Tiga & The Martinez Brothers release ‘Blessed EP PT 1’

Tiga

After offering an auditory glimpse of their collaborative EP in the form of first single, ‘Blessed’, Tiga and The Martinez Brothers return with another three tracks. ‘Blessed EP PT 1’ is available now and is comprised of ‘Cleopatra’, ‘Aphex N Girls’, ‘Late Nite’, all of which came to exist after the Canadian artist and American DJ duo forged a fruitful friendship last year.

Tiga was originally meant to produce tracks for the DJ duo, but the sessions soon evolved into a full-fledged collaboration. The three men manned the studio in psychic unison, laying real-time drum programming and minimal storytelling over a techno foundation to create atrulydynamic dynamic. The result is some of the best work of their careers.

“Chris and Steve brought a deep knowledge of house music and DJ energy-flow, while I left my deep hatred of live studio jam sessions at the door,” adds Tiga.

“These tracks are tougher, funkier and weirder than 99.3% of contemporary dance music, and it’s all because we were brave enough to get sincere and real.”

“Blessed is a project that came together through the back stages and parties,” said The Martinez Brothers.

“It’s been labor of love and a pleasure working with Tiga. He’s been one of those artists we’ve always wanted to work with for a long time, and it’s really cool how we’ve built a real friendship over the years. That’s our brother right there. Been listening to his stuff for a long time, and he’s great at making hooks. He was coming up with all these hooks right on the spot in the studio. Everything about us and Tiga just flows.”

Released under Tiga’s imprint, Turbo Recordings, the esteemed producer continues to push the boundaries in the underground electronic music scene as 2018 marks 20 years of Turbo Recordings.

“Blessed” is already in heavy rotation both in the clubs and on the radio by Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Laurent Garnier, The Black Madonna, Busy P, Felix Da Housecat, Huxley, Josh Wink, DJ T + more.

The EP is also available on a picture disc vinyl, designed by Fuji2Apple & PK. Available in all major record shops and on Turbo’s bandcamp, here.

Revellers in Orlando were one of the first to experience the EP live as Tiga’s Turbo 20 tour commenced last week. His tour across the USA takes in legendary venues such as Kings Hall in New York, Spin in San Diego, District in Atlanta, Exchange in Los Angeles and finally back to his home turf, StereoBar in Montreal.

Part II of the collaboration is set for release on The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin’ Headz label under the name The Martinez Brothers & Tiga, an inspiring nod to the importance of fairness in project credits.

Insomniac EDC Orlando 2018 [Review]

EDC Orlando 2018

This year’s EDC Orlando marked the 8th time the magnificent festival has landed on the grounds outside of CampingWorld Arena, formerly known as Tinker Field. With three massive stages, the Corona Electric Beach, and the fan favorite BoomBox Art Car, this warm-weather wonderland gave attendee’s everything they could possibly dream of.

Over the past weekend, Insomniac Events invaded Tinker Field and saw it’s biggest turn out yet with over 110,000 festival-goers in attendance across two days. The event took place November 9-10 in the sunny and beautiful city of Orlando, Florida. As we all know, Insomniac never fails to deliver their state of the art production and this year saw no difference with three stunning stages, a slew of rides and countless unforgettable experiences.

Each year EDC Las Vegas lends three of it’s stages, the glorious kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS and the intimate neonGarden. Along with each stage came amazing VIP viewing sections, private restrooms and bars, kandi making stations and your very own swimming pool at kineticFIELD. It really can’t get much better than that.

EDC Orlando VIP

Day 1 definitely brought the heat, and you could quickly feel that with the excitement and vibes. It seemed like no matter what was happening in the world, for one moment, one weekend, everything was going to be okay.

The lineup up for Friday had the perfect mixture of the old and the new, House music, Trance, and of course Dubstep. Headliners such as Alesso, Bassnectar, Jochen Miller, Martin Garrix, Pendulum and Dillon Francis all shined brighter than ever under the electric sky.

Day 2 had an equally talented lineup if not more. Major standouts were Kaskade, Illenium, Alison Wonderland, Tiesto and the amazing B2B set of Nervo & ALOK. One of our favorite sets was Tiesto, as he was tabbed to play the sunset slot absolutely killed it.

Tiesto @ EDC Orlando 2018

One unfortunate incident was the fire that started during Kayzo‘s set that kind of freaked everyone out. Luckily everything turned out to be just fine and the following set starting right on time.

This year’s lineup had so many talented artists to choose from and we thank Insomniac for that. They really have mastered the art of creating a fully immersive playground for attendee’s that leave us with memories that will truly last a lifetime.

EDC Orlando 2018

We heard Dillon Francis tease a new collaboration, Alison Wonderland‘s new remix of ‘God is a Woman’ and also her cello. Other artists such as George Acosta and Jochen Miller who are the legends of their respective genres seemed to so easily take us back to a more simpler time, it was magnificent. So much happened in just two days, and I cannot wait to see what is new next year in Orlando.

