Layton Giordani enters the ‘Digital Age’ with futuristic new EP on Drumcode

In superlative form off the back of his remix of Sam Paganini’s ‘Rave’ produced with Adam Beyer that hit no.2 on Beatport’s Top 10 chart, Layton Giordani gifts us with a pair of new originals on Drumcode.

Digital Age‘ is stadium-sized techno and indicative of the artist’s craft at balancing soaring laser-kissed chords with crushing dancefloor dynamics.

UFOs & LFOs‘ is a throbbing head melter in the most delicious of ways, as silky synths and rich bass coalesce for a head-spinning finish.

Here’s what Layton Giordani had to say about his brand new EP:

The idea behind ‘Digital Age’ was to create an EP focused on the future of where techno can go with our new digital landscapes of sound design. I’ve been quite diligent in the studio lately and am constantly exploring new ways to push beyond technical and creative boundaries.

This release is my first take on a new journey, trying to bend the mind and find ways to reinvigorate our scene and bring something fresh. I know where music has been and I’m excited by where this takes you next in my musical evolution.

Martin Roth collaborates with Tom Ashbrook on the single ‘Sine Waves’

Electronic music heavyweight Martin Roth will release his second full-length, piano-led album ‘Mono No Aware’ on Reflections this fall, the new sister label of Anjunadeep.

Roth is well-known for his ability to glide between genres while maintaining a distinct, instantly-identifiable style, and his new release is no exception. With this 13-track album, Roth moves away from the club space and into his classical pianist background to explore themes of impermanence, fatherhood, and simplicity.

The second single, ‘Sine Waves’, is a collaboration with British neo-classical pianist and producer Tom Ashbrook, made from a simple waveform or sine wave from a synthesizer’s percussion and organ pad.

An accomplished composer and musician, Tom Ashbrook has shared the stage alongside music legends Paul McCartney, John Newman, and Sting. Now the pair team up for their debut collaboration, presenting a textured, piano-laden electronica track that masterfully creates suspense, builds tension and ends in a release.

Joining the Anjuna label family back in 2008 with a remix of Above & Beyond’s trance anthem ‘Miracle’ on Anjunabeats, Martin Roth has since provided numerous standout moments within the Anjunadeep back catalog including ‘Have You Ever’, ‘Organic Brewed Hipster Funk’, and 2012 label classic ‘Beautiful Life.’ During the lockdown, while Anjunadeep launched their series of ambient VA compilations, Roth moved from club to piano-led music and the release of his first full-length downtempo album, ‘An Analog Guy In A Digital World.’

Roth says it’s no coincidence his two full-length albums are classical-leaning. His emotions pour out of his hands and into the piano, and ‘Mono No Aware’ is an amalgamation of these stories and experiences. He began the writing process in mid-2021 while the world was still under COVID’s thumb, and says lockdown in Germany was the perfect backdrop to write an album steeped in melancholia. The nostalgia and impermanence even extend to the name – ‘Mono No Aware’ which is a Japanese phrase that means awareness that everything fades away.

Sine Waves‘ is out now and ‘Mono No Aware’ is released on September 12th on Reflections – preorder here.

Oliver Heldens cuts no corners with new remix of James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa’s hit, ‘Ferrari’

Oliver Heldens

Oliver Heldens highlights why he’s one of the scene’s most trusted hitmakers with a turbo-charged new remix of James Hype & Miggy Dela Rosa’s undeniable summer hit, ‘Ferrari’.

The single captures the sun-soaked melodies of Hype‘s easy and breezy original, but shifts gears into a clubbier realm with playfully upbeat rhythms and addictively percussive drops.

It’s hard to argue that James Hype and Miggy Dela Rosa‘s ‘Ferrari‘ isn’t one of the songs of the summer. In the short months since its April release, the tune was named, and is currently, BBC Radio 1’s Tune Of The Week, has been spun by a who’s who of the industry’s top acts, ranging from Armin van Buuren and Benny Benassi to Diplo, Tiësto, and Timmy Trumpet, garnered well over 150 million cumulative streams and recently landed on the biggest playlist in the world, Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits. With none other than Oliver Heldens now taking the wheel and already hitting #1 in several territories, ‘Ferrari‘ once again positions itself to continue its climb to the top of the global charts!

Oliver Heldens says: “Being a bit inspired by Afrobeat, Afro House and Melodic House, I wanted to take the summer vibe of the original to a next level by adding some organic catchy melodic/musical marimbas that perfectly mesh with the guitar & vocal hook of the original, and of course a funky signature Heldens type bassline that supports it all nicely and gives it a clubby touch. Despite the organic, tropical & somewhat ‘chill’ sound overall, it’s been a true highlight in my sets, even in the more ‘mainstage’ festival-type sets. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)”

“Oliver and myself have been meaning to work with each other for a long while, so when the chance came for him to remix Ferrari I was down immediately!” says James Hype.

Fans of James Hype and Oliver Heldens will recognize that this isn’t the first time that the two superstar DJs have crossed paths. Not only did James Hype unveil a remix of Heldens‘ ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You‘ just last month, but James has taken his globally recognized DJing skills to events hosted by Oliver and Heldeep Records in Miami and London, as well as an upcoming set at Mysteryland, on August 28.

In true ‘Ferrari‘ fashion, Oliver Heldens‘ new remix sits at the intersection between finesse and power. Perfect for everything from a headlining festival set to your favorite workout playlist, the new remix guarantees to take listeners from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds.

The new remix comes off the back of Heldens‘ latest releases, including his remix of Piero Pirupa‘s ‘We Don’t Need‘, as well as ‘Mercury‘, the latest HI-LO smash that is currently sitting comfortably at #1 on the Beatport Techno (Peak Time / Driving) chart.
