Dutch Dj and producer, Martin Garrix and MIKE YUNG performed their single ‘Dreamer’ live for the very first time on Good Morning America. The track was released exactly one week ago.

The accompanying, powerful music video showcases exactly what the song is about; passion, hope and faith. Spreading the overall message that you can find the strength as long as you got something to believe in.

MIKE YUNG: ”Everybody has a dream, so never give up your dream and never give up period. The key is to find something that you love and stick to it, and who knows what might happen.”

‘Dreamer’ is a collaboration of Garrix together with MIKE YUNG – a former soul singer with an incredible story that’s both heartbreaking and ultimately triumphant. He spent 38 years busking on the subway to support his family in the projects in Brooklyn before appearing on the hugely popular TV show America’s Got Talent, where he made it to the semi-finals, but this is his first collaboration with an established artist like Garrix.

After being wowed by a video of Mike singing ‘If you don’t know me by now’ in the subway, Garrix got in touch with him and asked him to join on a project. After meeting in New York for the first time, YUNG came to Amsterdam where ‘Dreamer’ was created in Garrix’ Amsterdam based studios.

Martin Garrix: ”This song represents Mike’s story, but I want people to play this song at home when they need motivation, when they need that extra push.”

Darude teams up with JVMIE for ‘Timeless’ classic in the making

darude

For his second release on Gareth Emery and Ashley Wallbridge’s Garuda imprint, Darude unleashes ‘Timeless’ alongside U.S. Billboard Top 2 artist JVMIE.

After the success of the Finnish dance music star’s first Trance offering to Garuda, this brand-new single is set to achieve huge acclaim as JVMIE’s captivating vocals perfectly complement the legendary production.

The track opens with a signature Trance momentum that builds towards soaring beats atop rolling snare builds and drops, accompanied by JVMIE’s epic vocal. Maximum impact is achieved in the midriff of the six-minute release, which undulates through a snappy Trance beat and vocal to elevate the track to unmistakable club status.

‘Timeless’ sees Darude collaborate with Gold Coast star JVMIE. The Australian singer has been topping charts and wowing international audiences in recent years, peaking at number 2 in the Billboard’s Club Dance chart with ‘Back 2 Love’, a song with Grammy-winning producer Dave Audé.

A finalist in the Artist Of The Year category in the GC Music Awards, JVMIE’s latest single ‘Chasing’ was listed in both ‘Best of the Week’ and ‘Hot Tracks’ on Apple Music, and reached top 30 on Billboard’s Club Dance chart.

After returning with a completely reimagined label ahead of their 10th anniversary in 2019, Garuda looked to bring fresh, dynamic material to the Trance scene, and Darude’s previous single ‘Surrender’ was one of the first.

The Paradise Reals touches down with the forthcoming ‘Revolution’

the paradise reals

The Paradise Reals touches down with the forthcoming single titled ‘Revolution’, on revered UK label Sonic Heavy.

An idea from a dream that’s becoming a reality for producer Matt Jarrett. Realising the potential of Detroit Techno and its influence on modern music culture, he’s creating a sound that fuses different styles but maintaining a soul that is distinct to the genre. A studio has been especially setup for the project with choice pieces of analogue tech he has collected. In an effort to establish a unique take, mixing in a love of Breakbeat and Dub Reggae and focusing on collaboration with singers and talented producers.

A lofty ambition. Matt considers Detroit Techno his most powerful influence because of it being as he describes “a Pandora’s box with the lid off”. Its creators, with their first bold visions, still amongst its greatest moments. Presented a brave idea to move music further into the future but with real soul and depth of emotion, inspiring a generation of producers.

It became the main emphasise behind the record company he founded, Sonic Heavy. Merging a long held love of UK breakbeat demonstrated with his work on Marine Parade and you have the melting pot of influences that’s unique to this record.

This first four track release for the ambitious project is titled, ‘Revolution’, A timely and much needed social commentary within a pounding bass-heavy icon for the dance-floors, featuring the vocal talents of singer songwriter Rachel Bernard.

Plus three fantastic reconstructions from Broken Spectrum, Tommy Mundell and Matt Jarrett. Expect much more from this project in the near future with further singles and album soon to come.

Stay tuned as ‘Revolution’ fires up in the coming weeks.

