Depaart are back to Sasha’s Last Night On Earth with their latest track ‘Migrate’

Depaart

Guille and Fran Zaragoza, the artistic duo better known as Depaart, are without a doubt leaving a permanent mark in the electronic music scene.

The duo from Madrid, who just keep rising, released “Do It Like You Do” with Lauer and Tuff City Kids‘ remixes on Sincopat a few months ago.

Depaart, nevertheless, instead of dancing to the sweet smell of success, locked themselves in the studio to work. The result is “Migrate“, their second EP on Last Night On Earth.

Sasha‘s label has taken the duo under its wing not just supporting them with this second release, but also including them in its parties. Depaart was part of LNOE‘s Amsterdam showcase last month.

Migrate” is formed by three original tracks and one remix. The opening is the homonymous track, a song full of personality and intensity that lays the foundations for Depaart‘s new dimension, which, at the same time, seems to not stop evolving.

Malvatis” takes over and it does it with an almost never ending succession of layers that add mystery and enigma to this underworld. The EP continues with “Sunk“, a track that with its strength secures this new path. The release ends with a “Migrate” remix by Kiwi where originality and breaks are the absolute starring figures.

And Depaart‘s activity doesn’t end here. The duo has managed to conquer Madrid’s audience with Tortilla and Fluido, their two weekly parties. Although, to be honest, the duo’s charm breaks boundaries. In fact, Depaart is ready to face some hectic weeks with performances in Dubai, Maurice Islands, Ibiza (Heart Ibiza) and Berlin (Katerblau).

Exclusive Interview with the organizers behind Mexico’s dance music jewel, Project Sound

Our team had the great pleasure to sit down with the organizers behind Mexico’s dance music jewel, Project Sound.

Project Sound have been creating special, high-quality events at the Riviera Maya for more than 12 years. They are always respectful of the magic of the Mayan land and put together tasteful line ups in unreal locations, always with a focus on world class sound and production.

We had a conversation about their incredible parties in Tulum, their team, what’s their plan for the future and many more.

Check out the interview below!

Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. We wanted to chat to you about your involvement in running parties. How did it all start?

PS: Our project started in 2007. We were a group of people that wanted to bring something new to our city that was somehow neglected and forgotten in México.

Our only goal was to provide and give our public the best experience in every night, and with every party, we have learnt more about our family and we keep improving all the time for them.

Can you tell us a bit about your team and who does what?

PS: Our project is formed by Flavio Navarro as director, Joe Guiness, Holder, Carla Constantino as coordinator for logistics and production, the production team of Loa produccions, Contraluz and Octopus.

Obviously we’re chatting to you today as you’re running parties in Tulum. Can you tell us a bit about how you settled on the sight for the parties? Have you hosted parties there before?

PS: Yes, we have been around the party in Quintana Roo for more than 10 years. We started making parties in Playa and that’s how we came up with the idea of moving forward under new places like Tulum. Because we wanted to promote new places in Mexico and maybe one of the most beautiful places in the world. .

Can you talk us through some of the complexities of running parties there? Are for example, the local authorities, supportive of what you do?

PS: Unfortunately, the mexican government is not really supportive. Not all of the people see the benefits in the creation of these experiences. Still we are not alone in feeling the necessity of doing this.

The legal process is complicated but that unifies us as the project we are.

Our team believes that living in Mexico comes with a fighting for the experience tag price and we are people that want to change this.

Looking back on your time running events, what would you say is the highlight of the past few years?

PS: This scene has been constantly changing in a good way, getting bigger and bigger. I remember like 3 years ago we were hosting a party “Dynamic in the jungle” and there was just less than 600 people, and for this year we are expecting thousands for the Solomun party.

You’re hosting parties including the likes of Solomun and Dixon over the next while. So what do you generally look for when brining artists over?

PS: Making sure everyone feels happy and comfortable with the invitation in the places we work on for, and good audio. That’s a must in our parties.

And what is it about these guys that you think works so well in a setting like Tulum?

PS: I think is the symbiosis between the vibe out there and the music guidance they bring here, it’s really a magic place.

We believe you’re also involved in running a new club in the area. Can you tell us a bit about that?

PS: Two places in fact ,called Xunanha and Radhoo. They were made with the vision for keeping a constantly community because of the recent situation in Tulum, there’s a community growing super fast.

Our purpose is to integrate the night lifestyle that we deliver every event but in a smaller place.

Do you generally get to let your hair down for a while once the party kicks off? Or is it more the case that you’re working throughout?

PS: I’m into caring my hair, jaja , always giving my best to deliver. For our team is going all or going home.

Can you also tell us a bit about what else you have coming up over the next few months?

PS: Busy and excited, always interested and available into making something.

And finally, how would you best sum up the parties that you guys run?

PS: We love bringing this home.

Many thanks!

Skrillex faces heat for standing on DJ Equipment during his performance in China

Skrillex photo by Rukes

After a recent performance in China, DJ and producer, Skrillex posted a video to his Instagram profile that has slowly gained some negative attention. The video shows Skrillex standing on top of the CDJ equipment while playing his hit, ‘Chicken Soup’.

