Project Sound unveils Tulum NYE lineup with Dj Tennis, Öona Dahl and Brina Knauss

dj tennis

DJ Tennis will be seeing in the New Year with Project Sound and Trafico Music at The Radhoo Hotel in Tulum.

The venue is a tropical hideout in the Mexican jungle with palm trees, a lush pool, close to Archeological sites, the Monkey Sanctuary and Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve among other beautiful attractions in the centre of Tulum. Meanwhile, the promoters are experienced party people who know how to bring the best acts to lei in magical settings with world class light and sound.

This will be an exotic location and magical way to see in the New Year with the Life And Death label boss. He is a master of melancholy, and well-balanced beats that draw on techno, dub, house and plenty of melody and is coming off another busy year of making music solo as well as with Red Axes as Redrago. Also playing will be Öona Dahl and Brina Knauss.

This is an escapist paradise and unforgettable way to see out the old year and bring in the New Year.

These 6 European festivals provide the best musical experience for your money

Tomorrowland 2019

No doubt about it, visiting festivals, especially those with huge lineups, can be quite expensive. We chose six with best music experience for their ticket price, and added a few tips on how to get by without breaking the bank.

Compared to regular concerts, festivals are actually quite affordable considering the number of musicians in the lineup. Viberate analyzed the most popular festivals around the world to see which provide the best musical experience for your money.

For those that made the cut, you’ll pay less than 1€ per artist. Compared to the others, European festivals are friendlier to your wallet, especially if you’re ready to wait by the computer to get time-limited special offers or buy Early Bird tickets.

If you buy the cheapest 7-day ticket for Sziget (Hungary), which hosts over 400 artists, you pay 0.7€ per artist. For Exit (Serbia) with over 500 artists, you only pay 0.3€ per performance, which makes it the festival with the best value for your money.

Tomorrowland in Belgium, Untold Festival in Romania, Primavera Sound in Spain, and Mysteryland in Netherlands lie between those two.

The best advice for getting the cheapest tickets is to look for Early Bird deals and special offers. Make sure you mark the important dates in order to not miss the first ticket release, and note that ticket prices might vary depending on the country you’re from.

Here’s how much the Early Bird ticket for the entire festival without camping will cost you. Most of the festivals last for three to four days, though Sziget lasts an entire week, and the price for Tomorrowland is for one of the two weekends.

Primavera Sound

You’ll find a mixture of Electronic music, Rock, Pop, and Hip Hop at Primavera Sound, happening in Barcelona in June. When the Early Bird period is over, the ticket will cost you 180€.

For a week in August, an island on the Danube River in Budapest hosts Sziget, which is similarly diverse when it comes to genres. Tickets with special prices go on sale for a 24-hour period – if you missed the date, they’ll cost you an additional 50€.

exit
Exit festival

If you prefer a more affordable option, there’s Exit, held at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia in July. The prices depend on the country you’re from, but will normally cost you around 110€. Electronic acts account for about 60 % of the lineup, while the rest are mostly Hip Hop and Rock.

Tomorrowland 2019

There were a whopping 678 artists on Tomorrowland‘s lineup over two weekends in July. While the price for the festival might not be as high as for similar festivals around the world, the tickets sell out in less than an hour. The first batch of pre-sale tickets is normally released for the Belgian market, and then they go international. Make sure you don’t miss the date to pre-register. Even though the festival has branched out into other genres, it’s still predominately Electronic.

UNTOLD 2019 Mainstage

In the beginning of August, Untold festival in Romania “releases the magic of Transylvania” for four days at Cluj Arena. The festival also offers pre-registration and covers Dance, House, Techno, and Trance, with traces of Hip Hop and Pop as well.

Mysteryland 2017
Mysteryland

Mysteryland near Amsterdam is another mostly Electronic festival happening in August, inviting party animals to navigate its paths around dance floors, ponds, rivers and forests. If you missed the earliest call, count in another 30€.

Tip: Be careful and make sure you get your tickets from a reliable source. We only recommend official channels. There are a lot of scammers out there selling counterfeit tickets, and just imagine the disappointment when after hours of traveling you’re denied entrance because of a fake ticket.

Food & Drinks

In South and Southeast Europe, you can also get relatively affordable food and drinks. At Exit, for instance, you can order a decent meal for about 8€ – not just a slice of pizza, but an entire lunch. And what’s a festival without beer? We did a little calculation for you.

Wonder how many bottles you get for 6€? Beer prices may vary depending on the brand, so we took the average cost per 0.5l into account.

Somebody mentioned free tickets?

There is a way to get free tickets – by volunteering. Most festivals need volunteers for all sorts of jobs, offering free admission, free food, and drinks in return. Don’t forget though, these volunteer positions fill up quickly, so sign up as early as possible.

Claptone launched a bespoke necklace in collaboraton with Lovebullets

Claptone has teamed up with British conceptual brand Lovebullets to launch a bespoke necklace.

The limited edition collaborative pendant, restricted to just 100 pieces, is a miniature sculpture of the iconic Claptone mask, sculpted from gold-plated bullet brass metal.

Lovebullets was founded at Glastonbury festival , with an ethos of transforming items of destruction into works of art, jewellery and fashion accessories to express an ideology of love overriding negative thoughts.

The concept originated from a fantasy story written by designer Martin Jegede, telling the tale of mystical love angels with power to transform items of destruction into beautiful works of art. This story was brought to life at Glastonbury in 2008 by Martin and Eve, who rode to the festival in a decommissioned army tank called the ‘Love Tank’ transformed into a DJ booth to celebrate their anniversary and Lovebullets.

It comes at the end of a landmark year for Claptone, whose first-ever Ibiza residency, ‘The Masquerade’ was a roaring success. The grandiose party concept brought together a unique combination of magic, mystery and intrigue to the White Isle this summer, with the likes of Armand Van Helden, Basement Jaxx (DJ set), Dennis Ferrer, Diplo, Heidi and Todd Terry on the billing.

“The Masquerade at Pacha Ibiza will represent my vision of the perfect night out: house music and beyond, interpreted by a carefully curated line-up of unique artists that I admire, and that I feel share the same sentimental connection to music. I invite you once again into my world, this time bigger than ever,” Claptone explained when first announcing the residency.

Claptone‘s stunning necklace further adds to the mystique that surrounds one of electronic music’s most enigmatic artists.

Produced by Lovebullets in London, they will all be sold exclusively via link.

Wigflex City Festival 2020 returns on Bank Holiday with stunning musical programme

Wigflex City Festival

After debuting to acclaim in 2019, Wigflex City Festival returns on Bank Holiday Friday 8th May 2020 with stunning musical programme, including Craig Richards & Nicolas Lutz, Octo Octa, Instra:mental, Skee Mask, Josey Rebelle, Lena Willikens & Vladimir Ivkovic and more.

Built on the core principle of showcasing Nottingham’s incredible potential, unrivalled creative talent and making a lasting change within the community, Wigflex City Festival brought locals, regulars and new recruits together earlier this summer to explore the breathtaking spaces Wigflex has been utilising for over 13 years of raucous parties.

With over fifteen of Nottingham’s independent venues used in 2019, including Metronome and The Brickworks, Wigflex City Festival 2020 promises more chaotic sets in old Nottingham caves, car parks, basements, hidden streets and out of sight warehouses to ensure that even more of the city is explored by dancers next summer.

Never losing sight of its DIY roots, this is a festival strictly on Wigflex‘s terms, guaranteeing the highest quality parties, a challenging and diverse roster of talks and workshops and a flurry of curveballs across the running time.

Since its inception, Wigflex has become synonymous with consistently booking the most exciting talent across the bill, whether it be bubbling upstarts on the rise or classic heavyweights of the genre, and there’s plenty on the festival lineup to exhilarate fans of both.

Having delivered legendary set after legendary set, Craig Richards & Nicolas Lutz unite for one that’s destined to rank highly in the Wigflex history books, while two members of the electrifying 6 Figure Gang, SHERELLE and L U C Y, are primed to demonstrate why they’re considered bass music’s brightest hopes, with Yazmin Lacey and Greentea Peng (Live) adding a soulful, welcome change of pace to proceedings.

If it’s original trailblazers you’re seeking, returning drum and bass dons Instra:mental and Wookie have you covered, whereas Giant Swan (Live) serve up pummelling techno cuts from their debut album, alongside Skee Mask, dBridge, Lena Willikens & Vladimir Ivkovic and Sonja Moonear who promise to explore the darker side of the dance music spectrum.

Once again, Wigflex City Festival pairs mind-melting live shows, from the likes of Oli XL, Nathan Fake, Equinoxx and The Legend of William Onyeabor by Bucky Leo & Black Egypt, with some of the most sublime selectors in the game, including Josey Rebelle, Leon Vynehall, Octo Octa, Job Jobse and Helena Hauff digging deep across the day and night.

Label head Dr Banana steps up to drop garage gems galore, with Manchester figurehead Madam X, the ever-evolving Franceso Del Garda, the breaking GIGI FM and Wigflex royalty Lone adding to the already stacked bill.

