SNOWTA : The biggest New Year’s party in the Midwest

Have you and your rave squad gotten your SNOWTA tickets yet?? If you’ve been sleeping on the biggest and, sure to be, most lit NYE party-turned-festival… well, it’s time to get woke.

Minneapolis, Minne-snowta is set to host the two-day festival for its second year at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Alex Heiligman, who also produces Infrasound, and Zack Chazin ent came together last year to pull off one of the craziest parties of the year; and they contained the madness to only a single day.

It was apparent last year that the Snowta team didn’t waste any of their creative talent. Every direction you looked, there were impressive art installations and vendors throughout the facility, they even had a Ferris Wheel!

With huge headliners such as Big GiganticTipperInfected Mushroom, and Waka Flocka Flame the Snowta fam would have their work cut out for them to compile something even greater for this year. With everything they have promised for this year, its obvious they didn’t take this task lightly.

Not only is this the largest indoor music festival in the Midwest, it’s also bringing in a lineup that is second to none. Canadian Dubstep DJ and producer Excision, the OG of heavy bass, is set to bring his custom Paradox production for it’s first New Years debut. Word on the street, with Excision set to do the countdown into the new year, not only will the ball be dropped, but people’s jaws will be right along with it.

The paradox production, PK sound included, will be in action at the main stage for all of the artists for both days. Pretty Lights live will be hitting the main stage, so its sure to be a super unique PL performance you won’t see anywhere else and definitely don’t wanna miss.

The trap house king Gucci Mane and other rap talent like Post Malone and plenty of local hip hop artists will be in attendance to create the perfect hype-festival feeling.

Not contained to any genre but each known for their ever-evolving creative tones and heavy deep, low bass.. Yheti and Liquid Stranger will be there making you question reality. Other major EDM talent includes Ganja White Night and Bear Grillz. Twin city natives Jon Wayne and the Pain and jam-reggae group Wookiefoot were also added to officially create the dopest, most diverse lineup to be found.

With four different stages, there’s no way you won’t keep your dancing shoes on all night long. You can find the entire lineup below!

Though, obviously a major factor, the music isn’t the only thing to make a festival. The Snowta team easily shows their collective experience they possess. Bringing in Aaron Brooks for live painting on BOTH days.

Top 5 DJs we want to make their debut at Lost Lands 2018 festival !

lost lands 2018 lineup

Excision‘s Lost Lands festival has been dominating the spotlight for the past month or so with tickets selling out instantly, a date release, and Lost Lands mixes. Twitter has been abuzz with people nominating a variety of DJ’s for 2018’s festivity so I present you with my Top 5 contenders for Lost Lands 2018 lineup.

1. Skrillex

OWSLA record label boss, Skrillex has been around since the dawn of mainstream EDM but recently he has been out of the festival scene besides his surprise appearances at places like HARD Summer and Burning Man. He would be an amazing addition to Lost Lands festival and it would give him a chance to play some dope pre-Jack U hits.

2. Getter

Getter has been an absolute beast as of recent by announcing a tour, dropping two new singles in a matter of weeks and also growing his rap alias, Terror Reid. He is one of the dirtiest producers around always dropping heavy songs with weird and unique sounds.

3. Flux Pavilion

Flux has always been a heavy hitter worthy of any bass event, so it would only make sense that one of the Godfathers of bass music has a spot at Lost Lands 2018 festival. He even tweeted saying that he wants to go B2B with Excision in matching tuxedos.

4. Knife Party

Knife Party have always been a crowd killers and drop bangers every now and then especially their most recent song with Tom Morello titled ‘Battle Sirens‘. They just got back from Ultra Music Festival in Mexico and are making a stop at ‘Life in Color’ in March.

5. Zomboy

Zomboy is an animal behind the decks always jumping around full of energy all while feeding the wild crowd. His Rott’n Roll Tour was a huge success with attendees leaving the venue sharing Zomboy’s electric energy. I have no doubt that he could absolutely dominate a crowd at Lost Lands 2018.

Relentless Beats Strikes Gold with a Western Themed Festival [VIDEO]

relentless beats goldrush

It’s been a solid month since Goldrush took place in Arizona and I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised with how well it went. The stages were huge, the lineup was killer and the Old West theme brought it all together.

