Warning: Plaster and Brown Sugar being sold as MDMA to Festival-goers

how long drugs stay in your system

According to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes 2017 World Drug Report, an estimated minimum of 190,900 premature deaths are caused by drugs on a global scale annually, and that is the low end of the scale.

Staggering numbers that continue to climb let us know that people all over the world like to use drugs. We all learn the dangers of drugs from an early age, and people that take them are fully aware of the potential repercussions of the game that they are playing.

With that said, it does not seem to be making people stop. Now the question becomes how do we keep people safe that are obviously going to use chemicals?

At the forefront of the battleground stands the Loop, which is a non-profit organization that is a drug safety charity. The company uses highly trained chemists to test drugs for the masses at no cost for the people, and in addition to testing the drugs, they also offer a fifteen-minute counseling on drug safety.

People can anonymously bring their drugs to the Loop and find out exactly what it is that they have. After multiple successful test runs at festivals and clubs around England, the Loop decided to branch out and render their services in actual towns to give the non-party types an opportunity to test the strength and quality of their drugs.

The first attempt to branch out was a hit. The pop-up facility in Bristol was available for two separate weekends and was utilized by many people. Authorities and courts supported the movement and allowed the community to test their substances without fear of prosecution or harassment.

The alarming results from the event show that some drug dealers have no soul. Some people just want to make money and will sell anything to anybody for capital gain; even if people die or wind up in critical condition as a result.

Amongst the tests, the Loop discovered that just one out of every five chemicals that were brought for testing was the actual substance that it was thought to be.

In some circumstances, the drugs being tested were simply other drugs, while other times the substance being tested turned out to be plaster of paris, brown sugar, harmful pharmaceuticals, cathinone’s, fentanyl, and other mystery substances.

By and large, the statistics indicate that people who anonymously brought drugs to test to the Loop at music festivals, showed a higher rate of deceit than at the test site in Bristol. While the numbers still were lopsided on the side of erring, it seems as if people dealing drugs at festivals feel like they can dupe people a little easier than in regular, everyday society.

At the music festival Boomtown, the Loop set up and offered its services for the attendees. They reported that 20% of the people that tested their drugs decided not to take them, while 50% said that they would alter their behavior due to seeing the results. After the event, the festival recorded a 25% reduction in drug-related medical incidents.

The impact seems to be showing positive signs of safety. In 2016 at the Secret Garden Party festival, the Loop set up, and as a result, only one drug-related hospital admission occurred as opposed to 19 in the previous year of the event. While it is not certain that this is completely due to the Loop testing substances on site, the numbers speak for their selves.

According to the Loop, “the service not only identifies and informs users about the contents of their submitted sample, and provides them with direct harm reduction advice, but it also enables people to spread information by word of mouth, causing a ripple effect against faulty drugs. We also share on social media, and VIA medical, and other staff at events so that the message can spread far and wide”.

The success of the company is snowballing, and opening eyes and minds around England. This December, the Loop will host its second event outside of nightclub or festival settings. This time the town of Durham will behost to the drug safety charity. The pop-up will be available again on Saturday, December 15, 2018, from 12 – 8 pm at St. Nicholas Church.

The hopes are high that world leaders are paying attention to this on a global scale. It is something that needs to start locally in England and spread to every community in the world where people are taking drugs. The war on drugs has not been very successful in terms of slowing people down from using drugs.

The new war on drugs should involve keeping people safe rather than keeping them behind bars. A war must be waged on faulty chemicals. Drug use is something that governments cannot control. Where it does not mean that drug users should get free for all access to drugs, it does mean that they are going to take drugs, and facilities such as the Loop are showing Planet Earth how to combat the rise in hospitalizations and premature fatalities due to chemical poisoning.

Stay safe out there. Test your drugs always and forever.Lets all thank the Loop for their stance to protect human beings.

The Prodigy Announce North American Tour Dates

the prodigy

In support of their critically acclaimed seventh studio album ‘No Tourists,’ iconic English electronic music band The Prodigy will embark on their first tour of North America in eight years.

Known for blurring the lines between rave and punk music, The Prodigy will be appearing at some of North America’s finest heavy music festivals this spring including Welcome to Rockville, Epicenter Festival, Sonic Temple and Chicago Open Air, with more dates to be announced soon.

The Prodigy will bring their unique sound to festivals stacked to the brim with modern rock luminaries including Foo Fighters, System Of A Down, Ghost and Tool, among others.

