MDMA treatment trials for alcoholism have begun!

mdma alcohol

After receiving ethical approval, MDMA will soon be used in treatment trials for alcoholism. The groundbreaking trials will be led by London scientist at the Imperial College.

The trials will consist of 20 patients who are all heavy drinkers and relapsed alcoholics. All patients will consume specific doses of 99.9% pure MDMA and participate in meditation and therapist visits.

Ben Sessa, the clinical psychiatrist working the trial believes the drug can be used to treat serious alcoholics just like he was once treated patients suffering from trauma. Here’s what he had to say,

“We know that MDMA works really well in helping people who have suffered trauma and it helps to build empathy. Many of my patients who are alcoholics have suffered some sort of trauma in their past and this plays a role in their addiction.”

“After 100 years of modern psychiatry our treatments are really poor. The chances of relapse for these patients are really high – 90 per cent at three years. No one has ever given MDMA to treat alcoholism before.”

There are hopes to have MDMA-assisted psychotherapy by 2021 in the United States. Major soap company, Dr Bonners, has already donated $5 million towards the drug possible medical benefits.

Armada Music partners with Mad Fox for Amsterdam club nights

After close to twenty editions of ‘Armada Invites’ in its own in-office club and international spin-offs in dance music hotspots such as Miami, Armada Music has announced a very special collaboration in and for the Amsterdam club scene.

The Entourage Group, the driving force behind many of the city’s hotspots, has invited Armada Music to host recurring showcases at high-end underground nightclub Mad Fox. The first edition of ‘Mad Fox Invites Armada’ will take place on May 17, 2018 from 11 p.m. till 4 a.m. (CEST).

With a line-up that includes German top act Thomas Gold, Armada Music CEO Maykel Piron himself and the Amsterdam-based record label’s A&R team, ‘Mad Fox Invites Armada’ is expected to turn into a monthly recurring series that draws artists, industry people and the nocturnal creatures of Amsterdam alike.

Additionally, Armada Music will host a private ‘Armada Invites’ stream event in its own club on Wednesday, May 16 to set the tone for the madness at Mad Fox one day later.

Early 2017, The Entourage Group introduced Mad Fox to Amsterdam – a luxurious, intimate and cosmopolitan nightclub. Created by renowned hospitality entrepreneur Yossi Eliyahoo, Mad Fox brings a unique blend of table service clubbing and futuristic design to the lower floor of the W Amsterdam.

Maykel Piron, CEO Armada Music: “We’ve been doing well in terms of reach, fan support and coolness with the ‘Armada Invites’ events in our own club and the spin-offs in many other places around the world. However, we always felt that some people in the industry were missing out, those who are always working hard to ensure the scene’s growth. We loved the idea of getting them in one place with our artists and Amsterdam’s finest clubbing crowd to enjoy what we love so much: high-quality music that belongs to the clubs.”

Kaskade pens open letter about depression following Avicii’s sudden death

Avicii

There are many theories on the cause of DJ and producer, Avicii’s sudden death. Since hearing the news, many artists aren’t taking the situation lightly and want to shine a light on the importance of mental health.

Although the glitz and the glam of any famous DJ can seem like the ultimate life goal, this recent tragedy is proof that we never know what’s behind closed doors.

To pay his own dues, the American DJ and producer, Kaskade has written an open letter expressing the extreme grief in his heart. Check it out below.

“The week after Tim Bergling’s death, I spent a lot of time at my studio, but wasn’t really making music there. It was a week-long conversation that happened with everyone who came through. With DJ’s, producers and industry people all adding to the thread. I’ve heard many stories and had the chance to sit with my own experiences.

I was told that suicide rates have been rising dramatically over the past decade and it just makes me wonder. How many people in our lives do we look past daily or weekly or even once-in-a-lifetime who need us to look AT them? How many of them just need to hear that we get it, we have struggles too that don’t ever make it to our Instagram feed. What can we do better?

My chance to have that conversation with Tim is gone. I didn’t know what he needed, and likely wouldn’t have been able to give it to him even if I did. But my opportunity to lift up friends, acquaintances and family members who are wrestling to get through every day because they are doing hand-to-hand combat with anxiety, depression, both, or some combination of problems that simply leave them feeling they are not enough is still here.

And right now it feels important that we acknowledge these people and maybe go ahead and admit that we are those people. I can relate to feeling that this life is too much and that I am not enough. Can’t you?

To those who are feeling lost right now: I am so sorry for the despair you feel.

I cannot carry your despair for you and I cannot fix it. But I can let you know that the pictures of perfection we are all forced to reckon with on every online platform and every surface real life interaction are not real. They are a fraction of a picture, not even a corner piece to a puzzle.

Everyone around you has been lost, is lost or will be lost while here on our planet. While that doesn’t change your burden, it is important you understand that you are not less than. You are not defective and you are not broken. At your worst, in the darkest time friend, you are not broken. You can still put your face to the sun, you can reach up to the sky and twist your mouth into a smile. And when you do that, while you are here doing your best even if the only thing you can do is fake a smile to the universe – it is enough.

It’s time to feel passionate about kindness. It’s time to turn kindness inwards, and to stop comparing ourselves to the lies we see online and take the moments we need to give ourselves what we need. Ask for help, take that extra beat with a hug that feels restorative and let the tears go when they need release.

Listen to music that makes you cry and dance and laugh. Be brave enough to share how you feel with a friend. Feel the entire spectrum that lives inside, because we are designed to feel more than perfection. We are here to struggle, persevere and live through every day that’s given to us. More importantly, we are here to grow and become better which doesn’t always translate to immediately feeling happier. It can take years. But we are built for this.

