NERVO: “We have been good buddies with the Wolfpack boys and have been touring together for many years, so when they asked us to collaborate, it was a no-brainer. We are super chuffed to be releasing this under Got Me Baby! Records, a new imprint under the legendary Armada Music. We cut the vocals ourselves and did most of them in London, but kept tweaking for months and months. We’re happy with this final mix and hope everyone loves it as much as we do!”

Martin Garrix’ side project AREA21 returns with new track ‘Glad You Came’

This track is the fourth release for Martin Garrix’ AREA21 since emerging on to the music scene in 2016.

“Glad You Came’ is following on from previous tracks ‘Girls’, ‘Spaceships’ and ‘ We Did It’ with which they became a viral success by racking up millions of streams and generating much interest and intrigue among the music industry.

The artwork that AREA21 have chosen for their releases reflects the concept; futuristic, extraterrestrial, edgy but yet simplistic in its predominant monochrome colouring and carved text.

The track opens with a slow building chord progression alongside a soft vocal and melody before breaking into a stronger, rhythmic attitude filled rap sequence through the verse.

The chorus remains heavily electronic and it is this play between electronic and hip hop sounds that give this track perfectly balanced moments of light and shade.

New synthetic ‘No Hangover’ Alcohol is a game changer !

no hangover

On my 21st birthday I woke up the next morning to hear glorious tales of my conquest against my liver the night before, full disclosure I remember nothing past 12:30 am. I had obviously been successful considering I spent the day puking out internal organs and battling the worst migraine of my life.

Hangovers are easily the worst part about having too good of a time and drinking in copious amounts, but what if I told you that you could drink and not have a hangover?

That’s right, a London scientist by the name David Nutt (Yes that’s actually his name), has created a synthetic alcohol that comes with no hangovers. If this sounds too good to be true, then you’re right, it is.

The first problem is that the United Kingdom has a severely negative opinion on synthetic drugs, and on top of that the cost of safety tests and regulations could reach around $12 million. Fear not though, this niche recreational drink has many positives that could make it a fan favorite across the world!

This synthetic alcohol would be revolutionary in the fact that it would not interact with any other receptors in your brain except for the GABA receptors which are responsible for the production of things like dopamine.

There are two variations that are ready to taste now and Dr. Nutt said:

They go very nicely into mojitos. They even go into something as clear as a Tom Collins. One is pretty tasteless, the other has a bitter taste”.

I can’t wait to try this oddity one day but we shouldn’t be expecting it anytime soon as Dr. Nutt projects it to take over traditional alcohol by 2050.

Martin Garrix and David Guetta dropped beautiful collaboration titled “So Far Away”

Cast your mind back to August, when Dutch superstar DJ and producer, Martin Garrix rocked Tomorrowland‘s mainstage with a set crammed full of exclusive new material. One of the highlights was when he brought out David Guetta to premiere their track ‘So Far Away’, which is out today.

A particularly laidback offering from this powerhouse EDM duo, the track features beautiful male and female vocals from Jamie Scott and Romy Dya. Melancholy guitar licks breathe life into the track as Scott’s gentle tones segue in. The bridge/chorus lays on dense layers of his vocal harmonies, and the teasing drop yields bombastic bass, kicks, vox synths and larger-than-life chords.

Romy‘s more urgent delivery provides a sweet counterpoint to Scott‘s vocals, building the emotion and energy until they unite in melodic perfection. Stunning string arrangements deck out the outro and complete the perfect package.

The release is accompanied by an official music video, directed by Damian Karsznia, that shows two worlds: the world we live in and a world that displays feelings, thoughts, emotions and dreams.

The storyline features a young couple who were once in love and are currently struggling with the fact that their relationship has ended. The different elements and objects used in the video create a powerful message that perfectly fits the energy of the track.

DGTL wins price for most sustainable organization in Amsterdam

DGTL Amsterdam

DGTL, the festival organization from Amsterdam, Netherlands can now officially call itself the most sustainable entrepreneur in Amsterdam this year.

Announced on Wednesday 22nd November at the annual DAM price ceremony, the jury – consisting of Maurits Groen, Alexandra van Huffelen and Bas Rüter – praised the organization for its pioneering work with a circular economy and making sustainability clear and tangible for the city and its citizens.

DGTL stands out from the large supply of festivals because of their unique focus on sustainability and innovation with their DGTL Revolution. They aim to be the first circular festival in the world which is fully waste- and emission free by 2020. An ambitious goal which Alderman Abdeluheb Choho totally agrees with.

dgtl

“We of course think it’s amazing that we, as a festival organization, have won the award! Festivals are often seen as polluting and the cause of nuisance, but with this award we can show everyone that the exact opposite is the future. With our sustainable approach we will do our upmost best to make Amsterdam, and the rest of the world, a bit greener.” according to Milan Meyberg – Sustainability Manager at DGTL.

With festivals in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Tel Aviv the organization hopes to be a sustainable example for the Dutch dance-industry and festivals worldwide. DGTL is meat free, they work with a hard cup rotation system, they have initiated a raw material plan instead of a waste plan, all merchandise is sustainable and they recycle the urine of its visitors for extraction of struvite.

The sustainable policy of DGTL has also caught the eye outside of Dutch borders. Recently the organization was nominated for a FestX Award in the category ‘Outstanding Green Event‘ and has won the Spanish Premios Fest Award for Spain’s most sustainable festival for its edition in Barcelona.

Part of the DGTL team was also part of the Dutch delegation for Smart City Expo in Barcelona, where the city of Amsterdam won the Circular Award for the best program in the circular economy.

The next edition of DGTL will take place on the NDSM-wharf in Amsterdam during Easter weekend in 2018 from Friday 30th March until Sunday 1st April.
