grew up with, was released on Anjunabeats in August 2022 – to a rapturous reception from the Anjunafamily and beyond.

Bart Skils unleashes his ‘Horsepower’ with thrilling 2-tracker on Drumcode

One of Drumcode‘s most vital go-to artists – Bart Skils – returns for his first solo offering of 2022.

Horsepower‘ marks the Dutchman’s third credit on Drumcode this year, following a strong collaborative work with WeskaShades of Summer‘ and the new remixes of ‘Your Mind‘ from Charles D, his classic with Adam Beyer from 2018. Bart‘s also been busy throughout the summer season, a fixture at our Off Sonar, Drumcode Miami and the Drumcode Ibiza event.

His latest two tracker continues this reach vein of form. The title track is vintage Bart Skils; a searing festival-ready bomb built around a dreamy vocal sequence and long mid-section break that drops back into stomping techno territory.

Sunshine in the Dust‘ brings the party with lively percussion, flamboyant vocal samples and tough bottom end. A super fun track bursting with Latin flavours.

Don Diablo embarks on an ΞNDLΞSS VOYAGΞ

don diablo future xl

These upcoming weeks, digital luminary Don Diablo will showcase his brand-new fine art solo exhibition “ΞNDLΞSS VOYAGΞ” in his hometown Amsterdam. The full collection, consisting of seven new works, is on public display and for sale at Jaski Gallery.

In conjunction with his new collection the following three weeks MOCO MUSEUM will also be hosting an exclusive overview of carefully curated Don Diablo art pieces, created by the artist over the past years. This will include two pieces from his new “ΞNDLΞSS VOYAGΞ” collection: a life-size plane window on an endless digital flight to an unknown destination and a mixed media video installation.

After spending more than 14,500 hours in the air from the age of 13, Don Diablo‘s life changed dramatically when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Over the years, planes had become his second home. When the lockdowns suddenly made it impossible for him to fly, the renowned producer and digital artist decided to literally take the plane into his home. And so, the foundations for Endless Voyage were laid.

Taking place in his home country, this special exhibition will be a significant moment in Don‘s artistic career as it is the first time, he will display a wider collection of his works. No stranger to the MOCO, Don’s mind-blowing HΞXHIBIT III art installation, which was auctioned off for 1.2 million euros and then went on public display at the Museum Plein, also went on display at the MOCO museum last year. The kick off for the MOCO exhibition will take place on the 20th of October at the museum where Don Diablo himself will also be present.

Having risen to the upper echelons of electronic music, Don‘s fascination and preoccupation with the visual arts has always been prevalent throughout every step of his music career, ultimately finding a natural progression into the art world. Disrupting the scene with his take on NFTs (NonFungible Tokens) last year, his name has become synonymous with the digital/physical art space.

Just eighteen months on from the record-breaking sale of his first NFT at digital art gallery SuperRare, the Dutch visionary has achieved incredible success with his work going on to be auctioned at Sotheby’s and exhibited at Venice Biennale, Art Dubai and Art Basel in Miami. His latest work HΞXAVΞRSΞ by Don Diablo is currently on display in downtown Hong Kong and Shanghai in collaboration with K11.

Is It Allowed to Vape on Music Festivals?

Most likely, you are already fully aware of any public smoking restrictions. Numerous smoke-free rules and laws have been adopted. It was thought that a ban on smoking in public places would help to decrease the number of smokers and the overall adverse effects of smoking.

However, the world is dynamic and constantly evolving. Every year, the use of electronic cigarettes becomes more widespread. Vaping began in China and has since expanded to Europe and other nations.

Vapers who want to attend a festival with a vaporizer should be aware of the regulations to comply with the law because different countries’ laws handle vaping differently. In this article, you will discover a little about the rules governing festivals and e-cigarettes in several nations.

United Kingdom

In the opinion of the Public Health Service of England, the best dab pens are less dangerous than traditional cigarettes. However, when attending a festival in the UK, keep in mind that there is a limit on the amount of nicotine in vaping liquids for users; it should not be higher than 2%.

