Renowned DJ and producer Ruben De Ronde has taken the revolutionary next step in his career by becoming the official ambassador for professional esports organization Team Liquid.

Ruben has been working closely with Team Liquid, one of the biggest and most successful esports teams, based in the Netherlands. Gaming is a big part of Ruben’s life as he has been in a partnership with Twitch for almost 6 years and regularly streams on the platform to his community of fans.

Offering musical expertise to the esports world, this is a continuation of Team Liquid’s musical partnerships which have included a performance by Monstercat‘s group Half an Orange at the Alienware Training Facility in Los Angeles and the “ShowstopperVALORANT showmatch in collaboration with Armada.

Back in January, to kick off their new Liquid+ platform, which rewards fans for their support towards the team, they launched their mascot Blue into outer space with a weather balloon.

For this special ocassion which was streamed on Twitch, Team Liquid approached Ruben to create the soundtrack, and ‘Lose Yourself’ in collaboration with South African singer/songwriter That Girl was created. The base of ‘Lose Yourself’ was born during one of Ruben’s Twitch streams, and around this time, Ruben and That Girl were introduced to each-other during a Q&A Interview.

Lose Yourself’ is a standout track that encapsulates the very essence of what fans have learned to expect from the talented producer. With That Girl’s soaring vocals standing out against a backdrop of beautiful melodies, it is a perfect feel-good track to lose yourself in.

The artwork for the stunning track was created by Alice X. Zhang, illustrator for the likes of Marvel, DC, Naughty Dog (the game developers behind The Last of Us) as well as BBC Series Dr Who. ‘Lose Yourself’ is now available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify.

In line with this groundbreaking partnership announcement, there will also be a Liquid + quest where fans can earn points and special rewards. Ruben made his debut stream as a Team Liquid ambassador on his Twitch channel shortly after the announcement.

This massive partnership between Ruben De Ronde and Team Liquid is just the beginning as there are plans for many more projects in the future.

Honey Dijon completes Trilogy of Sex Positive Animations with video for ‘Downtown’

Alongside the new single ‘Downtown’ from her forthcoming album Black Girl Magic, Honey Dijon delivers the final part in a video trilogy that has accompanied the first three singles from the LP.

Downtown‘ featuring Annette Bowen and Nikki-O follows ‘Not About You‘ featuring Hadiya George, and ‘La Femme Fantastique‘ featuring Josh Caffe. Created by artist and animator Ciaran McCusker, the series takes part in a fantasy underground utopia where Honey reigns supreme, queer folk live as bold and wild as they desire, and sexuality is explored free of inhibition.

In this final video, a protagonist representing toxic masculinity has his eyes opened to a world where heteronormative confines don’t exist. Guided by two clubbers, he embraces the underground kink and glamour, echoing the lyrics of the track, “The underground is where I want to go, leave your cares and troubles on the floor.

With Honey continuing to be a magnet for exceptional vocal talent, the record features London soul vocalist Annette Bowen and Moodymann collaborator Nikki-O, who provide a stunning top-line that purls over Honey’s flawless production. Fluttering synths and crisp percussion transport the listener to necessary nights on the dancefloor, as ‘Downtown‘, with its glints of house classics gone by, shimmers with house excellence.

With ‘Downtown’, I wanted to tell a story in a way that hadn’t been done before in dance music. I have never seen queer culture in animated form and it was purely a desire to do that as artistically as possible. The queer community for me has always advanced the mainstream. I am a proponent of joy and I wanted the videos to be sexual and fun and working with video artist Ciaran McCusker captured the essence of my vision perfectly.” – Honey Dijon

Honey’s clear vision for both the single and the visuals stemmed from some of her personal values. Ciaran describes how he approached the brief:

Honey has always been a forerunner of hedonistic party pleasure, so for us to land this job we were really excited knowing that this would influence the video. The concept for the animation is everything that a party should be in our eyes. A place to lose inhibitions and become free on the dance floor as Honey invites us into the depths of the crowd.

Amnesia presents Pyramid and Do Not Sleep at The Drumsheds in London

Pyramid Amnesia Ibiza

Amnesia presents PYRAMID, a spectacular Dual Staged, Day into Night, Open Air and Indoor Warehouse Party on Friday 3rd September 2021, bringing Ibiza to London for the first time in the city since the last sell out event at Printworks in 2019.

