D’Angello & Francis have started a brand new record label together with Ada Music & Warner Music Group

D'Angello & Francis

Belgian DJs and producers D’Angello & Francis have started a brand new record label together with Ada Music & Warner Music Group. Ravehouse Records focusses on a new breed of mainstage rave, future rave and big room techno, thereby closing the gap between mainstream EDM and underground techno.

D’Angello & Francis have been pioneering in these new genres since their performance at Tomorrowland in 2019, and Ravehouse Records will offer a platform to new and emerging talent, paving the way for the next generation of talented producers.

With this label – which is now accepting demo submissions via the official website – D’Angello & Francis take the next step in their careers, creating a home where unique genre fusions can thrive.

Through this special partnership with Ada Music and Warner Music Group, Ravehouse Records will be a place where D’Angello & Francis can push the boundaries of electronic music even further.

In addition to this pioneering record label, the producers have also started a weekly Ravehouse Radio show and a Future Rave playlist now, both on Spotify, giving fans a taste of what to expect from Ravehouse Records as it grows and evolves over the coming months.

After scoring multiple Beatport chart hits and two USA Billboard chart rankings, Belgian DJs and producers D’Angello & Francis have been positioning themselves as main-stage oriented artists over the past few years.

The duo have produced some amazing collaborations with Bassjackers, Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in addition to performing at big festivals like Tomorrowland. D’Angello & Francis have toured all across the world, including performances during Tomorrowland Unite Festival in Taiwan and a tour throughout Latin America and Asia. With a reach of over 390k monthly listeners on Spotify, D’Angello & Francis are one of the biggest dance acts from Belgium with a clear vision on the future of mainstage music.

D’Angello & Francis explain :

Early 2019 we started producing more experimental by crossing over genres like big room and techno in a mission to Save The Rave, as we felt that the mainstage music was a bit stuck into the same type of EDM-style. During Covid we had the time to unfold this concept even more as we were in the studio 24/7.

Now we have huge tracks ready to be released on our new label. We’re happy to have found a good partnership with Ada Music & Warner Music Group for this. We are confident that the new label will appeal to a lot of DJs and give opportunities to a new generation of talented producers. We will put out sample packs and remix competitions, to help other artists get into the genre. We also hope to start touring with the label as soon as nightlife gets back on track worldwide“.

Ravehouse Records will launch their first release called ‘The Launch‘ on Friday May 21st. Pre-save the track here.

Faithless’ Rollo Armstrong debuts on Armada with new R Plus single: ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’

If there’s anything that his 2019 album ‘The Last Summer’ has taught us, it’s that the innate musicality and artistry of Faithless’ Rollo Armstrong knows no bounds.

Two years after releasing the album as R Plus (with the “Plus” being his Faithless conspirator Sister Bliss and multi-award-winning songstress Dido), he’s back under that very same moniker in the company of singer Amelia Fox, releasing his cover of Joy Division‘s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart‘ on leading record label Armada Music to kickstart his second album project.

Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ meant the world to me when I was teenager, and it still does“, Rollo Armstrong explains.

I stole my first Joy Division T-shirt from a shop in Camden market, and got to fleetingly meet guitarist Peter Hook years later at a party at the Hacienda in Manchester. It took a long time before I felt brave enough to cover this song, before I felt I knew what I was doing as a producer.

To introduce Amelia Fox and the new R Plus album to the world, we thought it would be good to start with this cover. We wanted our version to sound like a piece of music found in a time capsule buried under the now empty DJ booth at the Hacienda, and wanted to capture both the sadness of the song and the late-night euphoria of that legendary club. Can’t blame us for trying.

I’ve been following Rollo’s every move since I heard the very first Faithless release, so it goes without saying that we’re delighted to welcome his R Plus project to Armada Music“, Maykel Piron, the CEO of Armada Music, says.

His reputation as a legendary producer speaks volumes, and we’re looking forward to build on that legacy together!

Solomun & Jamie Foxx team up for a brand new single ‘Ocean’

Jamie Foxx Solomun

Solomun has linked up with singer, record producer and Hollywood A-lister Jamie Foxx on new single ‘Ocean’, out now on his NINL label.

Combining steady kick drums, piercing horns and Jamie Foxx‘s soaring, soul-drenched vocals, ‘Ocean‘ is the kind of sophisticated dance cut that’s custom-made for the terrace. It marks the fifth single release from Solomun‘s long-awaited sophomore album Nobody Is Not Loved, out 28th May, following on from ‘Tuk Tuk‘ featuring ÄTNA, ‘Kreatur der Nacht’ featuring Isolation Berlin, ‘The Centre Will Not Hold‘ and ‘Home‘. The twelve-track LP includes further collaborations with Planningtorock, Zoot Woman, Anne Clark and more.

As with the previous singles from the album ‘Ocean‘ is accompanied an otherworldly video show in Downtown Los Angeles with Jamie Foxx as the protagonist.

Releasing debut album Dance, Baby back in 2009, Solomun has since become one of the most recognisable figures in the world of dance music, remixing tracks from the likes of Depeche Mode, Lana Del Rey and Leonard Cohen and performing at a swathe of globally-renowned festivals, including Coachella, Tomorrowland and Time Warp.