Goldrush featured names like superstar DJs Excision, Malaa, Mija, Claude VonStroke Stroke and yes Migos. ‘Relentless Beats‘ decided to up the ante and make Goldrush a full fledged music festival by blending Electronic Dance Music and Rap at a pretty equal amount of artists from each genre.

The days were super hot and the dust got to you after awhile but when the sun went down and the lights kicked on full blast, Goldrush was a sight to see. The stages’ LED boards were absolutely superb with interesting designs that blended spotlights, pyrotechnics, and lasers.

The only disappointing aspect of Goldrush was that each stage featured a blend of genres which made it slightly annoying to have to leave one stage to go to another of the same genre. Overall though, I have to say Goldrush was one of the best festivals I have experienced in Arizona so far so I’m excited to see how it goes next year.

Knoxville teenager Keaton Jones has become an internet sensation after his mother posted a video on Facebook of him speaking out against his bullies. The video immediately went viral sparking an outcry against bullying nationwide.

The topic of bullying has been a growing problem in today’s society. Numerous celebrities such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, UFC’s Dana White, Titans tight end Delanie Walker and Mark Ruffalo have all spoke out encouraging Jones and congratulating him on his bravery.

The latest celeb to reach out to Keaton is electronic dance music DJ and producer, Zedd, and he went even farther by inviting Keaton Jones to join him at any of his future shows as his own personal guest. The invite includes flight and hotel accommodations as well. Keaton, it’s time to party!

“Hey Keaton Jones, I’d like to invite you to be my guest at any show of mine of your choice. I’ll cover ur flights and accommodation. Big up for speaking up, buddy!!!” The superstar DJ wrote on his Twitter profile.

It’s really cool to see celebrities speaking out on bullying and using their platform to help put an end to this disgusting topic. Check out the video of Keaton below.

SNAILS ‘The Shell’ tour will drop down on The Fillmore this Friday!

Dj Snails

Okay folks, in case you haven’t heard already, SNAILS is on the road, and on December 15th, he will be gracing Philadelphia with his presence at The Fillmore alongside talented producers FuntCase, Yookie, and Shizz Lo.

This tour marks the celebration of Snails’ epic album, appropriately titled The Shell, and is promising to melt your faces off with over 150,000 watts of PK sound, and an all-new stage set up featuring Gary The Snail.

Snails is the bold, boundary-pushing project from Montreal based producer Frédérik Durand. His unique style of mixing, coined endearingly by his die-hard fans as “vomit step,” features some of the guttural, crushing bass drops that will have its listeners headbanging for days.

After having his first tracks featured online via Kannibalen Records, Durand has skyrocketed to play almost every festival imaginable, and The Shell tour will add yet another epic milestone to his already incredible career.

So Philly, assemble your best “vomit squad” and head to The Fillmore this Friday! Check out a preview of the set up below!

Live review: Seven Lions and friends brought The Fillmore on a mind blowing journey with The Horizon tour!

seven lions

If I’m being honest here, when it comes to electronic dance music shows, production value can get stale pretty quickly. Since having a few raves under my belt, I’ve witnessed this unfortunate “cookie-cutter syndrome” first hand, which involves otherwise talented producers falling into the trap of using similar song layouts and patterns for the sole sake of appealing to certain trends.

The Horizon tour, however, completely shattered whatever expectations I had in mind. Instead, Jeff Montalvo (Seven Lions), along with co-headliners acts Tritonal and Kill The Noise, took over my eyes and ears and brought me along for an unforgettable adventure full of genre-bending sight and sound.

Opening the night was NY based producer Kill the Noise, real name Jacob Stanzack. As my friend and I entered the venue Jacob was already on stage, working his way through tracks such as the thrilling Without a Trace from his Occult Classic LP. KTN is known for his intense, frenzied style of mixing, and this, paired with his team’s tongue in cheek, distorted music video visuals, definitely kicked off the show right.

