Ultra Miami considers DJ Sets on Its Transport Busses

Ultra Music Festival Miami

The recent location change of Ultra Music Festival’s venue brings a lot of unknown circumstances that only a time traveler would know how to manage. The new location at the Miami Marine Stadium on the historic Virginia Key is projected to create a bit of a traffic situation during Miami’s Music Week and for the longtime celebrated Ultra Music Festival.

The fact that there is only one road that leads to the new venue creates a pickle for the organizers and planners of the events. Progressive thinking will certainly be required in order to avoid a potential nightmare. The event is one of the most sought-after events in the world, as well as one of the original events that influenced the booming festival scene today. It would be a tragedy for the 2019 Ultra to be remembered for its horrific traffic rather than for its glamour.

Hopefully, lessons learned about traffic problems from TomorrowWorld Atlanta in 2015 will prompt event organizers to problem solve the impending congestion well ahead of time. Despite having tickets to TomorrowWorld, many attendees had to sit in traffic overnight and were unable to get to the event due to the traffic blunder. While the event was glorious once inside, many people were unable to enjoy it. Pretty much any news about the event mentions only the horrible disaster instead of the magical event that it was.

Fans have utilized social media and Reddit to voice their suggestions on how to combat the potential mess. Ideas have surfaced about the possibility of having DJ sets on the transport busses to and from the new location.

Unconfirmed reports state that Ultra Music Festival is listening and considering the option of having full-blown parties to and from to combat the issue.

Time will tell if this is going to fit into the overall schedule, but it seems like a sick plan. They are the ever booming Miami Ultra after all, certainly they will figure it all out with plenty of time to spare.

Joris Voorn unveils latest production: GENOVA

joris voorn

Ever in search of an even-better environment to make music in, Joris Voorn has been hard at work this year constructing a new studio space near his home in Amsterdam.

Having only very recently been completed, Joris immediately went to add the finishing touches on his next single in his new natural habitat. Genova is the result, and it’s been well worth the wait.

A nagging techy beat with a funky undertone drives this infectious track, with monotone synth rhythms subtly rising from the depths to create a tense pressure.

Moments of teasing intensity increase the drama, before a beautiful arpeggiated melody unfolds and with it brings a sorrowful chord progression.

The bass follows in tandem as we head towards a sparse breakdown which strips things down to the bare minimum. A lengthy snare build recalls classic trance as the synths pulse and swell, with a hooky vocal snippet announcing the drop. After some more of that juicy groove, an extended ambient outro provides an atmospheric, heavenly ending.

Joris Voorn“This release was created on a flight to the city of Genova. The name was just a working title, but it stuck with me over time, and made me remember playing the track for the first time on my gig that night in this beautiful city, for a few thousand people.

I’ve been working on it a lot since the first mix, and even though the energy level in the final production has gone up a bit, the soul has been left intact and now shines through even better. Inspiration for the track came from the early days of house music, where a solid groove and a strong synth stab can sometimes be all you need in electronic dance music.”

The Prodigy are back with new single Timebomb Zone

The Prodigy

The Prodigy have unveiled the arresting video for new single ‘Timebomb Zone’. The band’s seventh straight number 1 album, ‘No Tourists’, is out now, with The Prodigy also concluding their massive UK & European headline tour this week.

The explosive, cinematic video to ‘Timebomb Zone’ was filmed in Manila and again directed by Paco Raterta, who The Prodigy collaborated with on the short film for ‘Need Some1’. It’s a suitably visceral visual accompaniment to the track and indeed ‘No Tourists’, with its global themes of frustration, escapism and fighting back.

Paco was our only choice to create the video for ‘Timebomb Zone,” says Liam Howlett. “What he brings visually has a real different edge, tension and danger to it ….it fits perfectly with the music we make.

‘Timebomb Zone’ is a striking highlight from ‘No Tourists’, an album which sees The Prodigy join the unlikely ranks of Paul McCartney and Elton John in achieving seven UK number 1s (no other electronic act has done this). Here is a group who from day one dominated the illegal rave scene, challenged anti-rave legislation and redefined the whole idea of what a band should be like.