United States

Although vaping is allowed in the US, many health professionals compare the health concerns of e-cigarettes to those of tobacco products. Remember that each state in the US restricts vaping when attending a festival. The majority forbid vaping in areas where there are other persons present. Therefore, it is crucial to research each state’s legislation in advance.

Thailand

Vaping is not permitted in this country according to law. Nevertheless, the statutes make no mention of the dab pen specifically. The sale, import, or production of vaping products is prohibited. However, it is unlikely that your e-cigarette will be considered an illegal import if you bring it to a festival.

Compared to other nations, the rules that forbid vaping are a little less strict. The best they can do is admonish you in writing and seize your electronic equipment. Vaping is technically illegal in Thailand, so you do it at risk.

Austria

Wax vaporizer users should consider Austria. Vaping is not expressly forbidden in festivals by law. However, it would be best if you remembered that local retailers could not legally sell liquids, including nicotine.

Germany

It is an excellent nation with beautiful scenery, a unique culture, and delectable cuisine. Every festival goer can enjoy e-cigarettes because there are no strict rules in this area. Here, vaping is legal, even for kids.

South Africa

Travelers to South Africa will not have any issues regarding vaping. However, keep in mind that soon, health authorities will seek to outlaw or restrict the use of e-cigarettes.

If you abide by the piece mentioned above of advice, you can be confident that you will not have any issues during festivals in other countries.

However, it is strongly advised always to verify the regulations to ensure your safety as the world is constantly changing. Therefore, venue owners and event organizers must make sure they abide by the strict laws and restrictions governing smoking in public that are in place in the majority of European and North American countries.

The pot laws are either less strict or not enforced in South America, Asia, and Africa. Although there are reasonable grounds for authorities to discourage cigarette smoking in public places, the main one is to limit the appearance of second-hand smoke, which can harm those who work in concert venues.

Specified Locations

While a significant portion of festival attendees still smoke, several organizers have decided to designate smoking sections in addition to other areas with a strict no-smoking policy. In addition, many festivals establish no-smoking zones near campsites that cater to families or regions with childcare and other amenities for kids. Any festival smokers should read the event’s FAQs to learn more about their policies, as some events have made smoking entirely prohibited.

Vaping and Smoking Cigarettes Are Two Distinct Ideas

Vaping is not the same as smoking traditional cigarettes containing tobacco. Every day, the general public is becoming more aware of the distinction. However, that does not mean that non-vapers do not desire to indulge in a flavorsome vapor while taking in their favorite outdoor concert or event.

Even though your preferred dessert-flavored e-liquid makes you squeal with delight, there will probably be those who do not want to be enveloped in your massive cloud of vapor. We cannot blame those people, though. Respecting those around you is the golden rule regarding vaping and outdoor activities. Avoid vaporizing while waiting in line or in a crowded environment.

If you enjoy vaping with high-glycerin juice, keep in mind that your wax pen can produce a lot of vapor while deciding where to do so at these events. It is always possible that event organizers will forbid vaping in the future if vapers do not observe good vaping etiquette. When vaping outside, be kind and considerate to people around you.

Getting Ready for Vaping

Depending on how far and long you will be away from home, you must be ready to vape during festivals. A brand-new, liquid-filled e-cigarette and an ultimately charged battery will work for local, same-day activities.

A charger is helpful if you want to prevent returning home with a dead e-cigarette battery. Stocking up is worthwhile for more extended events. Ensure you have plenty of yummy liquid, extra batteries or a charger, fresh cartridges, coils, or vaporizers, and tools for replacing the locks and wipes to remove excess fluid while refilling.

Vaping ought to be adequate. Consider wearing a lanyard or other accessory when vaping during the festival, for example. You can do this to keep your wax vape pen close at hand. You won’t have to be concerned about losing it if you sit on it, drop it, or any other scenario.