Eelke Kleijn reveals stunning third artist album: ‘Moments Of Clarity’

Eelke Kleijn

Inspiring Dutch producer Eelke Kleijn proudly presents his third stunning album: ‘Moments Of Clarity’. Drawing on his career DJing on dancefloors around the world as well as his work as a film & TV composer and his background playing piano, guitar and bass, it effortlessly blends club sounds with the melodic integrity required for home listening.

Here’s what Eelke Kleijn had to say about this brand new album:

“‘Moments Of Clarity’ is about those rare moments where everything seems to come together and fall into place”, he explains.

“You find them in all aspects of life, not just in music. They don’t come along often, but when they do I always treasure them. Every track on the album finds its origin in one of those moments.”

Clarity is indeed the watchword here, both in terms of his refined production aesthetic and the composition of the tracks themselves. Every element is felt in precise detail. Nothing is wasted, nor overcooked.

‘Maschine 1.0’ kicks off in classic Eelke Kleijn fashion, with graceful orchestral strings gliding over a delicate, atmospheric groove, building to a dazzling melodic synth solo. ‘Lost Souls’ takes a more direct approach, with Ost‘s sublime vocals and dulcet pianos pitched against brooding, driving bass tones. ‘1,000 Lights’—originally composed as part of a huge drone installation at Burning Man—provides a dreamy respite with its twinkling pianos and beatless beauty.

‘The Calling’ is a joyous slice of dancefloor gold, with subtle melodic elements and pleasing bass throbs cut through with a bold lead line. ‘Drive’ takes its cues from classic Italo disco with its pleasingly arpeggiated bass and synth combos, making for a fist-pumping, uplifting ride. ‘Glass Waves’ provides a mesmerizing, cinematic interlude that makes Kleijn‘s prowess as a film and TV composer incredibly clear, while the brooding low end and beautiful scales of ‘Punta Cana’ take things into a darker direction.

‘De Orde Van De Nacht (Part 2)’ is a continuation of the 2017 original, and is a wonderfully atmospheric breakbeat roller with soaring pads and chord progressions, while ‘Mojo’s Tale’ is a slinky slice of progressive house driven by an elastic, funk-fueled bassline. ‘Maschine 2.0’ increases the intensity of the album to its most potent peak, with rasping techno synth rhythms and taut percussion driving this hard-edge track forward like a juggernaut.

It’s no surprise that it has been a huge track in Solomun‘s sets in recent months. The title track is another sumptuous breakbeat number, with the album’s most stunning string section working its way over a spacious, glacial arrangement. ‘René‘s shimmering, trancey tones make for a perfect ambient closer to round off this magical record.

The upcoming prospect of his new live/DJ hybrid shows is incredibly exciting, with the music on this superb record perfectly suited for dynamic recreations with a degree of spontaneity. Sophisticated, accomplished and diverse, it represents everything that’s so compelling about this continually flourishing artist.

Morgan Page’s ‘The Longest Road’ 10 Years Anniversary EP01

Morgan Page

Morgan Page’s 2008 single ‘The Longest Road’, featuring Lissie’s now iconic vocal is, without doubt, one of the most important records in modern US electronic music, a cut so sweeping and sublime that it captured the imaginations and hearts of a new generation of clubbers and spearheaded one of the biggest cultural youth movements in the history of the United States.

Today, Morgan Page celebrates both the track and its impact on the dance music scene and his career by releasing the first of three special edition remix packs of ‘The Longest Road’ which will combine to form a 10th anniversary compilation album.

The first ‘The Longest Road’ EP features three remixes – a brand new remix from Steff Da Campo, the 2012 bootleg remix from Vicetone now released officially for the first time, and the song’s most famous edition, the original 2008 Deadmau5 remix.

Nominated for a GRAMMY for ‘Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical’, the Deadmau5 remix heralded the breakthrough of dance music into the mainstream American consciousness. Hypnotic, relentless and masterfully giving Lissie’s beautiful vocal room to stretch, breathe and soar across the production with spine-tingly effectiveness, it was, and still is, one of the most celebrated remixes in US electronic music.

In 2012, Dutch duo Vicetone released a bootleg remix of ‘The Longest Road’. With its melodic big room twist, sweeping synths, euphoric vocal and driving bass, it swiftly became one of the biggest white label tracks to feature across festival and club sets from countless DJs around the world. Now with the release of the 10th anniversary remixes and to the delight of fans, the duo will see their edit as a full, official release.

Steff Da Campo, a rising Dutch star with a growing number of Beatport #1s under his belt (‘Out Of My Mind’ [Axtone], ‘Make Me Feel’ [Hexagon]), turns in a lush Future House cut of the single, shifting between warm piano house elements and twitching, squelching bass FX, pulling them together with absolute precision for a remix that will do just as well on playlists as it will on the dance floor.

With a slew of new music coming on Armada Music stretching far into 2019, it’s clear that Page remains as vital and as relevant today as he was a decade ago, continuing to release music that inspires another new generation of music producers and fans alike.
