Martin Garrix to provide sound of UEFA EURO 2020

Martin Garrix
Martin Garrix

Martin Garrix will write and perform the official song for UEFA EURO 2020 after the Dutch superstar DJ and producer was announced as the tournament’s Official Music Artist in spectacular fashion at the Amsterdam Dance Event on Saturday 19 October.

The 23-year-old revealed the news while performing a headline show in his home town of Amsterdam, one of the 12 host cities for next summer’s finals.

As his blinding set and dazzling lighting show thrilled the sold-out gig at Amsterdam RAI, he provided an unexpected encore by walking out with the famous Henri Delaunay Cup – the trophy that the winner of UEFA EURO 2020 will receive – as the giant screens behind him confirmed he would be the Official Music Artist of next year’s tournament.

The song will be revealed in spring 2020 – and so too a collaboration with a singer. The song will be performed in full for the first time at the UEFA EURO 2020 opening ceremony at the Olimpico in Rome on 12 June 2020.

Alongside the official song, Martin Garrix will also produce the official walkout music, as well as music for use in all official broadcasts.

“It’s an incredible honour to be asked to create the official song for UEFA EURO 2020 and I am so excited to let everyone hear it,” said Garrix.

“Next summer’s tournament will take the fans closer to the action than ever before, and I really hope that my song will make everyone in Europe feel like they are part of it” he added.

Inspired by watching his fellow Dutch DJ Tiësto perform at the 2004 Olympic Games opening ceremony in Athens, Garrix has gone on to achieve worldwide success.

He has established himself as a global superstar DJ with an array of electronic pop hits such as Don’t Look Down (featuring Usher), Scared to be Lonely (featuring Dua Lipa) and In the Name of Love (featuring Bebe Rexha). Garrix has produced songs with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Tiësto, and David Guetta, who wrote the official song for UEFA EURO 2016, and has recently collaborated with Dean Lewis for their new single Used To Love.

UEFA EURO 2020 is being held across the continent for the first time in the competition’s 60-year history, with 12 host cities in all, as part of the European Championship’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome and St Petersburg will all host matches next summer.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, director of marketing at UEFA, said:

“UEFA EURO 2020 will be a month of celebration across Europe, and there’s no better person to get the party started than Martin Garrix. Both music and football bring people together, and with the tournament being played in 12 different countries across the continent for the first time, there will be an overriding theme of unity throughout UEFA EURO 2020.”

Martin Garrix added: “It’s crazy to think that UEFA EURO 2020 will be held across 12 different cities but it’s the perfect way to celebrate 60 years of this incredible competition. Music is my passion but I’m also a huge football fan, so it’s extra special for me to be able to create the official song for what will be the biggest EURO in history.”

Music and football fans can win a meeting with Martin Garrix at the UEFA EURO 2020 final draw in Bucharest on 30 November. To be in with a chance, enter via link.

EEVA releases her debut single ‘Jimmy From The Gym’

EEVA

We’ve all met a Jimmy from the gym. The guy who walks up when you’re on your spinning bike, and tries to get your number? That’s Jimmy. Leaning over for a chat when you’re lifting weights — also a Jimmy. The man who wants to help you stretch? TOTAL Jimmy.

Jimmy From The Gym is also a modern-day No Scrubs for the Insta generation and the debut single by 26-year-old EEVA, aka Emelie Eriksson — one of Sweden’s hottest young songwriters and, as of right now, one of its brightest new popstars too. “Jimmy’s the one who makes the most noises in the gym,” she says. “You should ignore that guy.”

The song started life as a riotous role-call of male archetypes it’s necessary to navigate — we also meet Billy, who’s worth a billi and definitely wants you to know about it — that EEVA wrote for another artist to sing. When nobody else was brave enough, she took matters into her own hands. “It’s definitely a song that’ll divide opinion,” she laughs. “But it’s not hateable. It tiptoes near the line, I admit, but it doesn’t quite cross it. I want people to laugh, and have fun with it.“

Jimmy From The Gym is being released by multi-dimensional UK label The Other Songs, home to RuthAnne, Mabes and Quarry. EEVA says: “I’m so happy that The Other Songs believes in me and my music. I was thrilled when we signed the label contract that I spilled champagne all over it. Now I’m considering making it a tradition every time I sign something – signed, spilled, delivered, I’m yours!”.

