AVIRA drops the first track of his Unplugged series: ‘Miracle (AVIRA’s Unplugged Mix)’.

It’s been eerily quiet on dance floors for a while now. Those places were the perfect spots for artists to connect with fans until the shadowside of 2020 kicked in.

A disconnection occurred, causing the music that previously enriched the lives of both creators and fans to suddenly get lost in translation. And to reestablish that connection, AVIRA emerges with the first track of his Unplugged series: ‘Miracle (AVIRA’s Unplugged Mix)‘.

Cultivating a sense of wonder with every turn it takes, the Unplugged Mix of AVIRA‘s ‘Miracles‘ brings to light some of the most amazing qualities electronic music has to offer in a way that doesn’t require dance floors.

Telling a compelling, heartwarming story through warm vocals and delicate guitar touches, this record perfectly mirrors the marvels of life and the comfort it brings.

The dance floors are where the magic energy of music lives, and 2020 has disconnected artists like me from their fans“, AVIRA explains.

I guess you can say we’ve been quite literally unplugged, as there are no sounds or lights. I wanted to find a way to connect with listeners in places besides the clubs with something that still holds the essence of my records, but with a twist.

I’ve always been a huge fan of music that you can listen to in the car, at the beach, at night, and so forth”, AVIRA continues. “Something to set the mood and give you a chance to breathe. That seemed like something we all really needed this year. That’s how unplugged was born, and you can expect a lot more music to pop up within the scope of this project.

Moog has announced its most budget friendly synthesizer Werkstatt-01

Moog’s popular and accessible Werkstatt-01 Analog Synthesizer Kit and CV Expander return for a limited time, inviting all to get hands-on with the legendary Moog sound.

Werkstatt-01 and its accompanying CV Expander are bundled together for $199, making this the most budget-friendly Moog on the market. The complete kit is now available and shipping worldwide.

Werkstatt-01 is a patchable and compact analog synthesizer. A gateway to the expansive world of analog synthesis, the instrument is a must-have for anyone interested in exploring classic Moog sound and circuitry through the unique, hands-on experience of a DIY synthesizer project. This affordable, easy-to-assemble kit requires no prior electronics experience and is a perfect afternoon (or Christmas morning) project.

The straightforward simplicity of Werkstatt-01‘s design makes it an ideal jumping-off point to discover a limitless new world of analog sound design, and the included 3.5mm CV Expander makes it a no-brainer for everyone wishing to integrate the iconic Moog sound into their music. The 9″ by 6″ musical machine may be small, but the raw power and spectrum of the sound it produces is immense.

From Musical Exploration to Experimental Education

First introduced at Moogfest 2014 as part of the event’s Engineering Workshop, Moog Music’s Werkstatt-01 analog synthesizer has been admired as an essential introductory synth, a powerful standalone instrument, and an enhancement to any integrated electronic music ecosystem. Based on classic Moog circuitry, Werkstatt-01 was created to provide a hands-on understanding of how analog synthesizers work and encourage experimentation with sound through patching and interconnectivity.

Fans of Moog‘s ever-expanding line of semi-modular synthesizers have Werkstatt-01 to thank—in part. The research and design that went into Werkstatt‘s circuits, and the demand for more semi-modular exploratory analog instruments, ultimately led to the development of some of today’s most expressive sound design machines: Mother-32, DFAM, Grandmother, Matriarch, and Subharmonicon.

More than a musical instrument, Werkstatt-01 has also served as an interactive educational tool in STEM curricula. The compact, versatile synthesizer has been the heart of the Georgia Tech Hackathon, a weekend-long competition that takes place each February at the Atlanta university’s Center for Music Technology, for six years and counting. The 2021 Georgia Tech Hackathon will be held virtually; see details here.

The easily mod-able analog synth kit has also proven to be a perfect learning ground for DIY modifications and the science of sound. Moog‘s website features a series of instructional videos that walk the viewer through how to expand their instrument through breadboarding and arduino integration. Watch them all here.

Classic Moog Sound & Circuitry

Werkstatt-01‘s 100% analog circuits deliver the classic soul and futuristic sound Moog synthesizers are known for. Featuring a full-range analog oscillator with selectable waveforms for powerful sound and the legendary Moog Ladder Filter for precision harmonic sculpting, this instrument covers a vast expanse of sonic territory.

Adding movement and modulation is as simple as engaging Werkstatt-01‘s analog LFO circuit to simulate the motion of gently breathing waves, or crank up the LFO speed and summon cosmic laser beams. A two-stage analog envelope generator with sustain gives the user control to shape dynamics, dialing in everything from lush electronic string swells to punchy basslines and organic percussion hits—and everything in between.

