Set About label boss, Metodi Hristov releases his ‘Contact’ EP

Metodi Hristov

Riding high off the back of his most successful year to date, Set About label boss Metodi Hristov grabs 2019 by the horns with the announcement of his brand new extended player, ‘Contact’.

Out now via Set About – the Sofia-based imprint, which he set up in 2015 with partner-in-crime and fellow DJ/producer Gallya – ‘Contact’ sees Metodi team up with Serbian-born producer, DJ Lion, for the label’s second EP release of the year.

Kickstarting the record with the title track ‘Contact’, Metodi combines acid basslines, deep, throbbing kicks and rave-inspired synthesisers to deliver a seven-minute techno weapon of epic proportions.

On the flip, DJ Lion joins the Set About head honcho for the mind-bending closer ‘No Interaction’. Here, unrelenting kicks are paired with sporadic drum sequences and more acid-tinged bass as two of the fastest-rising talents on the techno circuit close out the EP in emphatic fashion.

Metodi Hristov’s ‘Contact’ EP comes just a few weeks after Set About’s huge end-of-2018 event at Hristo Botev Hall, Sofia on December 21, where he – alongside label partner Gallya – were joined by a selection of the label’s finest talent, to showcase Bulgaria’s thriving electronic music scene to over two-thousand techno enthusiasts.

Black Coffee delivers emotive new video for ‘Wish You Were Here’

Black Coffee

Producer & DJ Black Coffee has today unveiled the beautiful video to accompany his latest single, ‘Wish You Were Here.

Filmed in his native South Africa, the video depicts separated lovers longing for each other, all shot amidst the inimitable African landscape. Featuring strong instrumental elements with soft piano solos and jazz-inspired influences, the wistful production is topped by the rich vocals of Msaki who also features in the emotive video.

Wish You Were Here’ truly displays Coffee‘s artistic diversity, representing a more stripped-back and downtempo offering to his usual blend of irresistibly rhythmic house music, like his recent David Guetta collaboration, ‘Drive’.

Black Coffee’s career is at an all time high and has over the past year performed at the likes of Coachella, Tomorrowland, and New York’Terminal 5. He also had his second residency at Balearic super-club Hï Ibiza last summer and has rapidly established himself as of the biggest stars of the global electronic music scene, reaching double platinum selling status with his multi-award winning album ‘Pieces Of Me’, in addition to working with the likes of Drake, Jorja Smith, and Alicia Keys.

Kitty Flipping, Nexus Flipping and other dangerous drug mixtures

With the recent advancements in extended global medical research that are showing significant medicinal benefits locked inside of various psychoactive chemicals, the world is becoming aware of the groundbreaking healing values that chemicals like psilocybin, THC, MDMA, ketamine, and even very mild and occasional doses of LSD all possess.

Amongst other things, they all have similarities in how they help humans break through emotional and psychological chains, but individually they have additional unique traits that are truly making a positive difference in the lives of many people.

The chemicals are making a tremendous impact in helping people deal with an assortment of issues. Independently, when administered by trained professionals for medicinal purposes, they are proving to ease emotional and trauma, PTSD, multiple different types of anxiety.

Outside of medical research facilities, in the real world, the many humans that do take drugs are essentially doing their own independent field research. Some people use the chemicals strictly as medicine, they follow a microdose regimen for the specified substance, and do not even feel the effects of it. Other people take it for reasons involving consciousness expansion or to get a taste of another dimension, and of course, some people just like to get high.

Not all humans like the way that hallucinogenic or disassociative substances make them feel, where others attempt to travel as far as possible through chemical passageways into something unexplainable. After some experienced traveling through the abyss of the universe, people sometimes gain an affinity for the journeys and chemicals.

Somewhere along the chemically induced travels, a certain percentage of travelers turn into “Psychonauts”, which are individuals that explore altered states of consciousness, unique states of mind, and possibilities outside the mind altogether.

Though the ideas and concepts behind it all are still new to many people, old school psychonauts have been portal hopping for many years, and despite the warnings of the medical professionals, they do mix chemicals, and they even have named the various mixtures with nicknames.

While each chemical combination has its own set of risks people need to be aware of and researched prior to attempting, the most popular combinations in the world of Psychonauts is “Kitty Flipping” which is a mixture of ketamine and MDMA, “Nexus Flipping” is MDMA and the psychedelic 2C-B, “Candy Flipping”, the most widely known, and it is a mixture of LSD and MDMA, “Hippie Flipping” is when one mixes psilocybin mushrooms with MDMA, while the heroic “Jedi Flipping” is a mixture of LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, and MDMA.