There’s a serious side too: “The song’s also about what we call ‘perfect’ these days,” EEVA adds. “Superficial stuff doesn’t really matter in the end. We’re all stuck in the social media wave and sometimes we should take a step back and remember to not take it all so seriously.”

EEVA grew up in Oskarshamn, a small Swedish town best known for its candle factory and nuclear power station. As a teen she wrote books and comics and painted in her bedroom, but her life changed when a song she wrote for a friend’s wedding went viral, and at age 20 she became one of the first-ever students at the Dreamhill Music Academy, established by Swedish pop legend Anders Bagge, who’s worked with artists like Madonna, Janet Jackson, J.Lo and Celine Dion.

She’s now part of the team at Baggpipe Studios in Stockholm, based at the former EMI Studios/(Stockholm Abbey Road), where she has written for artists as diverse as Anastacia, Becky G and Kaiser Chiefs, and recently wrote Bloodshot for Mike Perry.

Jimmy From The Gym is just the first look at this exciting new singer, songwriter, all-round-popstar and self-proclaimed “deeply weird person”. “When I decided to release Jimmy From The Gym myself I wondered what sort of artist I should be,” she says.

“I can’t fake anything, I can’t be anyone else — so I decided just to be myself.”

Amsterdam Music Festival – AMF 2019 delivers record-breaking edition

AMF 2019

On Saturday 19 October, fans from all across the globe travelled to Amsterdam Music Festival – AMF to witness a truly stunning sold-out 2019 edition of the massive Dutch event; a showpiece party in the annual dance music calendar.

Bringing a frenetic energy to a record-breaking capacity crowd at the iconic Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam, more than 40,000 fans were in attendance at the event to witness the crowning of the winners of this year’s edition of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll.

Belgian pair Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike scooped the hugely sought-after award, dethroning 3 x consecutive winner Martin Garrix in the process. The title was the second of their career, following their previous victory in 2015.

Here’s what Allan Hardenberg, CEO of ALDA had to say about this year’s edition:

“This year’s AMF was the most successful and spectacular edition of ADE’s most influential event. It was sold out in record time and more than 40,000 visitors from 100 different countries were in attendance. As organizers of the event, I am extremely proud of our great team of professionals at ALDA and can’t wait to get back to work to all upcoming events on the agenda.”

Packing the legendary stadium with the biggest audience in AMF history, the evening’s celebrations were kicked off by the sounds of fast-rising Dutch superstar Mike Williams. With pop-dance producer and hit-making machine Jonas Blue taking to the decks soon after, the ArenA was quickly filled to capacity, as partygoers from all over the world united for this annual event.

French dance legend David Guetta, whose career has spanned the best part of two decades, was then in attendance to fill the arena with a rapturous set filled with high-energy hits, and massive electronic music classics.

With the packed crowd left stunned by the incredible design of the iconic venue, multi-platinum selling icon and Grammy winner Tiësto performed his first set at AMF since 2015, and had the whole place jumping thanks to his dynamic transitions and powerful anthems.

With the atmospheric cauldron of noise now reaching fever-pitch levels of excitement, it was time for Dutch dance titan Armin van Buuren to send his crowd into a state of trance with a hypnotic 60-minute set.

His performance preceded the explosive sounds of Australian party starter Timmy Trumpet and big room legends W&W; the first time these hugely popular acts had combined for a joint live performance as part of AMF‘s revolutionary 2=1 show concept.

With the glittering cast of AMF also heralding a rapturous set from Swedish progressive prince Alesso, and the pioneer of the future house movement – Hexagonian leader Don Diablo – AMF 2019 was rounded off by the high-energy of hardstyle maestro Coone, who had the tireless crowd bouncing until AMF’s final moments.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike

With cheers erupting throughout the ArenA from start to finish, ADE’s biggest indoor party has truly cemented its reputation as a must-see for any electronic music fan. This year’s show will go down in history as one of the greatest visual spectacles the festival has ever seen.

With fans from all segments of the dance community coming together to celebrate the music they love, AMF 2019 will be remembered by all attendees as one of the greatest chapters in the history of the festival.

Boris Brejcha has released his new single ‘Never Look Back’

Boris Brejcha

Prolific German DJ and producer Boris Brejcha has released his brand new single ‘Never Look Back’, out now via Ultra.

