Woman who had reportedly gone missing was actually just at a 7 day rave!

One Dutch woman has taken “Losing yourself in the music” to a whole new level. Thalissa Van de Lagemaat had reportedly gone missing after not being in contact with her family for 7 days while on holiday but was found after a week later at a rave in Spain.

She went to Granada, Spain and said she was going to make it back to the Netherlands on October 31st. However she decided to stay more and go to the rave, which might not have caused too many issues if it weren’t for the fact her identification cards and mobile phone were stolen before going, so she had no way of contacting her parents.

After some time went by, her family became understandably worried and filed a missing persons report, but in the end it all turned out well.

After launching an appeal, which was shared throughout social networks, man named Van de Lagemaat simply posted a link to the free party festival she was at in Santa Fe, Granada, to her Facebook page to explain her whereabouts, prompting some rather angry friends and family.

Thalissa’s message to let people know where she was.

The vocalist from The Dixie Chicks accidentally got a Bassnectar tattoo

About a few weeks ago Dixie Chicks vocalist Natalie Maines posted on her Instagram that she was looking to get some new ink on her big toe, to cover the faded musical note that was now barely visible her skin.

After commissioning the talent of Portland tattoo artist Kristen Holiday, Maines decided to get a tattoo of a greek symbol for “inner strength”, and after what must have been some hefty Pinterest research, she wound up getting the famous bassdrop symbol tattooed on herself.

While the result isn’t bad, Bassnectar fans were quick to point out the symbols relation to famous producer, and even welcomed her to the fanbase in the comments following her post of the completed tattoo.

Lorin himself has offered his own explanation regarding the bass drop on his website in a old blog post, stating:

“The whole concept of the bassnectar logo/icon symbol is kind of a play on duality, in reference to the balance of positive/negative forces in the universe, and the relative aspects of these forces (meaning there is not absolute ‘right’ or ‘wrong’…only subjective perspective)

Even though there is no Absolute right & wrong, and even though even the SUBJECTIVELY wrong will never be eliminated, nor shall “goodness prevail” …at least not absolutely…. EVEN THOUGH that is true…. I still think that following your natural reflex to help is good because it SUSTAINS the balance.”

So what do you think? Does the bass drop symbol really mean inner strength as Natalie believed, or so you think it’s subjective, as Lorin said?

This Goldrush Festival Giveaway Is For A Good Cause!

goldrush festival

Goldrush is shaping up to be a huge festival this year for a few different reasons, first off this is the first time Relentless Beats has held this festival and second, it won’t just be EDM since it will include its own Rap influenced stage truly making it a music festival.

This means that different demographics that usually wouldn’t mix are in the same place at the same time.

Relentless Beats has decided to partner with a well-known charity ‘Surreal’, to create a giveaway for a good cause. For every donation you give, you get one entry into a drawing to win an experience with an artist.

The experiences they have lined up for Goldrush are, a photo shoot with Marshmello; a backstage BBQ with Claude VonStroke; skydiving with Ghastly; an on-stage soundcheck with Keys N Krates and a meet & greet with Droeloe and San Holo.

Oh and on top of that, you get 2 VIP tickets to go along with it!

If those aren’t satiating enough just remember, it’s going to ‘ChildHelp’, an organization whose goal is to provide treatment programs that help children already affected by child abuse, and prevention programs designed to educate children and aid in prevention. I personally donated $20 which gave me 6 tickets towards the chance to see the Keys N Krates sound check.

Pill testing finds para-Methoxyamphetamine aka “Dr Death” in drugs at music festival

Pill testing at a Victorian music festival has uncovered drugs laced with deadly substance linked to rave deaths and overdoses.

More than 300 festival-goers had their drugs checked out at the illegal testing station and a sample revealed that some of the pills were laced with para-Methoxyamphetamine, aka “Dr Death“. The powerful hallucinogen NBOMe was also found in later laboratory tests of the dangerous drug cocktails.

The substance has been linked to 3 deaths and 20 hospitalizations after a spate of overdoses along the party strip known as Chapel Street in Melbourne, Australia.

Edith Cowan University academic Stephen Bright who started the rogue testing tent said:

“99 per cent of people binned their drugs when told they contained unknown substances. We went to the organisers and explained what had happened. They didn’t want to see anybody die at the festival and gave us permission to set up a testing station out the back of a tent.”

Each pill was subjected to 4 different reagent tests. The results in about 30% of cases contradicted each other, indicating the drug contained an unknown substance.

Dr Bright said it highlighted the need for sophisticated testing equipment, both on-site at music festivals and also at permanent locations in Australian capital cities.

Insomniac’s Escape: Psycho Circus 2017 [Festival Recap]

Insomniac’s iconic Halloween Escape: Psycho Circus 2017 festival is officially over with the countdown to next years party already in motion.