Founder Lukas Wigflex says:

“Everyone thought I was bonkers to gamble everything I own on the first festival and I’m still undecided as to whether it was the smartest or dumbest decision I’ve ever made, but the one thing I’ve always been 100% set on is that there had to be a second instalment.

The first festival came together in a way that I could have only ever dreamed of…It was like seeing every single thing that I know and love about Nottingham come together in one big beautiful way and to have that experience shared by so many people and artists that I love and respect was just incredible. Putting it into words seems silly, but seeing the whole city come alive was really special and I think it’s exactly what Nottingham needs more of, so I’m determined to keep going and making each year more memorable than the last. It’s that feeling that’s kept me in this game for over 13 years.

The business side of things have been testing, but I’m hoping that all of the lessons and hurdles we’ve come across have brought about positive growth and I’m so excited for 2020. The support that we’ve received across the board for this festival has also played a huge part in giving us the confidence to keep going because it’s not exactly the best time / climate to be a DIY, independent party promoter…but we’ve got no plans of stopping any time soon.”

With a diverse programme of talks and workshops to be announced soon, tickets for Wigflex City Festival are available now via link.

ADDAC System introduces its new 216 Sum & Difference module

From Portugal with love: entirely new kind of mixer that also enables the subtraction of two signals.

ADDAC System continues on its rogue path of innovation in the Eurorack space with the introduction of its new 216 Sum & Difference module, available now and priced at €125.

Put simply, the 216 does what other mixers cannot do: instead of allowing just the summing of two input signals, it also enables the possibility of subtracting the two signals. From a creative perspective, this allows users to attain the difference of two CVs (control voltages) or to cancel the phase of two audio signals.

“We are excited to introduce our new 216 Sum & Difference module,” said André Gonçalves, founder of ADDAC System.

“One of our primary design criteria is to create modules that don’t yet exist and that we wish we had. The 216 is another example of that, and our hope is that by introducing modules with unconventional circuit designs, we can help customers find undiscovered paths in their sonic journeys” he added.

Instead of allowing just the summing of two input signals, the new ADDAC System 216 Sum & Difference module also enables the possibility of subtracting the two signals.

A peculiar signal flow meant to inspire

The resulting signal from the 216 module, whether it be sum or subtraction, is then routed through a switchable (on/off) full rectification circuit labeled Absolute before the mixed signal then goes through another attenuverter labeled Amplitude which controls the resulting signal gain.

Since the Amplitude control is an attenuverter, it gives users the possibility to invert the incoming signal. Finally, after the Amplitude control comes an AC/DC coupling switch followed by an bipolar Offset knob.

In addition to the main output on the 216, there is also an inverted output for each of the A and B sections. These outputs are also summed, and sent to the Average Output. Using a single input, for instance either of the X or Y inputs, the module can also be used as a simple dual Attenuverter and Offset CV processor — with full rectification and AC coupling options.

The 216 Sum & Difference module will also be available as a full DIY kit in the near future.

Features:

  • Two independent sections, each with:
    – Two inputs with gain attenuverters
    – Amplitude attenuverter and bipolar Offset
    – Absolute/Bipolar and AC/DC switches
    – Output and inverted output
    – Two LEDs for monitoring the Output polarities and gain
  • Average mix output of both sections

Defected has announced a brand new Ibiza festival in 2020

DEFECTED IBIZA FESTIVAL
Defected Ibiza Festival 2020

Global house music institution Defected has announced a brand new Ibiza festival, marking 20 years of the label’s events on the island.

The four-day Defected Ibiza Festival will run from Thursday 14th into the early hours of Monday 18th May 2020, with day and night parties at various Ibiza locations, featuring the biggest DJs from the Defected, Glitterbox and Classic Music Company rosters.

The new festival is a natural next step for Defected after establishing sell-out festivals in Croatia and London. Its biggest Ibiza offering to date, Defected Ibiza Festival builds on the undeniable reputation the brand has earned on the island since 2000, when the fledgling label partnered with Ministry of Sound at Pacha. Two decades later, the residency at Eden and sister-label Glitterbox‘s residency at Hï Ibiza are the party mecca’s hottest success stories.

Providing an Ibiza openings weekend solution with festival pass and accommodation packages to suit all budgets, Defected Ibiza Festival will kick off on Thursday 14th with a day party, followed by a pre-party and Defected‘s opening night at Eden in San Antonio on Friday.

Saturday 16th will welcome the festival’s second daytime event followed by Classic Music Company hosting the night, closing the weekend in style with a pre-party, then on to Glitterbox Ibiza‘s opening party at Hï Ibiza. All line-ups and further venue information will be released in early 2020.

Combined festival pass and accommodation packages will be available via link, with prices starting at £209.