I don’t have a cure for depression, anxiety and the ills of the world. But if my thoughts of Tim over the last few days have led me anywhere, it’s to this place: fight like crazy for the things that restore balance. Help others in their fight. I salute those who have persevered in their struggle to stay in this world, I know it is exhausting. I am so extremely sad for those who have lost that fight. I won’t let this sadness go unanswered, though. I commit to keep my eyes open and to give love, kindness and compassion to those who need it, including myself.

Will you do the same?

Corvad drops brutal debut LP titled “Prime”!

corvad

Introducing ‘Prime’, the debut LP from the multi-talented Russian music producer Corvad – as his musical journey continues forwards on trend.

With a signature sound of deep, down tempo compositions, coupled with punchy kicks & upfront basslines – ‘Prime’ follows on from a host of previous works including the recent ‘Brave New World’ EP – released on AutoKratz‘s revered UK label Bad Life.

A diverse and eclectic collection of avant-garde tracks, Corvad doesn’t stick to a particular style & the LP is a clear testament to that.

With an underlining interest in dystopia & fascination of works including Clockwork Orange, Fahrenheit 451 among others, elements of this clearly carry over into Prime & the album manages to convey feelings of a musical novel, with its dark, deep elements & sense of mystery.

Prime takes stock of two years of studio output & from the opening cut ‘Tesla’, through to ‘Fame’ with vocalist Lady N – across the thirteen tracks Corvad displays his ability to traverse seamlessly across an array of musical soundscapes & with it – deliver an LP with a dynamic & forward-thinking approach.

Listen to a preview od Corvad’s ‘Prime’ EP below!

Corvad has picked up support from the likes of Digitalism, A-Trak, Richie Hawtin, Steve Lawler, The Hacker, The Toxic Avenger, Maelstrom, Make The Girl Dance, Designer Drugs & many more.

Dash Berlin, Oliver Nelson & more remix Frank Walker’s “Footprints”

Frank Walker

Toronto-based producer Frank Walker recently joined the ranks of incredibly talented producers at Astralwerks with the release of his dance-pop hit “Footprints”.

Following his performance last month at Ultra Music Festival, Frank Walker now has a unique grouping of producers taking on remixes for the breakout single.

With the likes of Oliver Nelson and Tobok, Dash Berlin, Metrush, and Stadiumx giving “Footprints” a fresh take, there’s bound to be a version for every mood.

Oliver Nelson and Tobtok add a vintage take to the track with understated piano chords and pop-infused beats and synths. A veteran in the EDM game, Dash Berlin makes their take the go-to festival tune, with sudden, heavy bass drops, a hypnotizing chorus, and sparkling melodies lead by sweet guitar strums.

Stadiumx speeds the track up, making it an energetic bop that’s irresistible, while Metrush adds a dose of house grooves and a bumping bassline. Stockholm-based Trilane creates a time machine out of the tune, transporting listeners to big-room house days and glowstick-filled mainstages.

Joe Ghost’s experimental treatment of “Footprints” allows listeners to focus on Callum Stewart’s vocals, as they’re chopped up and manipulated into melodic additions to create a fully dynamic tune.

Cheat Codes gets into fight with student at a college show! [VIDEO]

Leave it to Barstool Sports to capture some of college’s wildest times whether its a party, a football game or the normal shenanigans. This time, the Fairfield Barstool account caught an altercation between one of the members of the American EDM trio, Cheat Codes and an attendee.

There is absolutely no context to the short clip and all we can see is one of the members, Trevor Dahl, yelling at a man in the photo pit.

Trevor then proceeds to push the man’s face after calling security which sparks a large mass of people to descend upon the unidentified student. We aren’t sure what caused the incident but this definitely isn’t a good look on Cheat Codes, but then again, who doesn’t love a good concert fight.

Avicii’s secret girlfriend releases heartbreaking letter and photos

avicii tereza

The world is still swimming and swirling with the loss of the Swedish EDM DJ and producer, Avicii a little over a week ago. He stopped touring in 2016 and all but vanished from social media’s blinding spotlight.

We recently just got news of his once secret relationship with a Czech model by the name of Tereza Kačerová. She posted pictures of the her and Avicii along with her son on social media following his death along with a letter.

“The first couple days I harassed your friends (are they SURE IT’S REAL?!, demanding proof, WHERE ARE YOU NOW?) and googled articles to read that they had it all wrong. Every time I saw “RIP” and “Avicii” together in one sentence or an end date to your life, I felt shock all over again.

When I saw they had changed your Wikipedia bio from “is” to “was”, I sobbed. I’d stare at it for minutes at a time, trying to decipher why it says that you died on April 20, 2018. It didn’t make any sense.”

Tereza continues on in the lengthy and candid letter, detailing intimate moments between the two as well as her son from a previous relationship, Luka.

“I was always very set on keeping our relationship private because I wanted it to be OUR and ours only and wanted no part in that madness. But I thought, if I’m going to share this with the world, it will be when I’m pregnant with our child. Ohhh how that plan went awry.”

“I used to tell you that I would keep you forever,” her letter continues. “And thought what a big word “forever” was. But now “never” seems so much bigger. I called you a baby angel. Little did I know how soon you would become one.”

The letter is long and spends much time detailing the plans they had for their life together. It seemed as though they had a long life planned, so it is sad to hear that he went to soon.