Boom Jinx dropped brand new single ‘Come Alive’ ft. Katrine Stenbekk

Boom Jinx

It’s Silk Music’s honour to present ‘Come Alive’, a collaboration between veteran electronic music composer Boom Jinx, promising California-based duo Z:N, and honey-voiced singer-songwriter Katrine Stenbekk, with whom Boom Jinx’s striking musical chemistry was first revealed on the 2015 album, ‘No Answers In Luck’ [Anjunabeats].

It is no small moment in Silk Music‘s label’s history to welcome Boom Jinx to their ranks, as his early works (including ‘Too Free To Follow’ and ‘Remember September’) were influential to the development of the label’s emotive, deep-progressive sound.

Beginning with a gentle groove, ‘Come Alive’ quickly offers listeners a touching reminder of Katrine Stenbekk‘s many gifts as both a lyricist and vocalist. Her words poignantly reflect her struggle to navigate the loss of a loved one – no small task, given the many daily reminders of his absence.

Meanwhile, Z:N and Boom Jinx‘s chilled, if not buoyant instrumental offers a soothing counterpoint to the lyrical themes. A ‘deep’ rendering also appears on the ‘Come Alive’ single, which proves to be a more atmospheric and melancholic take, underpinned by a jazzy, late-night bass line.

In summary, this release is reminiscent of Boom Jinx‘s aforementioned classics, which is to say: the celebrated Norwegian talent, not to mention his gifted collaborators Z:N and Katrine Stenbekk, have graced us with a mellifluous, meaningful, and deeply moving song.

6 Essential Tips that help new artists promote their music!

promoting music

How can emerging artists strengthen their voice and get their talent noticed? Promoting a music group is an uphill task taking into account the big changes that completely transformed the music industry over the last five years.

From how you get your stuff out there (think Spotify playlists instead of music albums) to how you make your own music site – now you need a more strategic approach to manifest your band. Here are some ideas to help you start off.

1. Learn your target audience.

Who will be interested in your music? What’s their location and social status? Learning these things from your social media analytics will help you in strategizing tours, marketing your music, and releasing an album (digital or physical) that hits the target.

2. Make your own music website

Promoting with social media becomes harder and more expensive. Your own website will give you a better freedom and tools for promotion, shaping your identity, and keeping your fans updated on gigs, videos, images, and so on.

However, just launching the website isn’t enough; you should keep its content fresh and engaging. Think about blogging. Don’t be focused on your band only, but think wider. Sharing opinions about your genre and music industry issues will not only make your website more relevant but also draw more traffic to your site.

Tip #1. Make sure your music is easy to find and buy/stream/download on your website.

Tip #2. Work on SEO optimization to get found in a search engine (working hyperlinks, correct keywords in content and titles, easy navigation, music videos containing the group name and the song title, etc.). Consider consulting with a reputable SEO firm to further enhance your site’s visibility and drive more targeted visitors. This can significantly impact how well your content performs in search results, crucial for a burgeoning music career. Keep tracking on how effective your website is using analytics (who, how, and from where visits your website).

3. Get your music out there – everywhere

Making your music and videos easily accessible on free platforms such as YouTube, SoundCloud or BandCamp, you increase your chances of getting discovered and… loved. You can also embed the content from these platforms to your website.

According to a study, a video is the most winning kind of content in terms of grabbing attention, so think of the ways (vlogs, tour videos, live performances, interviews, etc.) you can increase your video expansion on the web with. Also, don’t forget to leverage the analytics features of the platforms to track where your audience comes from.

Needless to say that digitally you can reach much more people with your creative content than using physical means like a compact disc. The latter no longer works today for beginners.

The reality is that people no longer want to go to a music shop and spend $20+ for an album if they can have an instant and unlimited access to your band’s music on Spotify for half the price. Despite being criticized, Spotify is the doorway to millions of potential fans, so getting into playlists over there must be your goal.

4. Prepare a press pack (both online and offline)

Think of it as your band’s calling card. It must contain your band’s short biography, professional photos, links to your music content on YouTube or SoundCloud, media quotes, contact details and any other information that can be useful for your target audience. The press pack isn’t only for journalists; be bold and send it over to promoters and venues – small and big!

5. Go on tour, come back, and go on tour again

Touring remains the best way to find new audiences and promote music. It’s a chance to meet your listeners face-to-face as well as to make some buzz through local radio and press.

6. Interact and collaborate with fans

Use every opportunity to get in touch with your audience. Without it, you’re nobody. Interact with fans on social media, recruit them to your team, stay around after the concert, and express your appreciation.
