Armin’s record label Armada receives death threats after Merzo insults Portugal

UEFA EURO 2016 ended few days ago, so of course we were bound to hear some of the most dedicated football fans. Some people can take their love for sports a bit too far, which might be what Merzo did when he made a recent Facebook post.

merzo portugal ravejungle

This comment didn’t sit well with portuguese people [and understandably so]. Being that Dj Merzo is signed to Armin van Buuren‘s Armada Music, now the record label is receiving death threats.

Armada team responded by saying:

Dear people,

A few days ago, an artist we worked with has posted something (on a personal title and not related to his music) on his Facebook page.

We are receiving very hurtful comments on our social channels, we are receiving hate-mail and our staff is even receiving horrific threats. Apparently some people think they are entitled to hurt us, insult us, threat our company and our staff because they were offended by the post of this artist.

We believe everybody is entitled to his or her opinion and normally do not interfere in discussions between our fans, but we have to draw a line somewhere. Enough is enough.

Armada Music is about music and for us, music is about uniting people in their love for music. Music is not about which country you are from or which gender you are, music does not care about which religion you are or what age, and music certainly does not see your race. Nor do we. Let go of the negative and please help us bring positive vibes into this world.

Love will win over hate!

DJ stays awake for 10 days straight breaking world record for longest DJ set

Beginning June 22 and finishing up July 2, Nigeria’s DJ Obi has broken the record for world’s longest DJ set with a 230 hour [10 days] set in Sao Café Lagos.

After four or five days without sleep he was ready to give up and began hallucinating as he lost control of his body.

I woke up hallucinating after 4 or 5 days and had lost full control of my body…I used the loss my father as an inspiration, constantly thinking to myself that my Dad was watching me and would be disappointed if I failed.

The rules, set by the Guinness World Records, demanded that the DJ have someone dancing at all times. He wasn’t allowed to repeat a song within four hours of playing it but was allowed a five-minute break every hour. Obi was also allowed daily medical checks, massages and vitamins to keep him going.

Check out the video of DJ Obi in action below.

According to the Hungarian newspaper BorsOnline two girls were reportedly found unconscious in EDM duo DVBBS‘ dressing room following their performance at the Balaton Sound music festival in Hungary.

Attendees report that the two girls had been standing in the front row during their set and were invited backstage to hangout with the group. They entered a well protected area backstage, which festival organizers confirmed would not have been possible without artist accompaniment.

Apparently once DVBBS left their dressing room, a festival performer found the girls and immediately called an ambulance. Minutes after hearing what happened, one of the girls mothers called the cops and filed a police report.

A Report from 444 said that 4 men, including the duo, were arrested at Ferihegy Airport in Budapest due to drug related charges. Three of the four men tested positive for a drug test and the fourth was held as a witness. According to the Somogy County Police, the arrest was also made involving the incident about the unconscious girls.

DVBBS responded to the situation by saying:

“We are shocked that some attendees of the Balaton Festival (sic) were victims of events which got them hospitalized. Police asked our cooperation for the investigation and of course we did what we could. Police confirmed there isn’t any link between us and what happened, that’s why we took off a couple of hours later to our next gig in Ibiza. There is another case going on independently from this in connection with marijuana and we gladly answer all questions regarding this and help the police to solve the case. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Alex and Chris (DVBBS).”

Five rapes and more than 40 cases of sexual assault have been reported at Bravalla and Putte i Parken festivals that occurred this weekend in Sweden.

Police recorded five reports of rapes and 12 of sexual molestation at Bravalla, Sweden’s biggest music festival, and 35 reports of sexual molestation at Putte i Parken, a free festival in Karlstad, where the youngest victim was just twelve years old.

“The descriptions [of perpetrators] are diverse, with the one common denominator being that these are all young men,” said Swedish police to Mirror.  One of the victims, Alexandra Larsson, 17, told MailOnline that the men were approximately 18-years-old and that “They were probably immigrants. I hate to say it. But it is the truth,” she said.

One of the performers at Bravalla, Zara Larrson said: “Damn you people who shamelessly rape a girl in public. Damn you guys who make a girl feel unsafe when they go to a festival. I hate guys. Hate hate hate.”