3-Day Rave party to be held at Sweden’s weirdest attraction

Technostate Sweden has announced that the 2019 edition of the Scandinavia Electronic Festival will be held at the Dragon Gate Hotel in Sweden between May, 31st, 2019 – June, 2nd, 2019. One might ask, what is the Dragon Gate Hotel, and why would anyone want to host a music festival at a hotel?

In the late nineties, the ambitious Chinese billionaire Jingchun Li had a vision. His vision was to unite China and Sweden by creating a tourist attraction that would demonstrate some of China’s artistic and cultural flair.

Li bought the Swedish Hotel Alvarlen in 2004, and began reconstruction of the grounds to match his vision, which included a restaurant, hotel with conference facilities, grand Chinese castle, rice field, museum with replica Terracotta Soldiers, Shaolin Temple with a Kung Fu school, the world’s largest Buddha statue, and even a live panda bear.

Construction began immediately, however, a series of bumps and setbacks caused a ripple effect of issues which severely delayed the reconstruction. Nearly fifteen years later, the hotel has yet to have its first guest, and many of the plans fell apart completely; yes, the live panda bear being one of them, so no worries.

The only things that have been open to the public have been the restaurant, Buddha statue, museum with its 200 replica Terracotta Soldiers, and gift shop, which opened in August of 2014. Where visitors have scarcely visited the attraction, the grounds remain mostly untapped by the locals and tourists alike. Is there a better setting for a three-day music festival? Probably not.

While details are still unfolding, what we do understand about the event is that camping spots will be available for several thousands of people, which will be made available near the event site. Also, the hotel has reserved 170 rooms for the festival attendees, and will probably book up rather quickly, so those interested should act swiftly to retain one of the rooms.

The lineup for the inimitable event has yet to be announced, but does it really matter considering the stomping grounds? Tickets for the Scandinavia Electronic Festival will be available for purchase on Monday, December, 10th, 2018.

This is one of those things that if it is possible to go whatsoever, then do not miss it. It will go down in rave history as one of the worldwide all-time great events.

elrow release new collaboration with Stereo Productions ‘elrow In Stereo Vol.1’

The last month of the year is here and elrow Music wants to start the celebration early, with the release of its ERM 145th reference, in the form of a Various Artists EP.

And this isn’t just any other EP. ‘elrow In Stereo Vol.1’ is the first collaboration between yours truly, elrow Music, and Stereo Productions, the worldwide recognized platform of Chus & Ceballos.

In this first take, the Stereo crew has taken over our headquarters and have tailored a high rolling EP, with tracks by Chus & Ceballos with Melé, Danny Serrano, David Herrero and Rafa Barrios – all of them, familiar faces of the Stereo family -.

Without a question, one of the big highlights of this V.A. is Chus & Ceballos collab with Melé, showing off their studio trickery. ‘Galera (Original Mix)’ is the track, that starts with a shy energy, but thanks to the African percussion, the atmosphere and melodies that guide the track, the chanted vocals and the overall progression its turn itself into a techy beast, perfect for peak times on the dancefloor.

Danny Serrano‘s take is perfectly recognizable in ‘Levy’s Tale (Original Mix)’, a straight, pitch down, tech house affair, that breks into madness after a great vocal momentum.

On the other hand, David Herrero‘s ‘Rokhaus (Original Mix)’ has a more techno-like vibe, with a darker atmosphere but keeping the housy progression, topped by a great vocal line that appears by the end of the track.

With the same kind of vibe, Rafa Barrios takes part in the EP with ‘Kalengo (Original Mix)’, a deep tech house kind of track, with a truly amazing organ momentum just in the middle of the song, that breaks into total madness making this another outstanding dancefloor bomb.

And keep tunes, as this story will continue with our takeover of Stereo Productions! Watch this space!

Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary Festival Leaks More Details!

woodstock
Woodstock

Anybody that has attended a camping music festival on any scale, knows about the magic that coincides with the experience. Where it can be really difficult to put into words, or to explain to anybody that did not experience it for their selves, does not mean that it is some kind of made up jargon. The magic is real.

