Jamie Jones’ “Paradise In The Park” returns to LA

After almost 18 months without dancing, LA party starters Future Primitive are teaming up with Jamie Jones and the beloved Paradise crew to bring back the Paradise in the Park concept to a bright new downtown location at Pershing Square.

Jones’ Paradise party began in 2012 as a summer residency at the legendary DC-10, and has since grown into a globally renowned event series. 2020 saw Paradise usher in a new era, moving their Wednesday night party to Ibiza clubbing institution Amnesia. Jamie Jones, house music’s most visible star, has a history that’s intertwined with Los Angeles, connecting with LA’s Culprit crew in the late 00s, living in the city for much of the last decade and debuting Paradise In The Park in Macarthur Park in 2017.

With so few opportunities to dance together over the past year, Angelenos will surely be anticipating the chance to unite under LA skies in the heart of Downtown. The timing of the city’s reopening couldn’t be any better as this sets the stage for Paradise‘s first global event since 2019. With a soon to be announced line up of hot artists joining Jamie Jones in Pershing Square, this edition of Paradise in the Park is set to be a memorable affair.

Jamie Jones debuted the Paradise In The Park concept in Los Angeles in 2017, selling out Macarthur Park, before heading to Grand Park in 2019 for another sell out show. 2017 was the start of his partnership with Future Primitive in LA, who are renowned for pioneering unique outdoor event spaces for underground dance music that embody the cinematic and iconic nature of Los Angeles. Future Primitive has created events with Innervisions, Guy Gerber‘s Rumors, DJ Tennis, Lee Burridge‘s All Day I Dream and many more.

Pershing Square sits at the heart of LA’s urban core, surrounded by downtown’s skyscrapers. It offers a dramatic and unique backdrop for the creative teams from Paradise and Future Primitive to transform with dynamic lighting and bespoke production. This summer Paradise In The Park will offer up the delicious proposition of reclaiming one of LA’s central public spaces for dancing under open skies.

Solardo present HIGHER Dubrovnik: 3 day-and-night weekender in Croatia

Picture the scene: the sun is beating down, the Adriatic Sea is glistening, and behind you are historic streets and buildings you recognise from Game of Thrones.

Welcome to HIGHER, a three-day and night Croatian extravaganza hosted by house heroes Solardo at Culture Club Revelin. Also supplying the sounds are superstar friends including Andrea Oliva, Danny Howard, Heidi, Max Chapman, Nic Fanciulli and wAFF, and that’s only phase one of the line-up.

The historic old town of Dubrovnik is an idyllic old-world setting right on Croatia’s south coast by the Adriatic Sea. It has gorgeous stone architecture, ancient clock towers and famous red tiled roofs. There’s a friendly, bustling atmosphere, winding streets filled with restaurants and bars, and plenty of sights made famous in Game of Thrones.

By day, the sky is stunning azure blue, but as the sun sets it turns flame red and burnt orange. You will be right there dancing on the terrace of Culture Club Revelin as this stunning transition happens. Once it’s dark, the party heads inside what is one of DJ Mag‘s Top 100 clubs in the world.

Alongside Solardo‘s own Sola label, fellow hosts include SUAT, the Brit known for walking miles and miles as he live-streams his mixes from a DJ setup he carries on his front. Arielle Free‘s new clubbing experience Free Your Mind also hosts, as do forward-thinking and eclectic Birmingham party crew WYLD, and Rituals LDN, a party known for bringing immersive and transformative production to a range of special spaces.

Musically the first wave includes a who’s who of contemporary talent from Radio 1 tastemaker Danny Howard to Ibiza legend Andrea Oliva via the jacking sounds of Heidi, melodic mastery of Nic Fanciulli and rolling techno of wAFF, with Sosa, Syreeta and Arielle Free also lining up.

There is much more to come for HIGHER 2021, but last year’s event sold out before it was postponed, so don’t sleep on securing tickets.

Wankelmut Releases Sultry French Track ‘Rogue’

Wankelmut

Just in time for summer, Berlin-based talent Wankelmut returns with his new feel-good anthem ‘Rouge.’ Interpolating beautiful French vocals with a sultry deep house groove, Wankelmut’s latest is sure to be a certified hit among fans and DJs alike. ‘Rouge’ is available now on all streaming platforms via Universal Music.

The strength of ‘Rouge‘ lies in Wankelmut‘s ability to delicately balance the gorgeous vocal work with his dark house production. From the get-go, the emotive French lyricism captivates, setting the tone for the single.