The included CV Expander allows the user to enter the endless realms of modular synthesis, where new connections can be made and original sounds are unlocked. Patching inputs and outputs together from the 12 jacks of the 3.5mm patch bay will reconfigure Werkstatt-01‘s circuits to create new signal paths and empower new sonic explorations. The included CV Expander also makes it easy to connect Werkstatt-01 to other Moog semi-modular synthesizers, Eurorack systems, or drum machines, enhancing any configuration with powerful analog sound.

Learn more about the instrument here.

Werkstatt-01 Videos & Audio Samples

To accompany the instrument’s release, Moog shares a new set of Moog Demo Library videos that serve as a complete guide for Werkstatt-01‘s assembly process, calibration, and integration with other semi-modular instruments. Moog also presents “Hivemind,” a performance video that uses eight Werkstatt-01 synthesizers to build a complete track demonstrating the instrument’s versatility and powerful sound. Watch all videos here.

Plus, sonic sorceress Lisa Bella Donna demonstrates Werkstatt-01‘s raw power and wide spectrum of sound with 12 distinct sound samples, ranging from sweeping pulse width modulations to Switched-On style etudes. Listen here.

Global dance music icon Armin van Buuren will host a series of exclusive performances in Sensorium Galaxy, the TIDAL-backed social VR platform that redefines the way people interact with each other and experience the arts.

Armin joins a growing roster of world-leading electronic artists, such as David Guetta and Carl Cox, who are set to share their music in PRISM, a groundbreaking new virtual music world inside Sensorium Galaxy.

Chart-topping artist, music tastemaker and the only DJ in history to top the World’s Best DJs ranking on 5 occasions, Armin van Buuren is a true legend of the electronic music industry.

A regular headliner at world-famous music events such as EDC Vegas, Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, alongside his own internationally-renowned residency at Hï Ibiza, the trance figurehead is also well known for his entrepreneurial flair.

From co-founding Armada Music, one of the world’s most successful dance music labels, to growing his weekly radio show — A State of Trance — into the world’s largest trance community with over 40 million listeners, the GRAMMY-nominated artist continues to innovate and assure his position as of the most influential figures in EDM worldwide.

Having conquered the dance music world, Armin van Buuren has now set his sights on the virtual world, joining forces with Sensorium Corporation, together with The Night League & High Scream, to announce a series of exclusive DJ performances in PRISM, the music world located within the alternate universe of Sensorium Galaxy.

Sensorium will create a photorealistic avatar of Armin van Buuren using state-of-the-art motion capture technology, which will then be used to front the Dutchman’s performances once the platform launches early next year.

The concept of PRISM is developed with the artistic guidance of Yann Pissenem, CEO & Founder of The Night League and the mastermind behind award-winning nightclubs Hï Ibiza and Ushuaïa Ibiza. The environment and landscape of PRISM are ever-evolving, under the influence of sound frequencies and the strength of a sound wave, making it a perfect place for music events of a galactic scale.

Armin van Buuren

Here’s what Armin van Buuren had to say about it:

The virtual environment that Sensorium is building allows artists to set their imagination free and create unprecedented shows that are impossible in real life. By not being subjected to the laws of physics and the boundaries of the real world, I can develop performances where the immersive environment becomes a part of the show, and my fans from all over the world can feel the real vibes of live shows and become active participants of the event. Utilising Sensorium’s technology, this will be the closest thing fans will experience to a real show, as well as a new form of art. Can’t wait for this

To give artists a chance to engage with their audiences at an emotional level, Sensorium uses AAA graphics and advanced social mechanics enabling deeper connections between participants, eliminating social isolation — one of the biggest challenges for current VR platforms. In addition to being able to share the experience with friends, participants will be able to move through the air, experience the show through the eyes of the artist, get a digital autograph, or even a virtual selfie.

Yann Pissenem: “Armin van Buuren is one of the true pioneers of dance music. He has dedicated his entire life to his passion and it is an honour to have him join our project and take his work to a whole new level, a new reality.

The fact that Armin is joining other recently announced, huge calibre artists like David Guetta and Carl Cox clearly speaks to where the entertainment industry is heading. Sensorium’s PRISM is set to become the top virtual destination for music enthusiasts around the globe. Now, the intensity of Armin’s real-life performances will reach millions regardless of their physical location.

The public release of Sensorium Galaxy is scheduled for H1 2021. Whether it is by wearing a VR headset, using PCs, or simply tuning in for streaming with their Macs or mobile devices, users from all over the world will be able to experience the intensity of world-class shows in Sensorium Galaxy.

Tomorrowland releases documentary about the creation of “Tomorrowland Around The World”

World’s best dance music festival, Tomorrowland has released the exclusive documentary ‘Never stop the music – The Creation of Tomorrowland 2020’, giving people for the first time in the existence of the festival a unique behind-the-scenes look.

Discovering the birth of its first ever digital festival “Tomorrowland Around The World“, the extraordinary footage offers a unique glimpse into the story behind the two-day digital music festival experience.

The 17-minute documentary film is a stunning recap from Tomorrowland’s inaugural outing in the digital world – the Belgian festival delivered a cutting-edge online alternative with 8 different stages and over 60 artists in lieu of its in-person 2020 event during this special and challenging year, attracting more than 1 million People of Tomorrow from all over the world to tune in and celebrate together.

Never stop the music – The Creation of Tomorrowland 2020’ features testimonials from more than 25 of the world’s most prominent artists in electronic dance music that performed on the magical island of Pāpiliōnem – the brand-new 3D island environment that was created for festival visitors to explore and navigate the entire festival site in an interactive way together with friends.

Superstar DJs and producers such as Afrojack, Amelie Lens, Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Kölsch, Martin Garrix, Paul Kalkbrenner, Tiësto and many more talk about how Tomorrowland Around the World has pushed the boundaries of music, 3D design, video production and special effects to craft a completely new Tomorrowland location for a unique form of visual entertainment, uniting millions of people across the world and treating festival visitors to an immersive and unprecedented music festival experience.

The exclusive documentary ‘Never stop the music – The Creation of Tomorrowland 2020’ is now available to watch below.

Here’s what some of the artists that performed at Tomorrowland Around The World had to say about Tomorrowland’s first ever digital festival:

Martin Garrix: “Tomorrowland reached out to me and said they had this crazy idea to build the entire festival in virtual reality – like in a 3D world. At first, I was a bit like “let’s see”, but then they started sending me renders of how it was going to look. It was very futuristic and forward-thinking. I think Tomorrowland has always been doing that – it has always been thinking of how it can be one step ahead of any other festival.

Tiësto: “It’s incredible that they pulled it off in such a short time. Hats off to Tomorrowland for the production, it looked unbelievable. It was also great to see the image of what Tomorrowland could look like if they could build an island somewhere in the Pacific.

Dimitri Vegas: “In a way it has given us an opportunity to experiment and take it to the next level. This was not a livestream – this is something totally different. It’s amazing to see what technology can do.

Kölsch: “It was so crazy to see the actual end result – how beautiful it all turned out and how mesmerizing it was. It felt like being at an actual festival.

Charlotte de Witte: “When Tomorrowland called me with the idea of this digital festival, I thought this could be really something – a way of bringing people together. If it cannot be in real life, let’s try to make the best of it in a very unique and virtual way. It’s extremely cool what they have done.

Lodato teams up with Paris Hilton for a brand new record “I Blame You”

Lodato

Paris Hilton is firing on all cylinders with the of her new record “I Blame You” produced by LODATO, just a few weeks since the release of her Documentary “This is Paris”.

The iconic entrepreneur jumps back into the music scene, teaming up with arguably the hottest new EDM/POP producer, LODATO (who already had two consecutive #1 dance radio/Billboard hits this year). Those are just some of the several successful singles Lodato boasts under his belt, so we can be sure that the two are cooking something really special.

Their partnership has been steady for a while now, with LODATO even showing up with Paris on Sirius Xm’s BPM to celebrate the release of her documentary.

The Lyrics of “I Blame You” shows Paris Hilton‘s more serious side, which seems to mark her shift to a more sober tone as an artist. This shift in identity is deep to the point where she has actually surprised fans by giving an interview “out of character”, where even her talking voice was different from what the world was used to.

As for her documentary, in which she details her difficult childhood and all the drama attached to it and shines a light at “the real Paris Hilton”, it certainly has been stirring waters, not only putting into question her “Blondie” persona while highlighting her role as the first influencer but also serving as a gateway into the conversation about abuse.

Her tragic story has shaken so many hearts that the online campaign #iseeyousurvivor has abuse victims from all over talking about the trauma they went through.

This is Paris has also found relative success among critics and the laymen alike, exposing a more vulnerable side to the celebrity that everyone believed to know well.

And Its all for a good cause, Paris, LODATO & the label Overdrive are donating all of the records proceeds to Breaking Code Silence. At the end of the day there is a lot to take from the pairing of Paris Hilton and LODATO, both in terms of music, but also the broader social impact it brings. After all, Paris is a pop culture veteran that even through criticism and harsh realities was able to build not only a legendary name for herself but also to do it with a smile and unyielding altruism.