The festival scene would not be what it is today if the original Woodstock had not taken place in 1969. For the event, people gathered from near and far to celebrate love, life, music, culture, and unity.

While being conceived as “Three Days of Peace and Music”, Woodstock was so much more than just that. It was the beginning of a revolution that would transpire with time as the festival that started them all. Generations from all over the globe either know about, or firsthand experienced the historical festival that has paved the way for us.

A recent leak from one of the promoters of the original Woodstock has stirred up the hopes of festival advocates, stating that a 50-year anniversary celebration could certainly be on the calendar for 2019. The hype is real.

While details are still a little cloudy, what we do know is that there will be a festival on the original Woodstock stomping grounds in 2019. Confirmation has been released that an event at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, in Bethel, New York will in fact take place on August 16-18, 2019.

New information has been released that the event will not be called Woodstock, will not be affiliated with the Woodstock brand or its co-founder Michael Lang, nor will it be referred to as the 50th Anniversary. It will have similarities to the original Woodstock event, and will be known as “a celebration of music, culture, and community, featuring live music acts, talks, and special exhibitions”.

Even if the event does not hold the Woodstock name, that does not mean that it will not be as massive and potent as the original event. Some legendary artists have been approached as potential performers for this event from a variety of genres including Pearl Jam, Eminem, the Foo Fighters, Daft Punk, Skrillex, Deadmau5, and the Swedish House Mafia.

This event will mesh music lovers from around the globe, and gather them in the same way that the original event did, many years ago. Stay tuned for details, it seems like the only thing that is certain is that everybody should be extraordinarily excited as days unfold toward this 2019 event.

Martin Solveig’s awful comment while presenting award starts a fire [VIDEO]

martin solveig

Misunderstandings are going to happen occasionally when blending celebrities and cultures, especially when mixing one-part electronic dance music culture, with one-part legendary, award winning footballers.

A prime example is at the Ballon d’ Or award ceremony, where Internationally famous DJ Martin Solveig was giving the Ballon d’Or award to Ada Hegerberg. When presenting the award, he asked the superstar if she knew how to twerk, suggesting that she would do it on stage for celebration. It is certain that he instantly knew that he made a mistake as the fire in her eyes lit up and she abruptly said “no” and walked off the stage with a graceful, yet, fiery strut.

Ada Hegerberg, the Olympique Lyonnais star, scored 31 goals last season, along with 15 in the Champions League, which helped Lyon win the Champions League competition. It is an impressive goal count and accomplishment to say the least, but this is not her first time in the spotlight. In 2016, Hegerberg was named the UEFA Woman’s Player of the Year, and has helped her team win the Champions League, Coupe De France, and the French League on three separate occasions.

Her accomplishments make her nothing less than a historical figure, and while she is just scoring goals, and doing what she loves, weather she likes it or not, she is a representative for women all over the world.

Prior to the Award Ceremony, in a pre-show interview, Hegerberg was asked about the male, female aspect of playing continental and International football. She said that she felt like a footballer, not a woman footballer, but a footballer just like everyone else. That she is the same, that her hard work and perseverance has put her where she is. She would go on to further state that sometimes she does feel like she is living in a man’s world, and that woman are often second to men in many situations; but that she feels like we are all equal.

Seemingly from Solveig’s perspective, where many females in the EDM culture take pride in their twerking and dancing, and do it for sport, it was a fun and harmless comment from his side of the fence. From her side of the fence she is a representative for women all over the planet, standing on an international stage accepting an award for excellence, so how dare this person, regardless of who it is, ask her to twerk on an international platform.

Solveig immediately apologized for his comment both to Hegerberg, and to the public on Twitter. He went on to plead his case that it was a harmless comment, and that he did not mean to come across as if he was trying to degrade her in any way. He would go on to say that “People who have followed me for 20 years, know how respectful I am with women”.

Where the comment was certainly out of line, and had really horrible timing, let’s all ask ourselves one question, what was he doing on stage giving her the award in the first place? He is a DJ, that is surrounded by rave culture. She is winning an award for being one of the best football players on Planet Earth. Their worlds are totally different; misunderstandings are certain to come out of that situation. There are no winners or losers in this, simply lessons learned.