The festival is tabbed as North America’s largest Halloween event bringing in record-breaking numbers each and every year. On October 27 & 28, Nos Events Center in San Bernardino was transformed into a sick and twisted wonderland while hosting over 125,000 fully-costumed energetic headliners.

As you made your way from stage to stage, menacing vibes from evil clowns, possessed doctor, and wicked nurses were clearly present. Insomniac again perfected the art of sticking to festival theme by creating a real life version of a Psycho Circus. The familiar red & white circus tents were placed perfectly throughout the festival map. Within the festival were haunted attractions such as revolving carousels, fortunetellers, burlesque shows, and contortionists. There was definitely a little something for everybody.

The festival had 4 massive stages to choose from with over 75 talented DJ’s performing over the weekend. With each stage having it’s own personal design, slaughterhouse definitely took home first place .

Like previous years, main stage was easily recognized by the massive smiling clown design that seemed to stare into your soul during each set. Pretty spooky. Besides the stage setup, the tent alone was absolutely massive. Numbers came out suggesting the tent was around 200 feet wide and over 450 feet long! Now that’s a party. Slaughterhouse had a killer lineup over the weekend including Marshmello, Tiesto and Dj Snake.

Next up came the Chopping Block stage. This tent was hosted by Basscon on Friday and Audiotistic on Saturday night. Friday night saw the likes of Autofreq, Angerfist and hardstlye legend Dj Isaac.

Saturday really switched things up with artists like Slushi, Baauer and most importantly Mike Will Made-It who brought out surprise guests Rae Sremmurd. They killed it. Across the lake from Chopping Block landed you in Ghouls Graveyard. Friday night was all about the bass with artists such as Flosstradamus, Nero and Datsik while being hosted by Bassrush. Saturday would switch things up with fan favorites Eric Prydz, Don Diablo and Zedd.

Last but definitely not least was the Cannibals Tea Party stage in the Damus building. The stage was hosted by factory 93 and had a nice variety of international talents on the lineup. Music by Green Velvet, Skream, Paco Osuna and Jamie Jones headlined this massive enclosed building.

Earlier this year Insomniac announced the return of the wicked ‘Asylum’. This 32,000 square-foot structure resembled a haunted prison-like psych ward. The structure was host to 120 costumed actors, a twisted maze and 30 different scenic horror rooms.

psycho circus 2017

Upon entering, your force fed your medication and wrapped up in a straight-jacket. From there your led through rooms of memories of previous escape storylines with ski mask making it almost impossible to see. The entire experience was something out of a horror film. The creativity and time that Insomniac spent putting this whole thing together is beyond belief.

After going back to the basics and downsizing Nocturnal Wonderland, Insomniac really showed they with out a doubt still have the ability to throw a massive. This year’s Escape: Psycho Circus was better than one could have ever imagined. These festivals just keep getting better and better. Next up, Dreamstate!

Live Review: Qrion, Omniboi, and Slow Magic shine at the Trocadero

When it comes to the world of Masked DJs, Slow Magic is doing it right. This indie electronica producer came to the Trocadero last week armed with his technicolor mask, drums, and some awe-inspiring tunes for his Philadelphia fans as part of his “Float” tour.

Also along for the show were friends and fellow producers, Qrion and Omniboi.

Qrion began her set shortly after doors opened, and while the crowd was small, this producer managed to kick things off with her own unique twist on the trance, chillwave, and future bass genres. She even included her own rendition of “Tokyo drift”, which was both catchy and refreshing.

Next up there was Omniboi. On first glance this artist appeared dapper as hell, sporting a bowtie and white gloves as he expertly worked his way through his toe tapping, jazz-infused electro set. Favorites included his take on classic’s such as Outkast’s “Sorry Miss Jackson” and Post Malone’s “Congratulations.”

And of course, there was Slow Magic. With his wolf mask glowing and his drumsticks held high in the air, this mystery artist floored the audience with his performance. Being a man of few words, Magic let his music speak for himself as he showcased songs such as the delightful single “Girls” and the percussion-filled intensity that was “Drums.”

That, combined with stunning, colorful visuals made for a mesmerizing and unforgettable experience for all involved.

REZZ fires back at haters after dropping Bassnectar track at her show!

rezz and griz

Believe it or not, DJ’s have (and possibly always will) play some rendition of a Bassnectar song at some point in their careers.

This is exactly what occurred at one of REZZ’s shows recently, and apparently, this didn’t fare well with some of Lorin’s fans. After receiving some harsh criticism for dropping Nectar and Gnar Gnar’s “I’m up” during one of her stops on her “Mass Manipulation” tour, REZZ had this to say via her Twitter profile:

“If any1 has a problem w/ me playing (literally) [One] Bassnectar tune in my tour set u need to drink a tea n stay calm, ok everything is fine.”

Not to mention, this isn’t even the first time REZZ has paid homage to Bassnectar at one of her shows either, having used the famous “bass head” track during her previous concerts.

Check out her full explanation below:
