Section Eight Music proudly presents Randall Dean’s Chicago House take on Bootleg Contraband’s “Radio Chilo.”
As the final single before the release of the Bootleg Contraband “I/O Remixed” album, Dean‘s remix teases the quality and inventiveness we can expect from the upcoming full-length offering.
Randall Dean adds his personal touch to Bootleg Contraband‘s “Radio Chilo,” blending the original’s essence with his signature Chicago House flair.
Here’s what Randall Dean had to say about it:
“I set a restriction on myself when I did this flip. Rather than sample one small part of it and add all new music that I made, I decided that I was only going to use sounds that were from the original record. Except for the drums, every sound you hear is something I created by chopping and morphing the original track into a banger that has been going over really well at my gigs.”
Time Warp came back to its spiritual home in Mannheim with a bang on April 1st. After four years away because of the pandemic, the world’s most renowned electronic music festival raised the bar with 20,000 visitors from all over the world dancing to the best DJs on the planet with some of the most bold and adventurous production in the industry.
It all went down at Maimarkthalle, a huge fair hall that hosted its first Time Warp in 1995 and was a great home for this much anticipated return. The festival took place over the two main floors as well as the Maimarkt-Club which was a third space, then the vast outdoor tents offered two more places to dance and a glass pavilion also provided some unforgettable scenes as the sun shone in through the windows.
Here’s what the team behind Time Warp had to say: “We are very grateful that after a four year break we brought back the energy and the entire family with artists and fans from all over the world. We are happy that all our new floor designs worked out well and were much appreciated by fans and artists alike. We managed again to present a perfect symbiosis of materials, fabrics, light, sound and video.”
Amongst the many headliners were the likes of Sven Väth, The Blessed Madonna, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, Paula Temple, Ricardo Villalobos, Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, Dixon, DJ Koze.
Richie Hawtin also played and took to Instagram after the show to say, “Thank you @time_warp_official for another beautiful trip into the world of pulsating frequencies…..In a world where Techno is common place and known (but not understood) by everyone, it’s a pleasure to have an audience that is ready for a journey into the unknown. …..thank you to TIME WARP for giving us all a platform that allows us to all resonate together in the purest way!”
Forward thinking music has always been at the heart of Time Warp and that was the case again this year. Keep your eyes peeled for news of the next event as the 30 year anniversary edition approaches in 2024.
Iconic Ibiza nightspot Club Chinois has announced The Ritual With Anané & Louie Vega, Swedish techno superstar Ida Engberg and polysexual party night La Troya as major additions to its Summer 2023 roster.
Launched in 2022, the 1,000 capacity club in Ibiza Marina Botafoch is building on the foundations set in its spectacular debut summer. Having already announced Franky Wah’s SHÈN residency, Club Chinois is welcoming The Ritual With Anané & Louie Vega, Ida Engberg and La Troya to its star-studded lineup with the club’s Grand Opening Party fast-approaching on Sunday 30th April.
Gracing Club Chinois between Wednesday 7th June and 4th October are Nominees and Grammy Winner Anané & Louie Vega. Cape Verdian DJ / Singer / Songwriter Anané Vega and DJ Louie Vega, one half of production duo Masters At Work, each bring cutting edge productions, global dance music fused with afro-house and tech with a sprinkle of old school.
Creating their own scene and lane over the years in Ibiza and globally since 2011, the powerhouse couple are ready to bring together their family of talented friends. Anané describes the magic, “We’re about bringing a melting pot of people together to create a vibe and an atmosphere, and a ritual of music that people get lost in. Between Louie and I, and the various sounds we play individually and simultaneously, we take you on a journey.” On their list are a stellar cast of DJ friends coming to join The Ritual With Anané & Louie Vega in Summer 2023.

Every Monday from 15th May until 9th October will see the best polysexual party on the island La Troya grace Club Chinois. Created by Brasilio de Oliveira, the island’s longest running, most respected and loved promoter, La Troya originated in the 70s at Ibiza’s KU discotheque and has since become one of the most famous and celebrated LGBT-friendly parties in the world.
The trio of new additions bolster the star-studded Summer lineup at Club Chinois, the glamorously renovated former HEART nightclub designed to entice global music talent and hedonistic souls, where late nights come alive with escapism and adventure. Inspired by the decadent yet iniquitous jazz clubs of 1930’s Shanghai, the club delivers old-world hospitality and world class contemporary entertainment to the sunny shores of Ibiza. Revellers can find an innovative cocktail list, five-star hospitality and superb service within the club’s golden sculpted columns, opulent textiles and granite floors – with sensory surprises around every corner.

We had the chance to catch up with the extremely talented DJ & producer Syost to find out more about his music career.
Check out the full interview below!
Tell us more about yourself & your music career?
I am a music lover, music producer, DJ and live hybrid artist. Influences from Tulum, Ibiza and New York inspired me to my current style of Organic House music with a touch of Deep House, Orient and Afro-Tribal sounds.
My journey began in my youth by playing guitar in a funk, blues and rock band. My creative flare opened me up to my second love of electronic music. These two loves ignited an idea within, to mix electronic music with live instruments. This fusion enabled me to combine my creative passion for both styles.
I attended the music producer Academy in Zurich and since finishing my course, I’ve been given free rein to explore my musical creativity, in which I mix my guitar craft from earlier times with my electro tracks.
How would you describe your style of music?
Organic House music with a touch of Deep House, Orient and Afro-Tribal sounds.
Where do you find inspiration?
My big inspiration is the DJ Duo Bedouin, which I have seen live for the first time in NY in 2018. Since then, I have seen them a fee times more and their unique music touches my soul every time.
Describe how music is important to society.
Music knows no borders and connects us all together. Music is building real friendships for life.
What is the best time of the day to create?
I am definitely the most creative at night, but music gives me power and motivation at any time of the day.
Who are your musical influences?
I get my main influences from Bedouin, Woomoon Tulum and more than 10 years travelling to Ibiza. But I also get influences from great artists like Solidmind, Fake Mood, Black Coffee, Stan Kolev, Jean Vayat, El Mundo, Maga, Sabo, Goldcap, Shai T etc.
What is the most difficult thing about being a musician?
To find enough time to finish all the music projects I would like to do.
What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
I had a few big career highlights: A very special sunrise concert at the Aletsch Glacier (longest glacier in Europe) at 3000m above sea level, a day rave in the famous and ancient castle of Rapperswil, and my first gig at the famous electro club Friedas Büxe in Zurich.
What are your latest releases?
Beside the latest album release “Goddess of Love” on Cafe De Anatolia, “Away to the ground” will also be released in May on Lump Records and in June I will release an Afro House remix with a South African label.
I have been a huge fan of Cafe De Anatolia for many years. It is impressive how many unique and beautiful tracks this label has already released. I am very proud that I get the chance to release these very special tracks on this label.
Are you working on something new?
Yes, I am currently working on a special version of one of my latest Organic House tracks “Love Transition” with a group called Mataora which plays live with a handpan, Spanish guitar etc. They will enchant my track with a touch of magic.
Where and when is your next performance?
I currently have various gigs planned. Follow me on Instagram (syost.ch) and you’ll be up to date.
What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
A DJ friend of mine told me at a gig: Play the music louder… : ))
Do you have any advice for aspiring musicians?
Listen to yourself and find the one and only person who will give you honest feedback on your newly created tracks. There are many envious people around who only want to disappoint you.