After hearing about these reports, Mumford and Sons announced that they would boycott Bravalla music festival until police and organizers worked to improve security there.

We’re appalled to hear what happened at the Bravalla Festival last weekend. Festivals are a celebration of music and…

Armed police officers have reportedly raided nightclub Amnesia in Ibiza, with the club’s owner Martin Ferrer arrested, in an operation that is said to be investigating organised crime. Police sniffer dogs were also reportedly involved in the ongoing operation, described by respected national newspaper El Mundo as an anti-drugs operation, along with tax inspectors.

The Spanish Guardia Civil entered the club early this morning, four people have been arrested and held at the venue, including club’s owner Martin Ferrer. There is an order of secrecy surrounding the arrests and investigation, meaning that police and officials can’t make a comment on the proceedings.

A spokesman for the Guardia Civil in Majorca confirmed, “There is an operation in progress but the court secrecy order means we won’t be making a detailed official comment today or sending out a press release.”

Tomorrowland Reveals New 450k Person Festival

Tomorowland Belgium 2015

Tomorrowland, the world’s biggest EDM festival originated in Belgium, is in talks with a local entertainment promoter to expand the festival to Thailand.

“Thailand should look to hold more world-class entertainment events in order to strengthen its “travel-tainment” industry and attract more visitors to the country.” said Chatri Tungthiankul, Managing Director of World Planet Entertainment.

Rather than this just being a possibility, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kobkan Watthanawarangkoon said that the Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( TCEB ) is also finding ways to accomplish this enormous project.

This expansion is more likely to happen if Thailand is able to provide a suitable location for this famous festival and accommodation for the EDM fans while ensuring that their transitions in and out of the country runs smoothly.

“We have to prepare a venue that can host up to 450,000 attendees. We will also have to be ready to facilitate the journey for festival-goers from other countries, specifically at the immigration control, because when people travel to the festival in other countries – Belgium, Brazil and the US – their personalized festival bracelet does all the work, including that of a passport.” said Chatri Tungthiankul

Tungthiankul also went on to say China as well as Japan are also interested in hosting the festival.

Three police officers were injured during clashes with ravers at an illegal rave in the North East London town of Walthamstow that lasted more than seven hours. Police were called to the Hurricane Room around 9:45 p.m (Saturday, July 2). where a crowd of more than 5 hundred people were standing outside the unlicensed event.

Police officers attempted to disperse the crowd, but some of the ravers managed to gain access to the building. After that officers from the Territorial Support Group were imediatelly called to the scene to help and assist and the majority of people outside the premises were dispersed.

However, a large number of party goers refused to leave the building, barricading themselves inside. Missiles were then thrown at officers. Police officers finally entered the building  around 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Three police officers, one man and two women were reported to have sustained minor injuries, but they did not require hospital treatment. One man was arrested for criminal damage, another male was arrested for a public order offence and two men were also arrested for supplying a noxious substance.

Armin Van Buuren is returning to his roots with “Old Skool” album [VIDEO]

Armin van Buuren

Exactly a month from now, the king of trance music Armin van Buuren will put out a rather surprising mini album. Entitled “Old Skool” this mini album features Armin van Buuren’s versions of world-renowned dance classics such as Human Resource – “Dominator”, The Ultimate Seduction – “The Ultimate Seduction”, and Speedy J –”The Pull Over”.

Simultaneous with the start of the “Old Skool”mini album pre-order, Armin van Buuren’s version of dance classic “Dominator” has also been unleashed. “Dominator” was originally put out by Dutch dance act Human Resource in 1991 and Armin van Buuren’s rendition proved one of the most recognizable records in his live sets over the past few months, with plays on major festivals such as Ultra Music Festival Miami, The Flying Dutch Amsterdam, Ultra Music Festival Korea, EDC Las Vegas, and many more.

Though few fans would’ve expected Armin van Buuren to deliver an entire mini album so soon after the release of his sixth artist album (“Embrace”), the concept didn’t exactly come out of nowhere. “Embrace” featured a track called “Old Skool” and the tracks comprising the mini album are all part of Armin van Buuren’s ongoing ‘Armin Only Embrace’ world tour.

Check out the clip on the making of “Dominator” and the full tracklist below.