The Prodigy have also unveiled the arresting video for new single ‘Timebomb Zone’, which can be seen here. The explosive, cinematic video was filmed in Manila and again directed by Paco Raterta, who The Prodigy collaborated with on the short film for ‘Need Some1’.

It’s a suitably visceral visual accompaniment to the track and indeed ‘No Tourists’, with its global themes of frustration, escapism and fighting back.

“Paco was our only choice to create the video for ‘Timebomb Zone,” says Liam Howlett.

“What he brings visually has a real different edge, tension and danger to it ….it fits perfectly with the music we make.”

‘Timebomb Zone’ is a striking highlight from ‘No Tourists’, an album which sees The Prodigy join the ranks of Paul McCartney and Elton John in achieving seven UK number 1s (no other electronic act has done this).

Here is a group who from day one dominated the illegal rave scene, challenged anti-rave legislation and redefined the whole idea of what a band should be like. They brought UK electronic music to the US heartland, turning metal kids onto raving and ravers into metalheads…effectively reaching global audiences without compromise: seven number 1 albums, 30 million record sales, and multiple honours (two Brits, two Kerrang! awards, five MTV awards, two Grammy nominations).

The urgency of ‘No Tourists’ arguably appears to have tapped into (says Howlett) a wider need for escapism. ‘It’s about the want and need to be derailed and not to follow that easy set path. In these times we live in people have become lazier and forgotten how to explore. Too many people are allowing themselves to be force fed, with whatever that may be. ‘No Tourists’ is about reaching out further to find another alternative route where the danger and excitement may be to feel more alive… not accepting that you can just be a tourist. That’s what the title is about for us.”

‘No Tourists’ has seen The Prodigy return with venom in the way that only they can. They’re renegades, outsiders, outlaws – always hiding in plain sight. Though much has changed in the musical and social landscape, what remains a constant – as well as their unbeaten streak of number 1 albums – is The Prodigy’s resolute focus to always do things their own unique way. The remarkable success of ‘No Tourists’ suggests that in 2018, the urgency and irrepressible spirit of The Prodigy has also never been more needed.

BREAKING: Destructo’s ‘Friendship’ Forced to Return to Miami

As Destructo’s sold-out cruise festival, Friendship, set sail out of the Port of Miami toward Coco Cay, Bahamas, on the Celebrity Equinox for its inaugural event, excitement was at an all-time high. The AMFAMFAMF floating festival features some of the top artists such as Rufus Du Sol, Boys Noise, Dixon, Claptone, Pe and many more.

The newest member of overnight boat parties that have been increasing in popularity over the years in the dance music culture has stirred up quite a buzz in the dance music community for its 2018 event, and has been on the radar of festival devotees from around the world since its release announcement.

Shortly after departure, attendees noticed that the ship was heading back toward Miami, although no official announcement was made by the ship’s Captain or crew. After returning to the Port of Miami, reports indicate that a medical emergency caused the ship to reroute and head back.

When the medical emergency occurred, the ship’s management decided that the situation was better served by returning to port as opposed to waiting for a Coast Guard Helicopter to arrive, which also would have been the more expensive option.

The Celebrity Equinox arrived back at the port around 3:30 PM but was headed back to the Bahamas by 4:45 PM. The delay was rather insignificant in terms of cutting into party time, but a heads up from officials would have been proper form. People began to let their imaginations run wild, especially in the event that their party cruise was heading back to land.

Questions surfaced about police, whether everyone was okay or if the ship was broken, all were discussed among the dancing machines. Hopefully, the medical emergency was swiftly attended to, and those involved are safe and that the rest of the journey is only peace, love, unity, dancing and very late nights.

Have fun Friendship, take lots of pictures for us on land, please.

Black Coffee delivers soothing new production, ‘Wish You Were Here’

Black Coffee

Rounding off the year in style, popular producer & DJ Black Coffee has unveiled the release of his beautifully melodic new single, ‘Wish You Were Here.

Featuring strong instrumental elements with soft piano solos and jazz-inspired influences, the wistful production is topped by the rich vocals of Msaki and follows Black Coffee‘s recent collaboration with David Guetta‘Drive’.

With ‘Wish You Were Here’ displaying Coffee‘s artistic diversity – representing a more stripped-back and downtempo offering to his usual blend of irresistibly rhythmic house sound – the track follows a global run of tour dates for the South African, who has performed at Coachella, Tomorrowland, and New York’s Terminal 5 venue throughout 2018.