Never Look Back‘ sees Boris Brejcha draw on his trademark brand of driving, melodic techno, with a breakdown in the track’s latter stages then making way for emotive trance elements.

One of the hardest working artists in electronic music, Brejcha released his three-track ‘Butterflies‘ EP back in August. This following on from euphoric single ‘Happinezz‘, featuring the robotic, vocoder vocals of Ginger, and melodic techno roller ‘Gravity’, released the month previous.

Emerging onto the scene with the double release of ‘Monster’ and ‘Yellow Kitchen’ back in 2006, Brejcha has spent the years since developing his own style of music, coined as ‘High-Tech Minimal’.

Last year he dropped a track on the Best Of Cloning Sound compilation to mark the tenth anniversary of the imprint. One of the most talented and hard-working artists in the game, 2019 has panned out to be Boris Brejcha‘s busiest year yet.

DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list for 2019 has finally been revealed!

Dj Mag's top 100 djs

The results for 2019’s Top 100 DJs Poll are in and the winners have been announced. In a shakeup at the top, Belgian brothers and Tomorrowland residents, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been voted the World’s No.1 DJ for the second time, after previously winning the award back in 2015 and becoming the first duo to take the top spot.

DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll provides a global perspective of the electronic music scene’s biggest names. During a three-year period of dominance by Dutch DJ/producer Martin Garrix, brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike maintained constant pressure by holding down the #2 position before reclaiming their title as the World’s No.1 DJs in this year’s edition of the poll.

Year-on-year the global reach of the poll continues to grow. The voting tally for the 2019 campaign attracted more than 1.3 million votes from 179 countries, ensuring the Top 100 DJs poll continues to be the largest publicly voted music poll on the planet.

Receiving the award during Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike took to the stage at the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Awards ceremony in association with the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF), an initiative of ALDA Events and ID&T, in front of 40,000 fans at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Familiar with large-scale stadium shows and having traced these hallowed steps before, Dimitri & Mike marked this win as one of the sweetest victories in their esteemed careers:

“Winning this award back in 2015 was incredible, truly mesmerizing, but this time around it means so much more because as artists, as a family, as a scene, we’ve grown so much and the journey since the last time we were here has taken us on to bigger and bolder projects. Having the fans with us every step of the way is amazing, so to once again be voted by them as their World No.1 DJs means everything to us!”

Over the last few years the award-winning brothers have left an historical mark on the electronic music scene at large. From their position as ambassadors of Tomorrowland, playing a part in the incredible rise of the Belgian event that saw 400,000 revellers celebrate Tomorrowland’s 15 anniversary, to their omnipresent position in music charts and streaming platforms.

With an all-star line-up on one of the biggest songs of the summer, the platinum award-winning ‘Instagram’, with David Guetta and Afro Bros, saw the brothers work with two of the biggest reggaeton names in the world, Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha and crushing charts worldwide. While previously working with artists like Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Diplo, Snoop Dogg Martin Garrix and even Hans Zimmer – the brothers collected 4 Billboard Dance #1s amongst countless gold and platinum awards.

Throw in setting up their own eSports organisation, doing the soundtrack and getting an own playable character in the latest instalment of the Mortal Kombat game franchise, a mammoth season at Ushuaïa Ibiza with their Garden of Madness night, as well as their run of end of year homecoming arena shows with ‘Garden of Madness’ in Belgium (that sees 80,000 people join every year), New York and the UK, plus one-off shows at the Italian Formula 1, UEFA Champions League Final and a gargantuan run of continent hopping tour dates, it’s not hard to see what may have encouraged their worldwide army of fans to back their favourite DJs this year.

“It’s a fascinating poll this year, with a new No.1, lots of movement in the top ten, and more house and techno DJs in the Top 100 than for many years. The poll itself demonstrates that the global scene is still in rude health, and the international feel of it is stronger than ever.” – Martin Carvell, Managing Director, DJ Magazine

The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll is back and not only bigger than ever, but more diverse than it’s been in years. In yet another record-breaking year, a whopping 1.3 million people cast their vote for their favourite DJs, that’s up 100,000 on last our 2018 poll. Once again Top 100 DJs partnered with UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation. Thanks to the kind donations of voters and DJs over the past three years, we have now raised over €112,000 for UNICEF. With this money UNICEF has been able to provide 150,000 lifesaving vaccinations to children in danger.