Some people have viewed this just as a funny way to party, and others are on the completely opposite side of things.

The video has since been retweeted on Twitter and some users immediately pointed out the fact that this isn’t the first Skrillex has done this to equipment. Another point a user made was the comparison to rockstars smashing their guitars after a performance.

What’s also funny about the whole thing is that Skrillex has a video already on his Instagram of his mixer cutting out while playing chicken soup at another performance.

Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko team up for a brand new track ‘Hold On’

martin garrix girlfriend

Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko return for one more huge track in 2019 in the form of ‘Hold On’ featuring Swedish star Michel Zitron.

The most anticipated and requested ID from Garrix‘s spectacular RAI Amsterdam show during Amsterdam Dance Event, it’s a late contender for one of the tracks of year.

The track was something the friends worked on during ADE and the first version that’s heard in Martin‘s set was finished just a few hours before he premiered it. Such was his belief and confidence in this new track that he had no worries about testing it out immediately. It follows on a similar vein to previous smashes ‘Mistaken‘ and ‘High On Life’.

Here’s what they had to say about their brand new collaboraton:

Matisse & Sadko: “It’s become a tradition to collaborate with Martin in the studio just before ADE every autumn and we love this tradition. We were happy to work with such exceptionally talented writers as Michel Zitron and John Martin. A lot of versions were made and all of them were ideal. It was really hard to choose only one!”

Martin Garrix: I always love working with my good friends Matisse & Sadko and I was super excited to test the track during my show at Amsterdam Dance Event! The response of all the fans was amazing!

LA’s talented ‘AFSHEEN’ is back with gorgeous new single ‘Dancing With You’

AFSHeeN

LA’s AFSHEEN has done it again. The force behind glorious tracks like ‘Don’t Lose Love’ with Quintino & Cher Lloyd on Spinnin’ Records and ‘Creatures Of The Night’ with Rebecca Ferguson on Armada, he has a real knack of working with pop’s finest vocalists to create sweet dance-pop tracks that place melody and songwriting at the heart of their DNA.

Dancing With You‘ is another spectacular creation from this talented producer, showing off everything that makes him such a captivating artist. A cute, muted melody twinkles over hazy synth chords in the intro, setting the scene for the hushed, sensual male vocal. Finger clicks and gently pattering hi-hats give a taste of the beat as melodic harmonies bolster the vocal.

A phat house beat drops out of nowhere with a rubbery, gently distorted electro house bassline. Vocal chants and shrieks stab their way excitedly through the beat as shimmering delays of the ‘dancing with you refrain’ echo through the track. That cute melody sneaks back in while flecks of summery guitar-style string plucks waft over the stereo field.

A dulcet breakdown with piano chords and vocals lets you catch your breath before one more rousing crescendo. The final vocal layer that’s added is a heavenly cherry on the top of this gorgeous track, as are the subtle, jaunty synth chords and sweet vocoders in the final section.

Lane 8 Supported Deep & Progressive Powerhouse paraleven Delivers ‘Soloma’ EP

Lane 8

Rising deep & progressive electronic producer paraleven returns to genre figurehead Lane 8’s curated This Never Happened imprint via his 2019 tie-off ‘Soloma’ EP.

The three cut collection of top tier deep & progressive dance selections is available now wherever you stream music — and comes adjoined by confirmation of paraleven‘s accompaniment of label head Lane 8 on 12 dates of his forthcoming 2020 Brightest Lights album North American tour.

Sensorily stimulating from the start, the EP’s namesake “Soloma” strikes listeners from press play. Proceeding through the tracks progression, peppered with vibrant percussion, daring leads, ambient chants and a mammoth melodic chord progression, the initiating track sets a strong tone for the following tracks to meet.

Keep Going” sets a truly epic mood from onset, building intrinsically to a lush bouncing deep & progressive house soundscape quickly upon its start. With a strong orchestral chord progression at the heart of the second cut, the song is seasoned with a brass ensemble accentuating the composure’s measures throughout.

The EP comes to its culmination with the first vocal impression to surface from paraleven via the This Never Happened imprint. “Hide” is as voluminous as its’ title implies contrary. With the vocal prowess of Mont Blvck on feature, the track completes the EP in roaring form by way of reverberating melodic progression rhythmically sounding off between its constructive elements; fueled by attention grabbing off-beat accents with subdued vocals in tow.

paraleven‘s first appearance on genre pioneer Lane 8‘s This Never Happened imprint imparted indelible “Ripples” in the label’s soundscape, acting as a “Siphon” to fresh eardrums, funneling intrigue in the emerging acts direction. The debut ‘Ripples/Siphon‘ EP ignited listeners and set the stage, demanding due attention at his sophomore return with ‘Soloma‘.

The release comes in-tandem with confirmation of support on label head Lane 8‘s 2020 Brightest Lights album tour, marking the largest tour embarked on by the Atlanta, US raised act and a major milestone in his early career.

