The rave scene and electronic music landscape of Ukraine is one that remains largely unexplored, their booming techno sound little known.
Yet still, there is no one better to spearhead the deliverance of Ukrainian talent than one of their own, internationally acclaimed DJ, promoter and recently crowned BBC Radio 1 Resident, Nastia.
Having carved her own path into a now seismic music career with no formal training, to guiding the next generation of DJs and producers via Smirnoff’s Equalising Music mentoring program, Nastia has become renowned the world-over for her straight-talking marque of techno.
Built around her distinctive ability to curate the music of others in such a natural way that is assured to work on each and every dancefloor she graces, Nastia furthers those sentiments with the launch of her new label, NECHTO.
Seeing the conclusion of her previous project, ‘Propaganda‘ through which she curated a minimal, house sound rather separated from her selections in the club. Nastia begins a new journey with NECHTO that is closer to the dancefloor and her talents first and foremost as a DJ.
Now taking a distinctly bold line and electronic confidence, NECHTO will present functional dancefloor music with a DJs-Only attitude, techno that works, whilst further exploring unknown talent within her home country of Ukraine.
Unleashing a new beast, NECHTO, translated from Ukrainian to English means ‘Something‘. A term often used in Ukraine to describe intense and marked techno experiences ‘NECHTO‘ – ‘Wow, that was something!‘.
As she gears up to unveil a succession of vinyl releases, the first is a selection of four bottom heavy, all-encompassing techno cuts from an unknown artist. Drawing clear lines from the Ukrainian sound that has in turn established Nastia‘s own signature, NECH001 lays the debut underpinnings on a label DJ’s can rely on; a focus on the well-designed musical components that matter.
Rising from a distinctive and thriving techno scene rooted in the purest sense of underground culture, NECHTO promises raw Ukrainian techno energy with no compromises.
2019, the most successful year in BigCityBeats’ history, has culminated in spectacular fashion with their first Snow Edition.
Acting as a Pre-Party for the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Winter Edition held in Düsseldorf in January, for one night only the Jungfraujoch and its beautiful Swiss-Alpine scenery became host to around 140 celebrities, invited WorldClubbers and handpicked guests, such as Jasmin Wagner, Birte Glang, Galia Brenner, Magdalena Brzeska, Giulia Siegel, Frank Rosin, Jan Sosniok, Dominik Bruntner, Jolina Fust, Tanja Brockmann, Louise Thompson and Ryan Libbey.
The idyllic Snow Edition began under blue skies and fleecy clouds, with guests journeying in ICE Club Trains created in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn. The trains left from Frankfurt which, on 5th, 6th and 7th June 2020 will hold the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME: Las Vegas Edition. From there they travelled via Mannheim, Karlsruhe and Freiburg, through the tunnel of the Eiger north face and finally to Interlaken in Switzerland.
Along the way guests partied to live DJ sets acting as the perfect warm-up for what was to come. Upon arrival they were greeted with breath-taking views of the Bernese Alps, which became even more beautiful upon reaching the Jungfraujoch itself.
At 3,500 meters, the Jungfraujoch, nicknamed the Top of Europe, is the highest train station in Europe. Along with the stunning observatory where the event took place there was an Ice Palace and a Sphinx hewn into the glacier below, both of which had first-class DJs and sound systems.
Across all stages there was a hugely talented roster of artists playing including Alle Farben, BigCityBeats star DJ Le Shuuk, who performed on the ICE Club trains, and Swiss superstar EDX, who played on top of the mountain.
Also performing up the mountain was one of the figureheads of the German club scene, MOGUAI, as well as the highly successful Korean DJ DJ SODA, as well as the extremely promising and ambitious Mausio.
The guest list itself was incredibly exclusive, with tickets not available to purchase. Part of the ticket allocation was decided by a giant lotto pot of all WorldClubbers who had already secured tickets for the BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOMEWinter Edition, while the rest went to CEO and visionary Bernd Breiter’s personally invited celebrities, including Jasmin Wagner, Birte Glang, Galia Brenner, Magdalena Brzeska, Giulia Siegel, Frank Rosin, Jan Sosniok, Dominik Bruntner, Jolina Fust, Tanja Brockmann, Frank Kuhlmann and Stefanie Meyer.