Following KTN were electro house duo Tritonal. Now, if KTN’s vibes weren’t enough to get you going, these two definitely would have had you jumping and dancing in the audience for sure. Producers Chad Cisneros and David Reed wasted no time launching straight into their performance, which included their smash hit Untouchable feat. Cash Cash. Cisneros and Reed were full of non-stop energy their whole set, and there wasn’t a single person not clapping along to their beats. Not to mention they also paid homage to one of my favorite Coldplay songs, Something Just Like this, towards the end of their run.

Then, to close off the night, there was Seven Lions, who greeted the crowd with open arms before proceeding to blow everyone away with his incredible stage setup and downright soul touching mixes.

The setup included multiple large LED panels that took viewers to whole new fantasy based dimension, featuring mesmerizing clips of female warrior figures and intergalactic colors and shapes. Songs like Rush Over Me and his rendition of Cosmic Love added to the overwhelming sense of euphoria this production created. Jeff and his team took Philly on an adventure that night that no one will forget anytime soon.

Bonus mention: Even the folks up in VIP were jamming along to Jeff’s music the whole night, including one guy in particular in a Sloth Costume. #slothsquad?

Swallow or Stash: This drug trend is putting ravers at serious risk!

Whatever your stance is on the use of recreational drugs at music festivals, one thing is for sure: festival-goers will do anything nowadays to get it past the security at the gates.

Users are now resorting to drastic measures to conceal their illegal substances as security has become increasingly strict at dance music events across the globe. These methods have included things such as swallowing water balloons filled with ecstasy pills before entering the venue and then throwing it back up once inside, all to avoid the detection of drug dogs.

Another extreme method, according to one festival goer, is to conceal their drug of choice in, well, more delicate areas of their body: “I noticed there were heaps of dogs so I stuck them up my a …. It was the most uncomfortable thing,” the attendee commented.

Believe it or not, one festival-goer has been caught with Ecstasy pills slathered in Vegemite (a thick, black Australian food spread made from leftover brewers’ yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives), cling-wrapped to his p***s.

While these sneaky tactics may be helping people avoid the prying hands of police, it’s not doing much in the way of preventing medical issues at these popular events.

One recent gig, the Allison Wonderland Scarehouse Project, in Sydney’s west, more than 140 attendees needed medical help and one was rushed to the hospital due to drug-related complications. 31 people were charged with possession, and 45 were thrown out of the event for being too drunk as the 10-hour event raged on.

Despite all this, authorities reported that most of the other attendees were well-behaved, but are furious that so many ran the risk of concealing their illegal substances in such a risky manner.

Artist kicks photographer in the face during LA show [VIDEO]

As previously reported by Variety and Music Feeds, Shutterstock photographer Chelsea Lauren received the shock of her life at the KROQ Acoustic Christmas concert this past Saturday, all thanks to QOTSA’s lead singer Joshua Homme.

The incident, which can be seen in full in the video footage shared Youtube below, features Homme moving past Lauren on stage, only to backtrack and then in an “obviously very intentional” way, kick her camera.

“I saw him coming over and I was shooting away. The next thing I know his foot connects with my camera and my camera connects with my face, really hard. He looked straight at me, swung his leg back pretty hard and full-blown kicked me in the face.” Lauren explained in a statement made to ‘Variety’.

“He continued performing, I was startled, I kind of stopped looking at him, I just got down and was holding my face because it hurt so badly.” she added.

Lauren was then treated for injuries at Cedar-Senai hospital and stated she would be filing a police report regarding the event. Hommes has since responded to Lauren’s claim, and issued an apology letter via Queen’s of the Stone Age Twitter account:

“Last night, while in a state of being lost in performance, I kicked over various lighting and equipment on our stage. Today it was brought to my attention that this included a camera held by photographer Chelsea Lauren. I did not mean for that to happen and I am very sorry. I would never intentionally cause harm to anyone working at or attending one of our shows and I hope Chelsea will accept my sincere apology.”

While it is not clear if Lauren has accepted Homme’s apology, she had this to say in a recent post made on her instagram:

“Assault in any form is not okay, no matter what the reasoning. Alcohol and drugs are no excuse. I was where I was allowed to be, I was not breaking any rules. I was simply trying to do my job. I hold nobody accountable for this but Josh himself.”

According to the most recent reports, Lauren has yet to be contacted by Queen of the Stone Age’s management.