As the track progresses, club elements slowly work into the instrumental helping to heighten the pervasive tension.

Finally, the beat blossoms into a gorgeous dance track as a light synth and the vocals play off one another while a powerful bassline underscores the affair. ‘Rouge‘ is another milestone track for Wankelmut, and a single that he hopes will bring a smile to listeners’ faces:

My new single ‘Rouge’ is another gem which I have been able to finalize as a Wankelmut Single. After discovering the song with that beautiful French vocal line, it was a must- have for me to collaborate and make this an official release. Many months later ‘Rouge’ is ready for the spring and summer season 2021 and I personally hope to make people happy with this one in such critical times.Wankelmut

Loco Dice & Ghostface Killah release ‘Cherchez LaGhost’

Loco Dice
Loco Dice

Currently enjoying one of the most successful years in its bountiful, eight-year history, Transmit Recordings has been on fine form over the past twelve months, with huge releases from the likes of Aitor Ronda, Luis Miranda, Sleepy & Boo, Level Groove, Natalino Nunes and label boss, Boris, to name just a few.

Now, as it looks to continue its prolific run of first-rate studio output, the burgeoning New York-based imprint raises the bar yet again, with announcement of one of its biggest releases to date, Cherchez LaGhost.

Out now via Transmit Recordings, Re-Transmit 07 marks a cross-genre collaboration of momentous proportions as dance music legend and Desolat label boss, Loco Dice, joins forces with hip-hop royalty Ghostface Killah for an epic production that oozes attitude and impact from the outset.

Incorporating the unmistakable voice drops from Ghostface Killah’s year 2000 hit of the same name with trademark ease, Dice’s signature subterranean house groove provides the perfect backdrop to the Wutang Clan frontman’s spoken word lyrics, as he delivers a rich tapestry of shuffling four-four rhythms, hypnotic basslines and trippy, stripped back samples.

No stranger to the world of hip-hop, Loco Dice is internationally renowned for his unique ability to merge a myriad of musical influences into his house and techno leaning productions.

Beginning his illustrious career as a DJ and rapper providing global tour support for the likes of Snoop Dog, Ice Cube, Jamiroquai and Usher, the Tunisian-born, Düsseldorf-based artist’s early roots shine through for all to hear across this latest record, as he adds to his hugely expansive and diverse musical catalogue with an emphatic label debut on Transmit Recordings.

PAROOKAVILLE festival has to cancel once again due to the Corona pandemic

PAROOKAVILLE
via Saskia Gauke

Every option was considered right up to the last minute, including looking recently at rescheduling the festival for the late summer, but it has now been confirmed that PAROOKAVILLE’s gates will have to remain closed again for 2021.

The continuing Corona pandemic makes it impossible to safely hold the festival for three days with 210,000 spectators in attendance. The new dates for the sixth edition of the PAROOKAVILLE festival are July 22nd to 24th, 2022. Like last year, all ticket purchasers will have the option to choose between transferring their tickets for next year’s festival with no price increase, or returning the tickets for a refund.

In 2020, approximately 70 percent chose to transfer their tickets. Despite all the effort invested by the festival team over the last several months, the Corona pandemic continues to develop with too much uncertainty to continue planning for the festival this year.

The event organisers had already ruled out reducing the festival capacity of the most recently number of 70,000 attendees per day in order to make the permit process easier.

The PAROOKAVILLE that our ‘citizens’ know and love is a long, carefree weekend filled with friendship and wild partying. As much as we all wish for that, unfortunately it’s simply still not possible this year.

It is of course hard for us to have to cancel again in the sixth year since the festival was founded. But the health and safety of everyone involved is our priority“, explained Bernd Dicks, Co-Managing Director of Parookaville GmbH.

For months we’ve worked intensely on the implementation concept, and we’re grateful to ‘Initiative Musik’ for its assistance and federal funding support in this effort. But this unfortunately still doesn’t mitigate the financial risk of possibly having to cancel at the last minute. That risk is simply too high. So like many other event organisers, we must act now.

PAROOKAVILLE has become a major economic factor for the Lower Rhine region, so the cancellation doesn’t just cause emotional pain; it also affects many of our partners who are normally involved in the multi-million Euro production“,

Dicks continues. „We’re looking ahead now confidently to 2022, and we’re hoping that again so many of our great fans will continue their support and hold onto their tickets.

Transferring your tickets for next year’s festival can be done online again, in the same smooth fashion it went off in 2020. The process is scheduled to start up in mid-June. All the info for your ticket-rollover is available via the link.