A Hollywood superstar who has starred in films such as Ray, Collateral and Django Unchained, the multi-talented Jamie Foxx has had just as prestigious a musical career, topping the US album chart with 2005 LP Unpredictable and topping the US singles chart with ‘Slow Jamz‘ and ‘Gold Digger‘, both tracks in collaboration with Kanye West.

A unique collaboration between two esteemed artists from different musical worlds, ‘Ocean‘ is dance music at its most refined.

Azealia Banks joins Paul Oakenfold on “Hypnotic”

We’re getting close to the much-anticipated release of Paul Oakenfold’s new studio album, “Shine On.” With a drop date this summer, the run-up to the album has been nothing short of star-studded.

During the summer of 2020, the album’s first single was revealed as ‘The World Can Wait’ featuring the voice of Luis Fonsi, an artist most recognized for his work in ‘Despacito’ with Justin Bieber, which has collectively gained over 20 billion streams. For the album’s second single, “What’s Your Love Like,” Paul Oakenfold embraced his longtime love affair with Hip-Hop in featuring Grammy Award-winning rapper/actress Eve and emerging rapper/producer Baby E in the song.

The trifecta is complete with the album’s third single – “Hypnotic” – featuring rapper, singer, songwriter, and actress Azealia Banks. Joining the party on remix duties is the incomparable Italian dance music icon Benny Benassi and BB Team. The remix dutifully works around the vocals, keeping the essence of Oakenfold’s original intact while incorporating that signature clubby Benny Benassi sound around the edges.

“I’ve always been a fan of Azealia Banks, she’s an incredible talent and it’s so great that we’re working together,” Oakenfold says.

“Having my pal Benny Benassi come in for the remix has been a real treat. We’ve been a part of so many special moments together in the music industry and as always he’s done a fantastic job here.”

WhoMadeWho release their brand new single Mermaids

WhoMadeWho seem to have a penchant for coastal regions and sand in any shape or colour. At the beginning of March, the band impressed with their stunning live performance for streaming giants Cercle in a breathtaking setting at the gates of the temples of Abu Simbel in Egypt.

Now, the trio is heading back to their native west coast of Denmark for their mesmerising new single, titled Mermaids.

Talking about the record, which also happens to be the first official cut from their next full-length studio album due next year, WhoMadeWho commented:

Every now and then people from Copenhagen, the most eastern city of Denmark, need to collect their friends in a car, drive all the way across our tiny country, park the car in the sand, and run like hippies over the sand dunes of the western coast and dance in the wind, the sand and the sea. Often too cold for swimming, but always good for opening your mind to yourself and Mother Nature, Mermaids is about one of those moments.”

WhoMadeWho Mermaids

You’ll have to be patient until you can physically accompany the likeable Danes on their trip to the beach. Until then, you can – as a small consolation – use your sheer imagination. Just close your eyes for about four minutes and, accompanied by the spherical melody and hypnotic vocals on WhoMadeWho‘s new single Mermaids, dream yourself to dancing on sand dunes and the feeling of maritime wind in your hair.

Exclusive Interview with Dubstep duo birrdbath

Hailing from Los Angeles, birrdbath is a new exciting underground dubstep duo to touch down on the electronic music scene. Recently dropping their epic debut EP – titled ‘Flight Plan’, launching their unique high energy sound & providing a tantalising taste of what’s still to come.

We caught up with birrdbath to find out a little more about the guys behind this neon feathered duo!

1. Hi guys, thanks for joining us today & welcome to Rave Jungle! Can you introduce yourselves to our readers & share a little about your respective journeys into the industry leading up to birrdbath?

Thanks for having us, glad to be here!

Taylor – I mostly grew up in metal bands as a kid, and my production journey started with working in studios because we couldn’t afford studio time. I ended up falling in love with production and engineering, and then after that did a 180 and got really into producing pop music. But always had an undying love for electronic music throughout all my musical phases since I was a kid, which shortly after led me into this world, and it has been the most fulfilling so far.

Nathan – Yeah like Taylor i was a metalhead growing up, mostly played drums, and was in and out of bands throughout my teenage years. I was taken to my first dubstep show when I was 18 and that’s when I knew what I wanted to do.

2. Congrats on your debut EP ‘Flight Plan’ – can you tell us about the inspiration for the project & how you went about selecting which tracks would make the final cut?

Nathan – Thank you! We’re excited about it as well. These are some of the first projects we worked on together and we believe this EP is a good display of our progression over the past few years as producers. All leading up to what we’re about to be putting out.

Taylor – We selected these songs because they evoke a certain emotion and tell their own individual stories. We felt that of the first sets of songs Nathan and I worked on together, these had the most personality.

3. Is there a specific meaning or back story behind the name “birrdbath”?

Taylor – Yes, absolutely. We struggled for almost a year to pick a name, we cycled through name after name, and after weeks we would end up hating the names we would pick. It eventually became a match of who could create the most stupid name for our group and it was a disaster. We thought since we both grew up in metal bands that we should pick a name that would fit well to represent where we came from.