Other guests in attendance were Dr Thomas Kemper, Head of Market Communication for Deutsche Bahn Long-Distance as well as British celebrities Louse Thompson and Ryan Libbey. All guests were treated to Frank Rosin’s BigCityBeats Club Kitchen, serving up a delicious feast for the partygoers.
Speaking as CEO of BigCityBeats, Bernd Breiter said:
“I would like to thank the team of the Jungfrau Railway, Deutsche Bahn and Switzerland Tourism, who made this unforgettable experience and my dream of the highest club on earth possible.”
Oliver Heldens is back with one final dancefloor bomb for your 2019, indulging his love of house music with a very tasteful update of a classic.
Built around a chord sample of Kerri Chandler‘s legendary house standard ‘Atmospheres‘, this gorgeous new track from Heldenssees the Dutch producer in a more mellow and melodic mood.
The achingly soulful chord pattern kicks the track off, with an intense snare roll build amping up the energy for the big reveal of the rubbery, melancholic bassline paired with snappy, shuffling beats.
Swooping strings lace the breakdown with a cinematic touch, and chunky claps beef up the snare roll even further. The interplay between the bass and the chords is sublime, and it makes for one of Heldens‘ most beautiful tracks to date.
Out now via HeldeepRecords, this new single caps off another incredible year for Heldens. With hits including ‘SummerLover‘ with Nile Rodgers and ‘This Groove‘ with Lenno, HI-LO club bangers like ‘Poseidon‘ and ‘LazersX999‘ with Chocolate Puma, he has dominated playlists and set lists alike.
His latest single ‘Turn Me On‘, has topped charts around the world and is currently sitting at #12 on the UK Official Top 40 Chart, the record has amassed over 35 million streams globally, in less than 3 months since its release. 2019 was a monumental year for Oliver seeing him place #7 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll, selling out a Heldeep Records World tour, and the unveiling of a statue of him in his home town of Rotterdam. 2020 holds even bigger and better things!
Kas:st release the anthemic ‘Hold Me To The Light’ EP on Afterlife recordings with a Tale Of Us remix.
The French DJ and producer duo Kas:st are behind the highly-anticipated vocal track that has been creating special moments in recent sets during Afterlife events. The original is arranged to journey through downtempo, piano and vocoder sections as well as a powerful peak.
Tale Of Us‘ remix extends its climax into a true dancefloor epic. The vocal breakdown, subtle progressions and monumental sound design is the perfect complement to Kas:st’s own masterpiece.

On the record’s B-side, ‘The Hymn Of Fallen Dreams‘ switches the title-track’s lyrics for a more understated, ghostly lead line whilst retaining its extended form. Closing track ‘Be Yourself‘ is the most direct of the four with a groove and deep pulse primed for the peak-hours.

2019, a year to never forget. Those words hold a certain truth for both Armin van Buuren and Trance fans from all over the world.
With an eight-hour broadcast of A State Of Trance during Amsterdam Dance Event, sold-out events in Utrecht, Madrid, Kiev, Miami, Mexico, Bay Area and Tomorrowland to celebrate the 900th episode with tens of thousands of people at each location, and the release of two albums from Armin van Buuren himself (‘Balance‘ and ‘Moons Of Jupiter‘ under his GAIA alias), the year of 2019 managed to exceed all expectations. And it’s bound to become even better with the highly anticipated release of his ‘A State Of Trance Year Mix 2019‘.
For the sixteenth time in a row, Armin van Buuren locked himself in the studio to select the right tracks for this seminal mix album. Based on the standings of the Tune Of The Year voting as well as some of Armin van Buuren’s personal favorites, the mix album features more than a hundred phenomenal tracks from Trance music’s true tastemakers, including Ferry Corsten‘s Gouryella track ‘Surga‘, Andrew Bayer‘s ‘Magiktek’, Roman Messer‘s ‘Serenity’, Chris Schweizer‘s ‘Near The End’, MaRLo & Feenixpawl‘s ‘Lighter Than Air’, and so many more.