Other entries in this year’s Top 100 DJs Poll include David Guetta, who jumps up two places to claim the bronze medal, and Armin van Buuren, who holds steady in fourth place, making this his 18th consecutive year inside the top five and claiming the Highest Trance award again in the process.

Right behind him comes masked DJ Marshmello, climbing all the way from No.10 to make his first appearance in the top five, and Don Diablo — once again the Highest Future House DJ — is up one more spot into sixth. Dutchmen Tiësto and Afrojack both drop places but remain in the top 10, and Steve Aoki rounds off the list by climbing back up one place.

The biggest change is Hardwell, who drops nine places down to No.12; however, he’s currently on sabbatical taking some time for himself so this isn’t that surprising, and given all the talk of around mental health and the pressures of stardom this year, we wish him all the best.

Moving down the poll and Brazilian favourite Alok is up two to No.11 — will he finally break the top 10 next year? R3HAB, W&W and Lost Frequencies each drop places, while KSHMR and Eric Prydz both climb three spots. The rest of the teenies is formed of three new additions in the form of Timmy Trumpet (up a whopping 20 spots to No.13, his highest placement yet), DJ Snake (up eight to 16) and Scotsman Calvin Harris (up 21 to 19th place).

Skrillex is unmoving at No.21, scooping the Highest Bass award once again in a year that’s seen him open his already teeming net of collaborators even further. Brit trance trio Above & Beyond are right behind him, hauling themselves up a huge 29 places, while NERVO remain the highest placing women in the chart at No.24. At the tail-end of the twenties, Headhunterz holds on to his Highest Hard trophy despite dropping one spot — his nearest competitor, Angerfist, this year down to 34th place.

In 35th comes the mighty Carl Cox, taking the Highest Techno gong again. Coxy is up 18 places, leading the charge for a new influx of house and techno artists. In fact, 2019 sees more house and techno artists in the Top 100 than there has been in almost a decade. Elsewhere, Drumcode boss Adam Beyer is up 31 places, just pushing into the top 50, while Claptone is up four and takes Highest House for the third year in a row.

Nina Kraviz climbs a massive 37 places into 60th, while Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Paul Kalkbrenner and Solomun remain in the poll too. South Africa’s Black Coffee makes a welcome return after yet another successful season at Hï Ibiza, and there’s a host of new additions: rowdy tech-house lads FISHER — this year’s Highest New Entry — and Solardo join the poll, as do Belgian techno spinner Charlotte de Witte, South Korea’s Peggy Gou, and masked German Boris Brejcha.

The addition of de Witte and Gou shows another step in the right direction when it comes to gender diversity in the Top 100. Mariana BO and MATTN have both gained ground rapidly this year — climbing 19 and 21 places, respectively — and Aussie-born bass DJ, Alison Wonderland, claims this year’s Highest Climber award after scooting up a colossal 52 places.

Other artists making double-figure leaps up the poll include ATB, Mike Williams, Ferry Corsten, Breathe Carolina, Deorro, Carl Nunes, Cedric Gervais, Lucas & Steve, and Andy C, who takes home Highest Drum & Bass once again. Swedish House Mafia are up 21 places too, though Steve Angello has taken a hit and Axwell Λ Ingrosso have dropped out altogether. Overall, there are 11 new entries (one more than in 2018), six re-entries — the highest being Belgium’s Yves V, at No.56 — and five non-movers.

Votes came in from 179 different countries, with the most votes recorded from the USA once again, followed by mainland Europe — the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany leading the charge. Latin America is close behind, where fans from Mexico and Brazil, in particular, have been voting in droves.

In addition to Facebook and Google, the SMS voting mechanism continued to open up voting to anyone with a mobile phone, with around 15% of all votes coming from this login in 2019. This is perhaps best reflected in the increase of voters from China, which is now second behind India in terms of Asian voting regions. Elsewhere votes came in from countries such as Monaco, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, and Iraq.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are once again voted world’s best DJ’s

The DJ MAG TOP 100 was announced last night at the Amsterdam Dance Event. According to the DJ poll organised annually by the British magazine DJ Mag, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike can once again claim the title of world’s best DJs.

The Belgian super duo knocked their Dutch colleague Martin Garrix out of first place, restoring the brothers to the top position that they previously held in in 2015.