People need to be very careful when mixing some chemicals, especially when mixing alcohol is involved. A good time can end up to a trip to the emergency room for people that throw caution into the wind regarding mixing things.

When chemicals mix, bad things can start to happen to peoples bodies, and the medicine could turn into something else, possibly even deadly. It is not recommended to take drugs or mix chemicals, however, it is apparent that people are going to do it anyways. It is recommended for people with beginner and intermediate experience to use caution, and not try to hang with the seasoned Psychonauts.

Ja Rule announces Fyre Festival 2, after the epic failure !

Fyre Festival 2

Determined people rise up in the face of anything that stands in their way, controversy, legal issues, ridicule, public shame, popular documentaries, and countless hilarious memes included. The Fyre festival was such an epic failure that two separate documentaries exist that demonstrate the complete fiasco of the attempted event.

Netflix and Hulu each have their own “mockumentary”, and they each show the true depth of the failures surrounding the festival, but that has not stopped one of the founding fathers of the festival, Ja Rule, from attempting to move forward and create a legitimate version of the festival that ever so publicly crashed and burned.

Ja Rule had a vision that was the Fyre Festival, and he teamed up with Billy McFarland to turn the dream into a reality. They sold the dream to the masses before having a solid game plan to actually operate a functioning festival. The money was coming in thanks to some convincing trailers that lured potential attendees in, as well as a mobile app that was a first of its kind that was developed by McFarland. The money, unfortunately, was not being used to fund the festival, but instead, it was going to McFarland’s pockets.

The public was bamboozled by the next level marketing, despite not having any substantial truth behind the appealing videos. McFarland wound up with a six-year prison sentence, and was ordered to forfeit, $26,182,386 million dollars following the uprise and social media storm the revealed the lies behind the Fyre Festival; and seemingly Ja Rule’s vision would become reduced to ashes in everyone’s eyes but his own.

Presumably most people know about the embarrassing Fyre Festival, but for the unaware, the event promised to host yacht parties with models, high-end catering, and performances from star-studded music acts, but instead was an event that had flooded tents with no bedding, a severe lack of food and water, and no accommodations for the guests that paid money to be there, it was all the way botched up for everyone involved.

The hip-hop mogul Ja Rule has admitted to not watching either documentary about the Fyre Fest, and while talking with TMZ, he stated:

“I lived it, and do not need to watch the videos about it”. I am not ashamed of Fyre at all, because man, the idea, it was brilliant. It was beyond brilliant, it was amazing, but it was not what I dreamed of it being, and what I envisioned of it being, and what I wanted it to be. It just was not done properly.”

In a fascinating display of being completely blind to rightful public discrimination, Ja Rule said:

“It’s not funny to me, it is heartbreaking. It’s something that I wanted to be special and amazing, but it did not turn out that way. In the midst of chaos, there’s opportunity. It [Fyre Festival] is the most iconic festival that never was. I have plans to create the Iconic Music Festival.”

It has been confirmed that Ja Rule has a team in place to carry the vision on, Fyre Festival 2.0 has been confirmed to be an actual thing, only this time it will be called the Iconic Music Festival, which he confirmed with TMZ as he told them “but you did not hear that from me”.

Confirmed reports of an app called Iconn is currently in production, and it an app similar to the Fyre Festival App. Ja Rule said in a public statement:

“It is kind of similar to what the app was, but you have to understand the app was separate from the festival, different teams were working separately on the app and the festival”.

There is not much information regarding the future plans for the Iconic Music Festival, but we do know that it is absolutely in the works. Time will tell if the uphill battle by Ja Rule and company is going to be successful or not.

For anyone, which is a good majority of people on Earth, that knows about the horrible Fyre Festival event, certainly will be skeptical of anything related to it. It is possible to turn it around but it is going to take something the equivalent of a miracle to pull it off. May the force be with you Ja Rule, you are going to need it.

Tomorrowland has dropped a new cryptic teaser and we wonder what’s the big announcement

tomorrowland
Tomorrowland 2018 :The Story Of Planaxis"

Words cannot express the magnitude of the experience of the Belgium based music festival powerhouse Tomorrowland. Nothing on this planet can come even close to matching its sheer force. There is no competition, at all.