The A State Of Trance Year Mix reflects the evolution of the scene and all of the exciting moments it has brought to fans worldwide. And judging by the sheer magnitude of this mix album’s tracklist, Trance music is bigger and better than ever before.
One of the most talked about remixes of 2019 gets an official release as Camille Luciani’s stunning rework of The Temper Trap’s 2008 global hit ’Sweet Disposition’ comes out on Renaissance Records / BMG.
Camille Luciani, one of France’s brightest new dance talents, creates a stirring and highly atmospheric update of the Australian indie rock outfit’s seminal 2008 anthem, which has achieved cult status in recent years, featuring in the film ‘(500) Days of Summer’ and clocking over 260 million streams on Spotify alone.
“I’d been a fan of the band for more than 10 years”, explains Camille.
“Their music was always there for me; one day I just decided to give them something in return and chose Sweet Disposition, which is a timeless track that I always wanted to bring my vision to. So, initially it was more for fun than an official release. It was only after sending it to Dougy and Lorenzo – the band themselves – that things began to develop. I’m delighted it’s now getting an official release ” he added.
The remix takes the listener on an emotional journey, emphasising the brooding percussion alongside clever layering of the blissful vocal. The poignant piano refrain and swirling, intense beats result in a beautiful, yet powerful reinvention, perfect for peak-time dance-floors, which has already received many ID requests on social media.
Major support has come from globally-renowned duo Tale Of Us who have played it as their closing track on many of the world’s biggest stages, including Printworks London, Gashouder Amsterdam and Ushuaïa Ibiza, each time receiving a euphoric, ‘hands in the air’ crowd reaction
If you want to see an iconic House classic remade and tailored to today’s crowd, who else to turn to but Groove Armada.
Having crossed genres and styles for nearly two decades to deliver scene-scorching results, the U.K. duo push Joe Smooth‘s world-conquering 1987 classic to its limits whilst upholding the track’s rich heritage.
Already played by Danny Howard in his BBC Radio 1 show, the Groove Armadaremix amplifies the wonder of Joe Smooth’s legendary classic. Taking ‘Promised Land‘ on a spin with nostalgic pads and contemporary rhythms, they not only deliver top-tier quality in remix form, but also pay tribute to ‘Promised Land’ as one of the House genre’s most seminal tracks ever made.
Here’s what Groove Armada had to say about the remix:
“Some of the key rules of show business: never work with children and animals, and don’t try to remix one of the greatest house records of all time that you’ve closed a 100+ sets with. But we couldn’t say no to Joe Smooth, and we hope to have done it some justice.”
Founded by Andy Cato and Tom Findlay in London in the mid ’90s, Groove Armada is among the planet’s most loved and biggest selling dance acts. Their debut album, ‘Vertigo‘, sold over a million copies, while their 2010 album, ‘Black Light‘, scooped up a Grammy Award nomination for ‘Best Dance/Electronic Album.
To date, they’ve released seven full-fledged artist albums, sold out gigs from Sydney to Moscow and have been a genuine force to be reckoned with through their iconic GA live show, a pioneering combination of performance and electronics. Add to that their prowess and aptitude as remixers and you’ll be able to grasp the full extent of their magic touch, as shown in their remix of ‘Promised Land‘.

DJ Tennis will be seeing in the New Year with Project Sound and Trafico Music at The Radhoo Hotel in Tulum.
The venue is a tropical hideout in the Mexican jungle with palm trees, a lush pool, close to Archeological sites, the Monkey Sanctuary and Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve among other beautiful attractions in the centre of Tulum. Meanwhile, the promoters are experienced party people who know how to bring the best acts to lei in magical settings with world class light and sound.