The surprise was plain to see on the brothers’ faces last night at the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF). Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are officially the best DJ’s worldwide. More than a million people cast their votes, placing Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in the number-one spot in the DJ Mag Top 100. It is the second time that the DJ-duo get to claim the title of best and most popular DJs in the world.

Here’s what they had to say about winning the award:

Dimitri Vegas: “I have to ‘pinch myself’. Winning the award in 2015 was really cool, but now it means so much more because we’ve been working so hard in recent years and we’ve grown as artists, as a family and as a team, but above all, as a ‘music scene’ that has undergone such tremendous exponential growth, in general.”

Like Mike: “That so many people worldwide have helped us, every step of the way, and have re-elected us as their #1 DJs is such a fantastic compliment. So, a big thanks to our fans, from Willebroek and Boom to South America, India and the rest of the world.”

In 2011, the brothers landed a spot on the list for the first time: in 79th place. Things have moved incredibly fast since then. In 2013, they broke into the top ten, and a year later, in 2014, they were already considered the next-best DJs in the world.

In 2015, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were ranked #1 DJ’s in the world for the first time. Then, for three years, they had to step aside for the Dutch star DJ Martin Garrix, but as of 2019, they are once again back on top. Martin Garrix is in second place this year, by the way, and the top three is completed by David Guetta, followed by Armin van Buren and the American DJ and producer Marshmello.

With their Platinum Hit “Instagram” that they released together with David Guetta & Afrobros just in time for summer, the brothers conquered the charts in every corner of the world with the “Latin Vibes” courtesy of world-famous stars Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha. Plus, the track reached over 200,000,000 streams on the streaming platforms. Add to that their own e-sports team, a solo-project for Mike, some nice cameo roles in movies and their own playable character in the popular fighting game Mortal Kombat 11 for Dimitri Vegas – and it’s clear that jack-of-all-trades doesn’t begin to describe these boys.

The busy summer (festival) season may be behind them, but the Thivaios brothers are about to launch a jam-packed tour. That’s because the Belgian concept ‘Tomorrowland Presents Garden of Madness‘ will be making its American debut. On November 2, the golden Amare-bird will land in New York for an exclusive show at the New York Expo Center.

In December, the Tomorrowland production team will fly to Liverpool. In collaboration with the famous English festival Creamfields, the stage from club Ushuaïa (Ibiza) will be constructed at ‘Steel Yard’, one of the most iconic venues in the Liverpool, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike will provide a spectacular show.

The international tour will end in Belgium. On December 20 and 21, the duo will be appearing at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and they will once again invite plenty of special guests. The production for the Belgian edition of Garden of Madness at the Sportpaleis will be provided by Tomorrowland and it promises to be as mind-blowing as it is magical. Because, one thing we already know for certain is that the breathtaking Amare-bird will be back to play a starring role in all the shows.

A State of Trance revealed its ASOT950 theme and first names on lineup

A State Of Trance Radio Show

The biggest trance festival in the world, A State of Trance (ASOT), has revealed the theme for its highly anticipated ASOT950 Utrecht festival which is set to take place on 15 February 2020 in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.

Announcing the news during a special Amsterdam Dance Event edition of his radio show, Armin van Buuren revealed ‘Let The Music Guide You‘ as this year’s theme, as well as the massive first names on the lineup.

With early bird tickets for ASOT950 having sold out within just over two hours last month, the latest edition of ALDA‘s flagship event is set to prove the most sought-after of all time, with eager ravers from across the globe set to travel to Utrecht to witness a stellar lineup of trance talent.

For the first time ever, attendees of this year’s ASOT will also be able to purchase Weekend Experience Tickets that allow fans to access a special pre-party set to take place in Amsterdam.

The lineup features a truly all-star trance cast. Dynamic duo Aly & Fila will join Armin van Buuren at ASOT950. Firm fan favourite Andrew Rayel will also be bringing his high-energy presence to the venue. The night will also herald a massive show from Giuseppe Ottaviani, who will take to the stage to deliver one of his world-renowned LIVE performances.

Dutch producer Jorn van Deynhoven is set to spin his thunderous tones in Utrecht and the evening will also witness the arrival of trance titans John O’Callaghan and Bryan Kearney, who will play under their alias Key4050. They will be joined by a legend of the trance scene Markus Schulz to round off this massive lineup. ASOT950 is already shaping up to be the most eagerly anticipated edition of the festival to date.