The just-released ‘Soloma‘ EP serves as ample insight as to what can be expected from paraleven‘s supporting sets on tour — while the budding producer boasts a diverse developmental discography, young enough to leave space for proper surprise and spontaneity.

The ‘Soloma‘ EP is out now via Lane 8‘s looked after This Never Happened imprint and available for streaming across all platforms of choice. The sophomore EP and tour announcement in-tow ties off paraleven’s 2019 discography and provides ample insight for what fans can expect in the year ahead.

Laura Brehm (Monstercat) asks fans to help plant 10,000 trees

Laura Brehm

US singer/songwriter Laura Brehm has announced an eco-initiative in collaboration with One Tree Planted, aiming to plant at least 10,000 trees across the United States.

Re-releasing her 2017 EP ‘Breathe’ on Bandcamp – including remixes of the original songs by AK, Ephixa, Elliot Berger, Rameses B, Faodail, Last Heroes & Crystal Skies and Watgood – Brehm will donate all proceeds from the collection to the eco charity.

Each track will be available to download for $1, equating to a tree planted per track. Download the entire compilation, that’s an amazing 12 trees planted.

“Trees are the lungs of our earth and a vital element in the fight against the effects of climate change,” Brehm said, talking about her decision to re-release the EP.

“ It has been estimated that nearly half of our original tree cover has been lost, but the good news is that forests have a great ability to recover. I believe that nature has the best remedies, and though it will take time, we as humans must plant the seeds of our future. More forests are key to the resilience of our planet, and of us.

“I hope fans will join me and spread the word about One Tree Planted, an organization focused on planting trees around the world. I have teamed up with them for my “Breathe” Special Edition in exchange for $12. We will use each and every dollar to plant 1 tree, with a goal to plant at least 10,000 this Christmas.”

Diana Chaplin, Canopy Director of One Tree Planted said, “It is truly incredible to have talented musicians like Laura using her voice, platform, and community to do something positive for the environment. The trees we plant today will have a lasting impact for nature!”

Working with reforestation partners in North America, South America, Asia and Africa, One Tree Planted have had huge success getting trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, creating jobs, building communities and protecting habitat for biodiversity.

KLIK & FRIK just released their brand new Refugio EP on Big In Japan Records

Klik & Frik

The new Refugio EP by Argentinian duo Klik & Frik have already garnered support by the likes of BBC Radio, Bandcamp Weekly, Primavera Sound Radio and many more!

The Argentinian duo, who have previously collaborated with friends from the scene Nicola Cruz, El Búho and Chancha Via Circuito, have produced an EP that will have you dancing and going introspective at the same time… this is music for the more discerning dancefloor.

Over the years Argentinean duo Klik & Frik have taken the bubbling Latin electronic scene to deeper levels and in the process garnered support from the likes of Vice, Billboard, Red Bull as well as sharing line ups with Squarepusher, The Orb, Nina Kraviz, Detroit Swindle and more. Their debut album was released in 2017 and featured friends Nicola Cruz, Chancha Via Circuito and Mohanad Zohair.

But it is impossible to talk about Klik & Frik without first delving into their origins as the explosive Frikstailers. The Frikstailers (pronounced freak-stylers), composed of duo Rafa Caivano and Lisandro Sona, exploded onto the scene in 2006 by turning the who electro-cumbia genre on its head.

Fusing cumbia with dancehall, hip hop and electronic beats they took tropical to extraterrestrial levels and tore up unsuspecting dancefloors across the world. Their unique style has seen them put out remixes on DFA Records, Young Turks/XL Recordings, Mad Decent and included on Modeselektor‘s ‘Modeselektion Vol 2’. They have played sessions on KEXP, Boiler Room and NPR and their debut album caught the attention of XLR8R, Resident Advisor and more.

But during their journey as Frikstailers, Rafa and Lisandro found they were maturing in their ideas, sounds and productions. They needed a musical outlet that enabled them to showcase more subtle and textured sounds for the dancefloor that weren’t just upbeat bangers. They wanted to go deeper. In 2013 they were invited to play Mutek Mexico on the Red Bull Music Academy stage and so they began making new music.

They explored indigenous sounds (which at the time had been largely ignored) and started to blend them with deeper electronic production. The resulting hypnotic, ritualistic and meditative blends were debuted at Mutek Mexico under their new moniker Klik & Frik.

Their new and unique Refugio EP proves why South American music producers are captivating our attention with their rare take on electronic music.

From the bass propelling opener Achalay (meaning How Beautiful) textured with glitches and synths, to the quenacho flute and hypnotic beat on Refugio (Refuge), to the piano on La Puna Satie inspired by French composer Erik Satie, and the euphoric Las Penas, the EP is a deep and meditative melding of influences. The traditional quenacho and pinkullo flutes feature across the tracks as a tribute to the indigenous music and mysticism of Argentina.

Refugio EP is a reflection on the need for human connection, refuge and noble reasons to keep going at a time when the world is burning both politically and literally.