Recently, the music festival dynamos unleashed a preview into their “The Book of Wisdom, The Return” edition coming up this summer in July. Two separate weekend dates scheduled for 2019, and a phase one lineup drop which includes diverse stage area takeovers by the hottest acts in the electronic dance music industry, has everyone all shook up. The 15th anniversary of the event is one for the ages. It is the one.

As if there was anything missing from the already symbiotic event, Tomorrowland decided that it was going to mess with everybody’s head and they dropped a cryptic video that teases something special. The entrancing fifteen-second clip will have viewers trying to grasp what it is that they just saw, exactly. While not trying to dissect too much, there does seem to be something there. Tomorrowland is all about opening hearts and minds, so it is a brilliant tactic to get everyone’s wheels turning.

After watching the fifteen-second clip flash numerous times, and collecting information coded within, it has been determined that Tomorrowland loves you. Just joking, it certainly does love you, which is obvious by the continuous display of fifteen years of badass music festival events, but the cryptic messages seem to hint that perhaps a Tomorrowland based One World Radio station will reach every coordinate in the world come July and that people can expect a Swedish House Mafia stage area takeover.

Expect nothing but singular flare from the sole music festival that has a global impact. The experience is unexplainable. We should all feel grateful that they are helping us all seek the depths of our minds to try to crack the code, that is a form of love that is lurking in the distance.

The One World Radio hint was pretty blatant, however, the Swedish House Mafia hypothesis was a little more thought-provoking. The subtle logo of Tomorrowland can be seen three times in a 3×3 format, with a second image showing the words “tune in soon”, which also is written three times, in the Swedish House Mafia’s typography. Furthermore, the past year SHM has been sending out cryptic messages using their 3x trademark, so it seems to make sense.

Either way, this event should be on the bucket list of all dancing machines from around the globe. Over 400,000 people attend the festival each year, and it sold out in less than an hour, which is unfathomable. There is a reason for the hype. We hope to see you there Tomorrowland.

Check out their official teaser below!

20 yr-old girl caught with 114 MDMA capsules in her underwear at music festival

It seems as if at many electronic dance music events around the globe, that security is mostly lenient regarding illegal contraband that gets discovered at events. On one hand, If security finds an illegal substance on an attendee, they typically either confiscate it, or they turn their heads and look the other way as long as whatever was found was blatantly being used for personal use; even by actual police with drug dogs. On the other hand, if an attendee is found to be in possession of amounts that are obviously for sale and distribution, then that is when people get arrested and the course of their lives potentially  become negativly impacted.

Case and point, a young college student that is in school for neuroscience pled guilty on Tuesday for attempting to smuggle 114 capsules of MDMA into a music festival last September. Following her failed entry into Defqon 1 Festival in Sydney, Australia, 20-year-old Tracy Nguyen was caught by authorities and drug dogs for trying to smuggle in the MDMA before getting through the front gate.

The drugs were discovered after she was acting nervous and erratic around the police, her behavior qued the authorities to become suspicious of Nguyen, and they approached her with drug dogs. Once they were in the same vicinity, the drug dogs targeted her as somebody that was in possession of drugs. She was taken to a private area and stripped searched. She was found to be in possession of the capsules that were hidden in her underwear inside of a yellow condom. Once the MDMA was discovered she was arrested and placed in police custody.

While facing the Penrith Local Court, facts were brought to light that after she was detained the police went through the young scientist’s cell phone and discovered incriminating text messages to some of her friends. To one friend, Nguyen texted:

“Gurl would you be able to get it off someone else inside. I’m alrdy bringing 12.34g. I’m scared coz its my first time for dq. But ive done a few indoors before. And everyone says dq has 30 dogs and 100 polices”.

It is reported that the contact wrote back that “There are like 2-3 dogs max. But yes there’s heaps of cops”.

Official court record according to The Daily Telegraph, stated that after she was detained she told the police that was innocent and did not do anything wrong, however, during questioning, she admitted to the police that the capsules contained the letter “M” on them (for molly), and that she found them in a park. Her guilty plea was accepted and she will be sentenced in March.

Australia is not the toughest place on the globe to get arrested for the imposed crime, earlier this month a young woman that was found guilty for her part in attempting to smuggle drugs into a different Sydney based music festival for distribution was sentenced to no jail time at all following a guilty plead, and essentially just got a slap on the wrist. Only time will tell how the local court is going to handle the conviction, but it is certain that Nguyen has learned a valuable life lesson.