ASOT950 marks the penultimate step in the Road To 1000 series, as ASOT counts down to the celebration of its 1000th episode. With the ASOT radio show – hosted by Armin van Buuren and Ruben de Ronde – continuing to grow, a dedicated fan base of listeners tune in weekly to hear a flurry of classic trance anthems, with the accompanying ASOT events surpassing expectations and growing in stature every year.

With last year’s edition of ASOT event selling out six weeks in advance, demand for the 2020 event will prove more insatiable than ever before, with many fans set to attend the pre-party in Amsterdam on 14 February as well at the main festival in Utrecht the following day.

With Armin van Buuren himself performing a special show opening for the first time ever, Weekend Experience Tickets are sure to prove one of ASOT950‘s most popular options, as party goers from near and far flock to the Dutch capital to soak up the atmosphere of the iconic city.

Tickets for the iconic event can be found via link.

Exclusive Interview with the legendary DJ, producer and label owner Joris Voorn

Joris Voorn

Rave Jungle team had the opportunity to have an exclusive interview with the legendary Dutch DJ, producer and label owner Joris Voorn.

Joris Voorn sits at the epicenter of the Dutch electronic music scene. He is the embodiment of the modern-art and tech-savvy touring DJ, with both feet planted in firmly in the underground techno world, but a keen eye for contemporary art, photography
and a long-standing love of architecture.

Joris is a regular fixture at all of the key nightclubs and music festivals on the global
underground circuit performing multiple weekly shows at events across Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Colombia, Israel, Detroit, Chicago and New York. And despite being one of the busiest men in electronic dance music industry, he was kind enough to sit and give an interview for our publication.

We had a conversation about his upcoming album ‘\\\\’ [four], his thoughts about the music industry, what can we expect from him in 2020 and many more.

Check out the full interview below.

Summer is officially over, what has been a key highlight this season?

“A highlight this year was definitely Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam! I had the honour of closing the mainstage on Saturday and it was up there as one of the best gigs of recent years.”

You’ve been very busy working on your new album ‘\\\\’ [four] which is set to be released on 15th November, how did this all come about?

“I’m constantly making music, however, this collection of songs really came together as a body of work over the last 12 months. The album actually is a tribute to the European electronic mid-90’s period. I was lucky enough to be part of that period and experience all the developments in these years. This period formed the foundation of my musical journey. As you’ll listen to the album, you’ll hear the influences from that time!”

With more than 20 years in the industry, how do you think the music scene has changed? Has your style adapted over time?

“Of course the scene has changed, but not really in a musical way. I feel like, musically wise, a lot more changed during the ’90s. Back in those days, every day was a different day with a different sound. I call myself an artist in the traditional sense. Therefore, I have my own sound and I get inspiration from different influences.”

You’re set to play at ANTS special Halloween event in Madrid, are you excited? You’ve played a few of the colonies tour dates this summer (World Club Dome, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Tomorrowland), which has been your standout show?

“I’m definitely excited to be playing at ANTS in Madrid. For me, all the shows have great memories, but for now I’d like to highlight the ANTS editions at Ushuaïa Ibiza. I’ve been there quite often this summer and every time I returned, I received such a warm welcome from the crowd.”

Is there a track you always play to get the crowd going? What can we expect to hear from you in Madrid?

“There isn’t necessarily one track I always play. I think my strategy is always to listen to the crowd and feel their vibe. This way, every set is a different one. I might add a bit of a Halloween vibe to it…”

Any new acts on your radar that you feel are going to be big in 2020?

“Good question, I would say ARTBAT, who played at my Awakenings show during ADE. There are so many talented artists out there but I’m always looking for acts that have a certain level of longevity in their music. Someone I believe will be around in 10-20 years as well because their music has the potential to be timeless.”

Lastly, what can we expect from Joris Voorn in 2020? Can you give us any clues that are on the horizon?

“The most important event that will happen in a very short period of time will be the release of my latest album called  ‘\\\\’ [four]. I loved creating the music for this album, so in 2020 I’ll just continue with doing that and of course, play at a lot of countries during my album tour up until the summer.”

Joris Voorn is set to play ANTS Halloween special in Madrid, Spain on October 31st. Make sure to grab your tickets on time!

The legendary DJ and producer has announced his next album ‘\\\\’ [four] will be released on November 15th via his new Spectrum Music imprint and has revealed this beautiful album track, ‘Messiah’ just for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