This will be an exotic location and magical way to see in the New Year with the Life And Death label boss. He is a master of melancholy, and well-balanced beats that draw on techno, dub, house and plenty of melody and is coming off another busy year of making music solo as well as with Red Axes as Redrago. Also playing will be Öona Dahl and Brina Knauss.
This is an escapist paradise and unforgettable way to see out the old year and bring in the New Year.
No doubt about it, visiting festivals, especially those with huge lineups, can be quite expensive. We chose six with best music experience for their ticket price, and added a few tips on how to get by without breaking the bank.
Compared to regular concerts, festivals are actually quite affordable considering the number of musicians in the lineup. Viberateanalyzed the most popular festivals around the world to see which provide the best musical experience for your money.
For those that made the cut, you’ll pay less than 1€ per artist. Compared to the others, European festivals are friendlier to your wallet, especially if you’re ready to wait by the computer to get time-limited special offers or buy Early Bird tickets.
If you buy the cheapest 7-day ticket for Sziget (Hungary), which hosts over 400 artists, you pay 0.7€ per artist. For Exit (Serbia) with over 500 artists, you only pay 0.3€ per performance, which makes it the festival with the best value for your money.
Tomorrowland in Belgium, Untold Festival in Romania, Primavera Sound in Spain, and Mysteryland in Netherlands lie between those two.
The best advice for getting the cheapest tickets is to look for Early Bird deals and special offers. Make sure you mark the important dates in order to not miss the first ticket release, and note that ticket prices might vary depending on the country you’re from.
Here’s how much the Early Bird ticket for the entire festival without camping will cost you. Most of the festivals last for three to four days, though Sziget lasts an entire week, and the price for Tomorrowland is for one of the two weekends.
Primavera Sound
You’ll find a mixture of Electronic music, Rock, Pop, and Hip Hop at Primavera Sound, happening in Barcelona in June. When the Early Bird period is over, the ticket will cost you 180€.
img Rockstar Photographers
For a week in August, an island on the Danube River in Budapest hosts Sziget, which is similarly diverse when it comes to genres. Tickets with special prices go on sale for a 24-hour period – if you missed the date, they’ll cost you an additional 50€.
Exit festival
If you prefer a more affordable option, there’s Exit, held at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia in July. The prices depend on the country you’re from, but will normally cost you around 110€. Electronic acts account for about 60 % of the lineup, while the rest are mostly Hip Hop and Rock.
Tomorrowland 2019
There were a whopping 678 artists on Tomorrowland‘s lineup over two weekends in July. While the price for the festival might not be as high as for similar festivals around the world, the tickets sell out in less than an hour. The first batch of pre-sale tickets is normally released for the Belgian market, and then they go international. Make sure you don’t miss the date to pre-register. Even though the festival has branched out into other genres, it’s still predominately Electronic.
UNTOLD 2019 Mainstage
In the beginning of August, Untold festival in Romania “releases the magic of Transylvania” for four days at Cluj Arena. The festival also offers pre-registration and covers Dance, House, Techno, and Trance, with traces of Hip Hop and Pop as well.
Mysteryland
Mysteryland near Amsterdam is another mostly Electronic festival happening in August, inviting party animals to navigate its paths around dance floors, ponds, rivers and forests. If you missed the earliest call, count in another 30€.
Tip: Be careful and make sure you get your tickets from a reliable source. We only recommend official channels. There are a lot of scammers out there selling counterfeit tickets, and just imagine the disappointment when after hours of traveling you’re denied entrance because of a fake ticket.
Food & Drinks
In South and Southeast Europe, you can also get relatively affordable food and drinks. At Exit, for instance, you can order a decent meal for about 8€ – not just a slice of pizza, but an entire lunch. And what’s a festival without beer? We did a little calculation for you.
Wonder how many bottles you get for 6€? Beer prices may vary depending on the brand, so we took the average cost per 0.5l into account.
Somebody mentioned free tickets?
There is a way to get free tickets – by volunteering. Most festivals need volunteers for all sorts of jobs, offering free admission, free food, and drinks in return. Don’t forget though, these volunteer positions fill up quickly, so sign up as early as possible.