One day I got struck with inspiration and said “Why don’t we call ourselves “BLOODBATH!”” and in that moment it’s like a beam of light surrounded Nathan, and he looked me dead in the eyes with a face that seemed absent of any rational thought and muttered the word “Birrdbath?” softly. We had a good laugh and said, “Yep this is it” and now there’s no turning back.

4. When it comes to your collaborative production process, do you each have a specific area you focus on more?

Nathan – Throughout the creation of this EP, Taylor was more focused on melodies, and I was more focused on Sound Design. And we would mostly work off each other’s strengths and embellish each other’s ideas.

Taylor – Yeah, I Feel like we work off each other really well, we balance each other out. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and help each other fill in the gaps. It’s like tag team in the studio. Nathan is also a spazz on drums, he’ll take 5 hours looking for one drum sample if he needs to so sometimes, I’ll sit in the back and work on melodies while he goes through snare after snare. But for real our drums sound really good though so it’s tight.

5. In one word, describe birrdbath’s signature sound?

Bru-Tiful (Brutal and Beautiful)

birrdbath Flight Plan EP

6. What’s been the best show you’ve attended / performed at & what made it stand out?

Nathan – One of the best shows I’ve ever attended was when I was 13 and saw RUSH with my dad. Getty Lee was playing bass with one hand, piano with his other hand, piano with his feet and singing at this time. Someone just needs to get this guy ableton! But as far as EDM goes, my first EDC (2013) was probably the most profound experience I’ve ever had. Also, Zomboy’s Set at EDC 2015 was the solidifying moment when I knew I had to learn how to produce Dubstep.

Taylor – If we are going back to 13 years old, not gonna lie, I saw Kid Rock when I was that age and that’s the show that made me want to be a Rockstar and performer. The energy and stage setup were pretty unmatched and I’m pretty sure he shot fireworks at the crowd. But as far as EDM goes, I saw one of my favorite artists Gorgon City at ‘chella and it was life changing. They had a full band setup and were bringing out all their vocalists, and it was a stellar performance, legit might have cried a little tear of happiness, but don’t tell anyone I said that.

7. And finally, what’s next in the pipeline for birrdbath & any exclusive news you can share with us?

Nathan – We are actually so excited to start releasing all the music we’ve been working on throughout this last year during quarantine. This lockdown really gave us the opportunity to work on our skills and put together an amazing collection of music.

Taylor – The next singles we’re about to put out are going to be some envelope- pushers. There’re some unique and next level things that we’re pretty proud of in the next set of songs. As far as exclusive news, we also have a collaboration in the works with a well-known artist that we both love! …But more on that later (Taylor winks)

DGTL launch 2021 events with DGTL Tel Aviv announcement

As the world begins to open up, Israel’s music community is proud to welcome back global festival giant DGTL for the country’s most successful electronic festival, DGTL TEL AVIV. Tickets for the hotly anticipated September 21st event will be launched on Tuesday May 11th.

Returning to Israel for its fourth edition in five years, the grandiose, 4-stage affair will once again take place in the heart of Ganei Yehoshua Park, with the first wave of line-up due for imminent release.

The team behind DGTL TEL AVIV have spent hours curating a world class collection of artists that promises to celebrate the very best of local and international talent in front of a crowd of 20,000 music lovers from across Israel.

DGTL TEL AVIV will also showcase innovative local art programs and jaw-dropping levels of light and sound production from local pioneers Future Memory.

Since its birth in 2018 the event, in collaboration with the Tel Aviv Yaffo city council, has received warm appreciation from both music lovers and national and international media. Joining an elite list of cities to host DGTL events – Amsterdam, Bengaluru, Santiago, São Paulo, Barcelona and Madrid – DGTL TEL AVIV has fast become the sparking jewel in Tel Aviv’s glittering nightlife crown.

DGTL TEL AVIV will also embrace the festival brand’s internationally renowned, award-winning reputation for producing fully circular, sustainable large scale events that have minimal impact on the planet.

Over the last nine years, DGTL has refined and honed an incredibly ambitious climate-conscious plan to become fully circular in as many areas as possible. With Covid preventing them from presenting the 2020 Amsterdam edition, which would have been the world’s first circular dance festival, it’s clear the team behind DGTL are now actively pushing for the wider world to take notes and put into practice their findings – including the 2021 Tel Aviv edition.

DGTL TEL AVIV will keep the focus firmly on DGTL‘s five sustainability pillars: food, energy, resources, mobility and water. In line with its ambitious plan to follow in DGTL Amsterdam‘s circular footsteps, DGTL TEL AVIV will – among many other elements – offer a plant-based food menu, a cashless environment and work with a hardcup system.

DGTL‘s ambitious goal to launch a new era in circular sustainability for the music event industry and beyond is perfectly captured in an inspirational, David Attenborough-esque video.

A thorough insight into what they term ‘A New Cycle‘, the video encapsulates not just the sense of infinity the current climate conversation highlights but also a sense of hope for the future, of our ability to do something to change the course of events. DGTL sees that change coming not just from their events, Tel Aviv and beyond, but from thousands of separate events around the world.