Always confirm whether vaping is permitted at the festival you intend to attend. It would be best if you kept in mind that there are people nearby.

If you are unsure, ask your neighbors if they object if you vape. By doing this, you will enjoy vaping while taking in the event and the scenery, open doors for other vapers, and foster a positive perception of vapers, which could eventually encourage more smokers to switch.

Moby unveils ‘Rescue Me’ – a new track written for ‘Slay,’ a documentary exposing animal suffering

Moby shares “Rescue Me,” a new track written exclusively for “SLAY,” a feature documentary from the makers of “Cowspiracy” and “What The Health,” which looks into the ongoing use of animal skins – leather, fur, and wool – within the fashion industry. The musician, producer and animal rights activist has been vegan for 35 years.

SLAY” launched on the 8th of September exclusively on WaterBear, a free streaming platform dedicated to the future of our planet. The documentary seeks to expose unethical practices whilst showcasing practical solutions.

Available to stream during the coveted ‘fashion month,’ “SLAY” showcases investigative footage captured over the course of three years by filmmaker Rebecca Cappelli. “SLAY” follows the industry’s supply chains and their impact on the environment, including leather tanning’s water contamination, deforestation, animal suffering on fur factory farms and in the wool processing supply chain, and modern-day slavery.

Here’s what Moby had to say:

“One of my goals is to use whatever resources I have to end the use of animals for food and fashion. It makes me incredibly happy to be able to use ‘Rescue Me’ to draw attention to Rebecca Cappelli’s remarkable film, ‘Slay.’”

The film brings together a host of experts and campaigners, including TV personality and influencer Lucy Watson, Founding Director of Collective Fashion Justice Emma Håkansson, CEO of Red Carpet Green Dress Samata Pattinson, Fashion Journalist and Sustainability Activist Bandana Tewari, and vegan educator and author Ed Winters aka Earthling Ed. Filming took place in Australia, Brazil, China, India, France, Italy and the U.S.

Viewers are taken inside factories and farms to uncover the dark side of fashion. By highlighting the extent of greenwashing in the fashion industry, “SLAY” debunks myths about animal skins being a sustainable material.

According to exclusive data shared by Good On You, fashion’s leading brand rating platform, animal products remain pervasive in fashion today. In analyzing thousands of fashion brands, Good On You reveals 68% of brands today use some animal products in their collections. For the largest and most profitable brands, 91% are using animal products.

“The suffering of animals in the fashion industry is greenwashed into oblivion while those skin industries are destroying the planet and harming people,” says Rebecca Cappelli, Director, and Producer of the film. “‘SLAY’ aims to challenge the notion that animal skins are a fabric, and open people’s eyes to the dark realities behind some of the most sought-after skins in fashion.”

However, there is hope, with alternatives to animal skins and furs growing year on year, solutions vary from puffer jackets made from 100% recycled bottles, animal-free leather developed from pineapple leaf, mushroom or apple, and plant-based wool grown from flowers.

Founding Director of Collective Fashion Justice Emma Håkansson says:

“It’s time for the fashion industry’s idea of ’sustainability’ to consider the reality that we can no longer sustain injustice for profit — whether it be against humans or the animals we share this planet with. We need a total ethics fashion system.”

SLAY” is available to watch exclusively on WaterBear – the streaming platform dedicated to the future of our planet – with access to charity partners and NGOs also available via the platform. “SLAY” will also be available on further platforms from late September onwards.

Multi-platinum-selling, multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, author, and animal rights activist Moby launched his new label “Always Centered at Night” earlier this year, with the aim to do something uncompromising – to make music that is emotional, atmospheric, and potentially beautiful.

With this ethos, the label brought us its debut release Medusa, a collaboration between Moby and Grammy-nominated artist and Doja Cat collaborator Aynzli Jones, and, most recently, On Air, which brought down the pace and intensified the mood with New York based experimental musician serpentwithfeet.