Programmed from midday until 10.30pm, the all-day summer party will witness Pyramid host an open air stage headlined by Ricardo Villalobos, Honey Dijon, Special Request, Mar-T b2b Luca Donzelli and very special guest, The Blessed Madonna.

An indoor warehouse stage is to be hosted by Ibiza born brand Do Not Sleep with Ilario Alicante, Richy Ahmed, Marco Faraone, Sidney Charles b2b Prunk and Ray Mono. After so long away from the dance floor, this is set to be a show that will live long in the memory, and will be the only Pyramid show that will take place in the capital this year.

From the creators of Printworks, The Drumsheds is a ground-breaking new space at Meridian Water in the N18 area, that is easily accessible via London public transport. The former industrial gasworks has four huge interlinked warehouses offering a total capacity of 10,000 people and 10 acres of outdoor space. It is a secluded spot that allows parties to be louder and longer than anywhere else in the capital. The space is a perfect blank canvas that will be transformed with next level production for this Balearic Blow Out.

Pyramid Ibiza is all about taking crowds on an organic journey to another dimension at the hands of the world’s most cutting edge DJs. Pyramid’s unique production and decor is always thought through to the last detail: each event brims with creativity and organic materials, the latest technology, a very special 3D lighting setup and plenty more. This means the party is famed for having an atmosphere that is difficult to explain, an energy that must be experienced to be understood. This might well be your only chance to get a taste of Amnesia‘s rare Ibiza magic in the UK in 2021.

Having hosted its own residency at Amnesia since 2018, Do Not Sleep is equally as influential in Ibiza with a distinctive sound and has been firmly established as one of the most popular parties on the island. This year the brand is setting out on a UK tour with arena shows and festival stages scheduled including Albert Hall, Manchester, Highest Points Festival and Milton Keynes Arena for Halloween, amongst others.

When both brands set to fly into London for this all-day party, you can expect the hedonistic sound of the White Isle from the island’s most famous associates.

Tickets start at £39.50 with a seven day window to sign up which opens on Friday 23rd April at 11am via the link.

Running Pine presents his debut EP on Oddity including Fur Coat Remix

Running Pine presents his debut EP released on Oddity, ‘Shadow’, including a more dancefloor focused remix by label head honcho Fur Coat. The Iranian vocalist and producer Running Pine brings us a highly electronica influenced EP, which showcases the abilities to combine his amazing lyrics, vocals, and sound design.

The opening track ‘Shadow’ is characterised by beautiful strings, crunchy and glitchy beats, accompanied by Running Pine’s vocals, creating a haunting emotive story throughout the track. Fur Coat approaches the remixes duties using the vocal and some key elements of the track to turn it into a more dance floor oriented melodic groover.

Continuing with a similar indie electronica vibe, very influenced by forward thinking sounds, Running Pine presents ‘Run Out’, another catchy vocal with darker sounds, where he dives into a more experimental yet spacey story.

Eclipsed’ is the final cut to close the EP, where Running Pine focuses on an instrumental track with a 4×4 beat, still influenced by glitchy sounds, and celestial melodies. A perfect closing track for any DJ set.

Early DJ support for Running PineShadow’ EP includes Sasha, Dubfire, Pig & Dan, Monika Kruse, Hernan Cattaneo, Joseph Capriati, Emanuel Satie, Julian Wassermann, Raphael Mader, Undercatt, and Oostil.

Running Pine previously featured on Mind Against & Blausch ’Trust My Eyes’ on Afterlife, and on Fur Coat ‘Hurricane’ on Renaissance.

Richie Hawtin & Endel release their collab AI-powered soundscape ‘Deeper Focus’

Endel, creator of personalised sound environments boasting over two million users, and awarded Apple Watch App of the Year 2020, has partnered with pioneering electronic producer and DJ Plastikman (Richie Hawtin) to release their collaborative AI-powered soundscape ‘Deeper Focus’. Backed by neuroscience, the collaboration is part of a larger cultural shift of artists working positively with AI and technology in the future.

Richie Hawtin worked extensively with Endel’s groundbreaking AI and award-winning team to produce a personalised, real-time adaptive soundscape that is infused with his trademark production, resulting in a spacious, stripped-back soundscape that improves users’ focus and productivity.

Hawtin worked hand-in-hand with Endel co-founders, including visionary entrepreneur Oleg Stavitsky, acclaimed sound designer and composer Dmitry Evgrafov and esteemed artist and visual director Protey Temen, to create original sounds and productions matching both his artistic vision and Endel’s psychoacoustic requirements.

These stems were then processed by Endel AI to create а soundscape that adapts in real-time to the user’s location, weather, natural light exposure, and with beats synced to heart rate.

The Deeper Focus mode unites newly recorded Plastikman sounds, textures and rhythms with the Endel AI, exploring a new type of collaboration between myself and technology. As a control freak in the studio it is usually I who has the last word of how a track unfolds, however, in this exciting situation, the AI is the one who decides the final framework.

Although this may sound scary to some, I believe it is just another extension of my belief in technology and it’s intrinsic place within my creative process. If you think about it, technology has always been between me and my audience, and this is no different, only that perhaps the technology in-between is this time a little more intelligent.” – Plastikman aka Richie Hawtin

On-demand state of flow is the ultimate dream for all of us, especially in 2021. Fusing neuroscience, AI, and techno to induce a state of deep focus is an incredibly ambitious task. That’s why we have invited Plastikman, with his trademark precision and architectural approach to sound, to help us build this new soundscape. The result is a hypnotic, scientifically engineered soundscape that feels like a superpower, another step towards our vision of Endel as a tech-aided bodily function.” – Oleg Stavitsky, CEO of Endel

Deeper Focus is the second in a series of collaborations that pair visionary artists with Endel’s science-backed technology. ‘Deeper Focus’ follows Endel × Grimes’ explosive project, ‘AI Lullaby,’ which was dedicated to assisting both sleep and wellness in children and adults. Endel is launching a new section in the app dedicated to its growing soundscape catalog, with more collaborations on the way.

Additionally, a new study has confirmed that Endel’s patented soundscape technology delivers the most consistent focus on the market. Leading neuroscience lab, Arctop, found that Endel’s personalised soundscapes provided the fastest, most consistent focus compared with both silence and popular ‘focus’ playlists on digital streaming platforms. It found that Endel gave participants a massive 7x increase in focus while working. This new evidence demonstrates Endel’s leadership in shaping the future of productivity and wellness.

Protecting Your DJ Business Like A Boss

Being a DJ is like being a rock star: it’s a fun and fabulous profession with a similar lifestyle. However, it’s necessary to take proactive measures to protect your DJ business and equipment. After all, you’re setting up at least $1,400 worth of gear in a rowdy environment. Here’s a quick guide to protecting your DJ business like a boss.

Protecting The Equipment

Being a DJ means investing a lot of money in equipment. Consider how much money you’ve spent on equipment for your DJ business over the years. That equipment is expensive, which makes it a target.

Whether someone’s down on their luck or simply opportunistic, it doesn’t take much to motivate someone to try to steal expensive electronic equipment and sell it. So, how do you protect all of that equipment? When you’re transporting it from gig to gig, it’s simply a case of making sure it’s safely locked away inside cases and vehicles.

Keeping your DJ equipment in locked cases will deter most thieves, but someone intent on using a pair of bolt cutters will still get through. For this reason, consider putting tracking devices either in the cases or somewhere inside or on the equipment itself.

If thieves ever steal the equipment, all you have to do is tell the authorities and show them the tracker so that they can recover the equipment for you easily and promptly. All equipment should also be marked with your zip code in invisible ink.

Protecting Yourself And Your Team

When it comes to protecting yourself and your team, the main kind of protection you need is the right insurance policy. Every business needs commercial insurance: a policy that will protect the business from the cost of unexpected events. To choose the most appropriate policy for you, first calculate your risks, the fundamentals of which you can learn here. By taking out a liability insurance policy for your DJ business, you’ll effectively protect yourself from a wide variety of potentially expensive legal threats.

All it takes is one drunk patron to knock into or fall onto your equipment. Something as simple as spilling a drink accidentally on the electronics can wreck thousands of dollars’ worth of tech. Liability insurance can protect you from being sued, as well as covering the cost of damage to your equipment.

Protecting your DJ business is a must: you have invested in expensive equipment which is essential to your livelihood. Ensure that all equipment is stored securely, and don’t skip key business considerations like insurance. Check out how to form an llc in simpler steps from MoneyBrighter.