1 dead, 16 hospitalised and 130 attendees sought treatment after music festival

Tesla ecstasy pills

Another tragedy struck the rave culture. Following Knockout 2018 – Games of Destiny, a dance music festival in Sydney, Australia, nineteen-year-old Callum Brosnan, from Buulkham Hills, Australia, was found unresponsive at Sydney Olympic Park train station.

He was taken to the hospital and died around 4:30 in the morning. Sixteen other people, including three that were listed in critical condition, and were placed in medically induced comas, were also hospitalized following the event related to the use of harmful chemicals. A total of 130 festival attendees sought treatment following the event.

Five festival goers were arrested on drug-related charges, including one 18-year-old woman allegedly found with 390 MDMA capsules.

“Drug suppliers will do anything to make money,” South West Metropolitan Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Peter Thurtell told reporters on Sunday morning.

“It’s obvious they [drugs] are just not safe. Many young people aren’t getting the message… that these drugs aren’t safe and there’s no safe limit.”

Hearts go out to the friends and family of every one involved. It is a heavy situation. Festival goers set out to the events for the right reasons. They go out to have fun, connect with other humans, have fun, experience the magic and dance. No one expects for it to end in casualty due to chemicals, but it is gut-wrenching when it does.

Media outlets all over the world are trying to spread the word that using chemicals is incredibly dangerous if they are not tested for purity and the absence of known lethal substances. Worldwide reports of fatalities related to substances laced with fentanyl, let us know that chemicals can kill people just by coming in contact with a very small amount.

While it is not always fentanyl, it can always be avoided. Many have forgotten that going to music festivals without using chemicals is an awesome journey.

Tapping into the experience with a clear mind is next-level; however, it is well known that many do seek out popular chemicals such as MDMA, ketamine, and others at EDM festivals and events. Drug testing kits should now be considered an essential part of their festival or event preparation if they decide that buying and using chemicals will be part of the experience.

Little bottles that are about the size of eyedrops, can identify a wide variety of chemicals. They are concealable, relativity inexpensive, easy to use, and are essential in this day and age of raving. It is impossible to identify impurities in chemicals from sight, smell, or taste. It is simply too dangerous to take anything without identifying it first. Impure chemicals that are making people critically ill and worse are being served at raves on a global scale. People should keep the love intact with responsibility.

Organizations like Dance Safe and Bunk Patrol often set up at events and provide a haven for people to discreetly test substances before they are ingested. Critics say that these companies are enabling the culture to use drugs. It is apparent that people at music festivals are going to dabble in extracurricular activities regardless if someone is there to help keep them safe or not. Providing services to keep humans safe is far from enabling, and in fact, errs on the side of humanity.

It is a shame that the lessons must come after a tragedy, but hopefully, as the scene continues to rise, people will realize that they should only use chemicals if they have identified the substance.

The heartbreaking lights that dim as a result of chemical poisoning are too late to rekindle; however, among the million other reasons to remember them, may the loss and mass hospitalizations help open eyes of the masses to the fact that the threat is real, that we need to take care of ourselves and each other, and that safety first is the key ingredient to festivals and raves.

Members of the community must stand against the dangers of chemicals and help keep their friends safe. The more that the word is spread, the more we stand a fighting chance to live to dance another day. This culture is bread of peace, love, unity, and respect. You dancing machines help keep each other safe out there. The rave community will forever mourn the loss of a brother.

Super-talented Colyn delivers brand new EP “Passengers”

Colyn
Colyn

The Dutch upcoming artist Colyn is the one who puts a stamp on the third EP of the label Infinite Depth. With two spacey and great mixed originals he laid more than a good foundation for the remixers.

The title track ‘Passengers’ got remixed by the French brothers Esoteric Circle and the second original ‘Orbital Hypnosis’ got infused by the one and only Erly Tepshi.

With the first track ‘Passengers’ the EP immediately starts off pretty determined. Soon the firm kick gets accompanied by a some pounding drums and well placed spacey synths, sounding like passengers finding their way through our universe chased by those thrilling drum sounds.

Esoteric Circle managed to take the thrilling part of the original to a higher level with their remix. The spacey synths are making place for an appealing melody which increases the tension. This tension holds on till the very end of the track.

After being in a continuous state of space and tenseness the third track ‘Orbital Hypnosis’ adds some euphory. With its compelling break and hypnotical plucks it keeps you in a higher state of mind.

Erly Tepshi’s remix takes you even a little bit higher by using this compelling melody as main flow through his remix. Only this flow makes some unexpected changes at the points Erly injected his typical, sometimes even distorted, plucked synths. With a heavy a breakdown almost at the end of the track this remix brings the EP to an end.
